Tom Thomson,(born August 5, 1877 Claremont, Ontario -died mysteriously, July 8, 1917, Canoe Lake, Algonquin Park, Ontario) was a Canadian artist whose landscape paintings created an enduring image of Northern Ontario. Although he was associated with the Group of Seven, he was not a member. His early death helped make him an iconic figure.
