Character description

A veteran of the Revolutionary War, William Rees owned a farm in Maine, but he did not like farming.  He left his beloved wife, Dolly, and their son, David, alone for long periods of time while he worked as an intolerant weaver.   When Dolly died, he allowed his sister Caroline and her family to run the farm if they cared for David like their own.  He failed to notice that the took poor care of David, who ran away to the Zion Shaker Family when he was 13.
