Batches Media Country Offered by

The Odd Fellows Society by C. G. Barrett (Ink & Image Media II)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by cgbarrett (author): Thank you for your interest! The Odd Fellows Society has received very positive reviews thus far, among others a 5-star and Top Book Pick from Indie Reader. As its author, my two goals for this giveaway are to boost the number of honest reviews of my book on sales sites such as Amazon and to increase word-of-mouth by requesting that giveaway winners share their thoughts about the book on social media platforms like Facebook and other book sites. Thanks for your interest and kind assistance!

Description: Santiago Torres, the Jesuit headmaster of one of Washington, D.C.’s top high schools, knows two truths. First, historian Jasper Willoughs, his closest friend, didn’t toss himself off a dormitory roof. Second, a Georgetown University secret society—a running joke on campus—has blood on its hands.

Torres’s pursuit of the truth embroils him in a bizarre and deadly scavenger hunt. The clues, scratched out on parchment by the mysterious Odd Fellows Society, lead Santiago to risk everything he holds sacred: his job, his life, even the woman he secretly loves.

A hold-your-breath thriller that explores America's national preoccupation with race, The Odd Fellows Society will have you looking at the U.S. capital—and its monuments’ secrets—in a whole different shade of black and white. (Note: While this novel's protagonist is a Jesuit, this book is not a religious book.)

Description: What is the one thing people from all over the world aspire to? For some it will be a richness of happiness, good health and peace, whilst for others it could be the achievement of success and wealth. The saying ‘life is what you make it’, tells us that our lives are formed by the perspectives we choose to see and live by. If this is true, and we conclude that most people yearn for lasting happiness and financial freedom, then why does this desire elude so many of us?

Are these aspirations only possible for a selected few, or, is there a force at work, which the majority are unaware of?

In the book, The Unseen – How Positive Thoughts & Feelings define Potential and impacts your Reality, we are taken on a scientific and spiritual journey about the power of the mind and its ability to create our physical lives. With practical teachings that go further than the Law of Attraction, Moriam S. Balogun provides deep insights about the infinite potential available in The Unseen and how we are able to access it.

The 12 chapters contained within the book translate complex universal laws into clear segmented explanations that readers can relate to. Hands-on tools are provided to ensure readers not only understand the lessons, but are able to put them directly into practice. Insights, such as, how our belief system defines our ability to be successful, as well as our financial blueprint (earning power) are brought to light within this incredible book. The Unseen – How Positive Thoughts & Feelings define Potential and impacts your Reality discloses the true workings of the universe and provides the keys to the doors of all human desires.

✰✰✰✰✰ “ […] Outstanding! I am not one to shy away from saying what I mean. I am impressed. And, perhaps more importantly, I am gaining insights already”- R. Ramos, Colorado, US ✰✰✰✰✰ “This book is not what I had expected. It is rich in knowledge and unique in its approach. I will certainly be recommending it to friends” – J. Sanchez, Florida, US

✰✰✰✰ “I used the meditation that comes with the book. It worked as explained and has made a huge difference in my life” – O. Miller, Sydney, Australia

Description: Hi all. I'm giving this e-book away in exchange for an honest review on Amazon. Winners will receive the book by email in PDF, MOBI and EPUB versions. I am asking for honest reviews on Librarything and Amazon(preferred)

The Fast Diet Cookbook

Contains Over 100 Recipes for the 5:2 Fast Diet

This cookbook contains all the menus you will need to follow the 5:2 Fast Diet. This is the 'diet' developed by Dr Michael Mosley that lets you eat normally five days a week but on the other two you can only eat 500 calories if you are a woman and 600 if you are male. This is regardless of your present weight or weight loss aim.

So how do you know what to eat on a typical fasting day? It makes sense to cook something quick and easy as you don’t want to be in the kitchen too long when you are trying to eat less. The author was looking for low calorie meals but was frustrated with the expensive and fussy recipes in other 5:2 cookbooks and thought there had to be a simpler way to cook and eat delicious low calorie food.

This cookbook has over a 100 recipes that will make your fasting days something to look forward to. They include breakfasts, easy lunches and some delicious dinners. The recipes are carefully put together with a balance of protein and carbohydrates. They will satisfy even the hungriest appetites on the two fasting days and they are not just smaller portions.

