Thomas Grey (1451?-1501) was the elder son of Sir John Grey and Elizabeth Woodville. After John Grey's death fighting for the Lancaster cause in the Wars of the Roses, Elizabeth managed to marry the new king, the Yorkist Edward IV. Edward IV ennobled his stepson as Marquess of Dorset and married him to wealthy heiresses. When Edward IV died and Richard III took the throne, Dorset fled the country and became a supporter of Henry Tudor, the future King Henry VII. But Henry seems never to have trusted him very much. Dorset was an ancestor of Lady Jane Grey.