Includes
• Prawn and Fennel Soup
• Hearty Potato and Leek Soup
• BLT Lunch
• Mushroom Risotto
• Chicken Lasagne
• Beef and Courgette Bake
• Pork Stroganoff with Rice

Also Includes:
•An overview of the 5:2 Fast Diet, which includes the many benefits of this diet.
•Calorie counts for all recipes with preparation and cooking times
•Recipes suitable for freezing

The recipes are calorie grouped and portioned into either 1, 2, or 4 servings and the recipe index shows the calorie count, which is very handy if you are close to your allowance after lunch and need to adjust your evening meal. Like all the cookbooks in this series—recipes are easy, low-calorie, and no nonsense. Make extra, freeze ahead, and limit your time in the kitchen.

So if you are serious about losing weight fast, then pick up this cookbook now, you will be delighted with the results.

Reviewer Remarks:
"Who knew you could eat this well on 500 calories?" "Great Little Book" "Will not go hungry" "Excellent book, well written and great recipes"

Mission Improbable by J.J. Green (InfiniteBook)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by JennyGreen (author): Mission Improbable is Book One in the light-hearted, fast-paced Carrie Hatchett Space Adventures series. It's a quick, humorous read for lovers of slightly silly British science fiction.

I would love some honest reviews posted on Amazon prior to the release of Book Two, Passage to Paradise, on March 1st.

Description: In the deepest reaches of the galaxy there are places and beings that aren’t impossible, just very, very improbable.

Carrie Hatchett is a low-achieving daydreamer, and the last person on Earth who should be resolving disputes for the Transgalactic Council. After providing a good home for her butt-ugly dog and psychotic cat, her biggest challenge in life is to avoid being fired, again.

But a strange green mist sucks her beneath her kitchen sink, and an unusual clerical error leads to an offer she foolishly doesn’t refuse.

In settling a conflict between the mechanical placktoids and the mysterious oootoon, Carrie reveals a threat to the entire galaxy.

"...like Scully and Mulder on acid."

They're embroiled in a war and Minnie is too valuable a pawn to leave in play. But Minnie refuses to give up her new life. She’s about to star in the biggest fashion show of her career. Her brother asks an old army friend, Big Mike, to guard her until they can fetch her home. Minnie thinks Big Mike is too big, too muscled, too tattooed, too tough… too everything. He’s exactly the kind of man she moved across country to escape; the kind who thinks he knows what’s best for her; the kind who doesn’t belong in her glossy, perfect, new life; the kind she shouldn’t want…
Big Mike thinks keeping a nitwit fashion model safe long enough to hand her over to her family should be easy for an ex-biker, ex-Special Forces commander who outweighs his charge by at least one-hundred-and-fifty pounds. Except the pretty nitwit isn’t a nitwit. Each time he takes his eyes off her, she escapes, plunging headlong into trouble. Big Mike quickly realizes he doesn’t want to take his eyes - or his hands - off Minnie Coolidge…

Cold City Streets is somewhat darker than my Liam Quinn novels but has lighter elements as well. It's quite different, and I'm quite proud of it. I hope you enjoy!

Description: Brian Featherstone's money and power couldn't protect him. In the depths of Edmonton's winter, a killer leaves the oilman dead in a residential neighborhood. Legal aid lawyer Jessica Harper's client is found with the murder weapon, cash, and a drug-house full of reasons to be guilty. But Paul Sidney swears that somewhere in the shadows of an urban jungle, the real killer lurks. An ex-athlete wants a better life for his kid than he had in Detroit; Harper is exorcising demons; the victim's enemies want their pound of flesh. Did police jump the gun? Could a stock-market swindle play a part? Or is the accused playing Jessie for a fool?

    Description: Michael

The last thing on my mind tonight as I ran into this diner to escape the rain was to run into her…Cara. My high school sweetheart, and the one that got away. But there she is, more beautiful than I remember her. It may seem crazy but in an instant I knew that I was being given a second chance at love and I was not going to let her get away this time.

    Cara

With only fifteen minutes left to closing, when I heard the bells on the door chime I couldn’t help the annoyed huff I let out. When I looked up and same him, Michael Morris, standing there, I felt like maybe someone was playing a cruel joke on me. But it was no joke, because not too long after he entered the diner, he had me in his arms and my body responded like no time had passed at all.

Offered by ClaraTobin (author): Winners will receive Mobi (for Kindle) and PDF via email. Honest reviews posted to Amazon would be greatly appreciated. WARNING: 18+ audience only.

Description: Book 1: Claimed by the Barbarian Warrior

3040. Earth is at war with the two newcomer alien races.

My name is Colette Wilson, and Tyen Onaselesia, an Ilzani warlord, is holding me captive. Instead of having coal-black skin like his relatives, Tyen is purely white. He has a serene face and muscular build that makes him look different from the others.

But I never asked for this. All the aliens around me look at me like they’re hungry, and I can tell that Tyen feels the same way. His ethics and cultural differences in courtship are surprisingly different from what I’m used to. I don’t know what to think. I feel like I am caught in a battle amongst a bunch of lust-driven aliens who wish to claim me as their own brides.

With the war going on around me I am caught in a small-scale war of my own. Is Tyen just another one of those snarling, vicious, dominant creatures that want to chase me down and take me as their own?

Author Clara A. Tobin’s latest three-part series, “Alien-Human Bride” is a great story that everyone will enjoy, even non-Sci-Fi fans. This is Book 1.

Going Out In Style by Daniel Kelley

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by LeaDeLinkley (author): Why not? It's a short month, and reading is good for you!

Description: The phrase ‘Going Out’ can be defined in so many ways: an exit, an ending, a single date, or a description of an entire relationship! Add ‘In Style’ to this, and the possibilities within the world of fiction become extraordinary.

“Going Out in Style” is a 28,000-word collection of six stories from the master of the short story, Daniel Kelley.

In “Performer,” it’s Thomas L. Blatten’s final day at work. After 42 years of playing the same chair in a symphony orchestra, he has concocted his own special way to say goodbye and thank you. During a concert! And he isn’t entirely sure what to expect from the audience or his fellow musicians as the performance unfolds…

“Bathtub Ripples” is Andie’s tale. Abused years before by an uncle, she’s found that everything in her life has a bit of a sour taste, and nothing ever quite jells with the opposite sex. Exploring her past with both solemnity and humor, Andie reflects on how she ended up where she is, and why she’s been unable to change.

Have you ever known someone who TESTS you? Who annoyingly sets a bar that has to be met? That would be the narrator of “Getting to Know You.” A famous writer, he meets avid fan Cecily after a publicity appearance, and asks her to tell him five things about herself; if she passes muster, he’ll continue to converse with her. The answers aren’t exactly what he expects, though! Feel free to savor his comeuppance.

In “Thinking Back,” a neighbor of Maddie’s family is murdered, and only gradually is the sequence of events that led to the murder revealed. Secrets, revelations and recriminations abound.

And then there’s Simon Oddgrove. In the hilarious narrative “Doing It All”, Simon’s dating history is recounted, along with the fascination he has for his aunt’s breasts and his penchant for doing, well, nothing. While at first glance an odd addition to this set, Simon’s lack of style is so pronounced that it is, in fact, its OWN style.

Rounding out the collection is “A Child’s Game,” in which Janice revisits the scene of her encounter with a beau whose sincerity ended up being somewhat less than trustworthy. Janice has her own ideas of how to finish off at least HER end of the relationship.

This is a remarkable, riveting set of tales. Enjoy!

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Please bear in mind this book is for adults only.

Description: The greatest threat to humanity are the divisions within.

In forty-nine years, the planet that we all call home will die. Maybe if our ancestors had made different choices, more of us would have survived. Inequality is no longer a social status, it is physical. Humanity as a singular entity no longer exists, we have evolved into different species.

Faced with extinction, scientists pushed the boundaries of genetic engineering to develop the purest of humans. Unfortunately, they succeeded. The privileged minority have bought the right to be selected for Provenance and passage to the new world. The descendants of those unable to afford genetic purification look to the heavens, their mortality guaranteed by the approaching comet. They are the Drones, the neglected majority and the founding members of the Resistance.

It is 2119, eugenics has reached its zenith and decades of war has created a society devoid of compassion. Continuity's one million elite await their selection to Provenance, the Drones await the signal to attack. Both have been deceived. Masked by the shadow of fear a new species of human plots to take control of Provenance, and enslave those deemed inferior. Their plans for the billions remaining on Earth are less benign.

Steve is aware his illicit love for a Drone conflicts with his duty to protect Continuity. What he doesn't know is that he is the key to humanity's salvation. Those aware of his latent abilities will stop at nothing to protect him, for now. The Resistance will stop at nothing to kill him. Entangled in a web of deceit and burdened with the death of his younger brother, the only constant in Steve's life has been the camaraderie of his close-knit unit, where friendships are forged in the deadly world of counter-terrorism. A world where those closest to you are your enemy's most potent weapon.

The first book in the PROVENANCE series, 'Flee the bonds' is an action-driven sci-fi thriller set in a near-future dystopia and raises questions of how humanity would evolve when faced with an existential event.

We're a small and very new publishing house based in Kansas City frustrated with tired, lazy and cliché speculative fiction and horror. Please join the movement and help us break through with something new and something we can call our own!

Give this book a shot - let us know what you think at www.grailrunner.com or on Twitter (@grailrunner). Leave your glowing review on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. And keep watching for the next salvo we're firing late summer 2016 - we're rattling the cage of modern horror. If you're wondering why all the old school sci fi and horror publishers are nervous, it's us!

Description: "She left tripwires in the stories we tell, to save us from ourselves. This is what happens when one gets triggered!"

Misling is a Recorder, having perfect memory and expected to help build a seamless record of history. That’s what the Salt Mystic taught us two thousand years ago when she came stumbling from the flats with her visions. Unfortunately he’s probably the worst Recorder ever. So when he meets a joker with an incredible secret, the two of them are soon on the run from swarming lunatics and towering assault troops in the heart of a city under siege.

As it has for three generations, the horrible Talgo family is the spark of this swelling world war; and their wily generals and scheming counselors clash their fleets in battles of shrieking steel-entrained tornados, cannonballs of lightning, and tanks the size of cities. But it’s the joker’s secret that is the most powerful weapon of all…a trigger set by the Salt Mystic herself in myth, to save the world from itself.

Abandoned Dreams by Rod Raglin (Rod Raglin)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by RodRaglin (author): Win an Advance ebook copy of Abandoned Dreams before it's published.
Ever wonder what dreams you might have fulfilled if life hadn't got in the way? What if you had an opportunity to try again?
Abandoned Dreams explores this theme as well as those of family, friendship and aging. It also asks questions about the concepts of artistic merit, success and enabling.
These issues are examined not from the point of view of the protagonist, but rather from those he's closest too.
Abandoned Dreams is literary fiction similar the work of Anna Quindlen and Jean Thompson.
It's my sixth novel and available as a pre-order until March 6, 2016.
    Thanks for your interest.

Description: At twenty-seven years-old, George Fairweather is “the voice of his generation”, a poet whose talent has garnered him accolades from the literary establishment and homage from the disenfranchised “hippie” youth of the late 1960’s.

George is the embodiment of the times with his long hair, rebellious attitude and regular use of mind-expanding psychedelic drugs.

Then the sudden and tragic death of Fallon, his friend, his muse and his lover shatters his world, his sanity and nearly ends his life.

Katherine is the one person who stands between George and destruction. A hanger-on, a groupie, a go-for, she’s a woman George never considered – for anything. Katherine idolizes George and makes it her personal mission to keep him alive, doing whatever it takes, twenty-four seven.

Because of Katherine’s sacrifice and devotion George slowly begins to mend his soul and rebuild a life. But guilt and gratitude make it a much different life then he’d previously led.

Thirty-seven years later, George Fairweather is a husband, father and grandfather and a successful copywriter at an advertising agency. Another death, his wife Katherine’s, is about to change his life again.

Can dreams be resurrected? Can a live abandoned be taken up again?

Will they let him? Is it worth it?

Description: Hold on tight for a New-Adult Sci-Fi Adventure that's a cross between 'Firefly' and Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road!'

Idyll is a rugged planet—a new, simpler start for some 10,000 settlers who have fled Mother Earth. But a strange 'plague' of contagious sleep has devastated their Settlement, sparked by a mysterious mantra called the Lullaby.

After a three-year quarantine, Walt and Samuel Starboard set out from their ranch on a mission to cure their comatose mother and find their missing father. For days they ride through a blighted landscape: deserted cabins and gravestones and the ruins of towns destroyed by fire. Just when the brothers are about to give up, they stumble upon a second pair of survivors, two beautiful and determined sisters.

Miriam and Virginia Bridge offer new hope, but they also present new problems. Stirrings of emotion and shifting priorities threaten to set the brothers against each other. Can Walt and Samuel overcome years of festering resentment, or will their rivalry tear them apart before they can reunite their broken family? And will any of them survive the revelation of who—or what—unleashed the Lullaby on their home world?

Description: Book 3: The Warrior’s Destiny

The world ship was in what seems like utter chaos, and I was at the front of all of it: Colette Wilson.

From the moment that my future husband Tyen had arrived back from the war on Earth, we’ve been moving at high speed to try and get the ship out of Earth’s orbit. According to Lord Marso, Tyen’s Ilzani brother, Earth has the means to destroy the ship at any given time.

He has given us the plans to travel underground and away from the chaos while we do our best to escape the fight. With twenty or so servants with us, it is our goal to get to the city of Anamyua and find safety. There is a rising fear in all of us, though. Something lurks down there in the underground that Tyen and Marso refuse to talk about.

When we are out of this mess, we will be married. I only hope that I can keep my emotions about Marso in check. I have felt a growing love for him that rivals my feelings for Tyen. When we get to our destination will I be able to stand before him and declare my love? Or will I need to choose Marso instead?

    Carnifex by D.P. Prior (Homunculus)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by derekprior (author): Carnifex is the latest release form fantasy author D.P. Prior. This is the long-awaited origins story of the Nameless Dwarf, and the first in a four-book series.

I'm specifically looking for reviews from fantasy lovers.

Description: "Gritty, tense, and brutally tragic. High quality storytelling with great characters and a relentless plot." — Mitchell Hogan, author of A Crucible of Souls and Aurealis Award winner."

For more than a thousand years, the dwarves have hidden away from the world in their ravine city of Arx Gravis.

Governed by an inflexible council whose sole aim is to avoid the errors of the past, the defining virtue of their society is that nothing should ever change.

But when the Scriptorium is broken into, and Ravine Guard Carnifex Thane sees a homunculus fleeing the scene of the crime, events are set in motion that will ensure nothing will ever be the same again.

Deception and death are coming to Arx Gravis.

The riddles that preceded Carnifex’s birth crystalize into a horrifying fate that inexorably closes in.

But it is in blood that legends are born, and redemption is seeded in the gravest of sins.

For Carnifex is destined to become the Ravine Butcher, before even that grim appellation is forever lost, along with everything that once defined him.

The long-awaited Nameless Dwarf origins novel, and the start of a brand new series, Legends of the Nameless Dwarf, Carnifex by D.P. Prior is a welcome addition to the sword and sorcery tradition that spawned R.E. Howard, Michael Moorcock, Fritz Lieber, and Lin Carter, and it picks up right where the heroic fantasy of David Gemmell left off. With tight point of view, complex characterization, and an abundance of horror, bloodshed, and the relentless march of an uncaring fate, it also carries the hallmarks of modern day grimdark that readers of Joe Abercrombie and George R.R. Martin are familiar with.

    Husk by D.P. Prior (Homunculus)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by derekprior (author): I'm the author of Husk, D.P. Prior.

I'm looking for reviews from readers with an interest in sword and sorcery/dark fantasy.

Description: They call them ‘husks’, the demons that cross the Farfall Mountains, leaving a trail of blood in their wake.
No incursion goes unmet; otherwise the cancer would spread until the whole of Aethir was consumed by nightmares.

That’s why the Maresmen were formed—trackers and warriors charged with holding back the tide. Each of them is different, uniquely suited to the task in hand, but one thing they hold in common: they are half-breeds, part human, part husk; and they are bound by an inviolable rule:

Hunt the husks, or be hunted themselves.

Jebediah Skayne has been hunting husks his entire adult life, but there’s something different about the trail leading to the fishing town of Portis on the shores of the Chalice Sea: no spoor, no footprints; nothing save the unmistakable feeling of wrongness.

Finding a husk in Portis would be near impossible for someone who didn’t have the sixth sense, but the instant Jeb arrives, all trace of the creature vanishes, save for the victims it leaves behind: men mostly, half-dressed, killed in the throes of passion.

Forced to rely on more mundane methods of investigation, he starts to uncover a town rife with corruption, where a man will kill you for looking at a woman the wrong way; a town that’s seen its share of incursions from the land of nightmares before.

When he claps eyes on a local beauty, Maisie, he can think of nothing else, least of all the mission that brought him to town. Not everyone is happy about that, and soon Jeb finds himself embroiled in a cycle of jealousy-driven violence, gambling, and compulsive sex.

As events start to slip from his control, he realizes the husk he's come to kill is one step ahead of the game, and it holds a secret that will shake his world to the core.

    "The world-building is impressive." - S.R. Manev

"D.P. Prior consistently writes high quality, layered, adult fantasy based in the world of Aethir. Husk is a welcome addition to his already detailed and dextrous catalog that includes richly imagined and byzantine world that is often battling between what is thought to be good versus evil, and yet the author finds the humorous side of things in the wildest places." - Melinda LeBaron

Husk is a dark fantasy mashup with overtones of the macabre and the supernatural. Prior writes with nods to Lovecraft, David Gemmell, Michael Moorcock, and Joe Abercrombie. This gritty tale of grimdark proportions cannot help but appeal to readers of Stephen King's The Dark Tower.

    Description: Trailer: http://youtu.be/2VfYxsHNlhc

This is the story of a lonely kid who develops a computer game, using what little of quantum physics that he has read, that renders game levels from maps of any format; the result is just a little too realistic. When he tries to combine this "World of Shawn" with a favorite game of his childhood, "World of One," he soon finds Worlds colliding, to the detriment of his friends. Shawn must step up and rectify things, rescue the princess and save the World.

The interaction and constant dialogue between the characters in this story, as well as the humor and action intertwined, have drawn comparison to that in such works as "The Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter," and "Narnia," so if a reader has an interest in any of those, as well as an interest in computer programming or video games, either in the past or the present, it would be a safe bet that they would enjoy getting to know Shawn and his World!

My Psychic War with Uncle Sam by E. Alexander Scianna (Harmonious Circle Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by alecazandre (publisher): E-book edition (.epub or .mobi) of our timely underground literary fiction novel My Psychic War with Uncle Sam.

We’d appreciate your sincere LT book-review, and if possible on Barnes & Noble (http://goo.gl/x1CnT) or Amazon (http://goo.gl/Z2rKw).

    Regards,
    Harmonious Circle Press
    http://theharmoniouscirclepress.net

Description: An intellectual coming of age, My Psychic War with Uncle Sam swings from life on the military base with G.I. Joes in starched fatigues to the streets of Seattle where Dennis and Marcel encounter the hippie culture seeking nirvana on hallucinogenic drugs. The reader is taken on an exhilarating romp through western thought and history as the ideological struggles that permeated the 60’s generation are juxtaposed with the uncertainties of modern day life. With heavy doses of mysticism, drama, and humor—just to keep things interesting—the authors ask, “Who is Uncle Sam?”

Dennis DeLuccio invites the reader into his underground garden to rethink politics, war, sex, drugs, philosophy, religion, the occult, the origin of the hippie movement, and the meaning of a psychic war. Dennis drifts back to 1968 and his first assignment at Fort Lewis, Washington. He remembers Marcel Dreyfus, a young soldier who has just returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam. The many GI’s who say they don’t believe in the war, yet stand at attention, fall silent and follow orders even as they are shipped out to Nam, mystified Dennis. Marcel however cuts through the illusions of the so-called patriots with wit and rhetoric.

Packed with documented facts of U.S. foreign policy, paraphrased from the works of Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Bertrand Russell and others, as well as broadcast news reports of the period, My Psychic War with Uncle Sam infuses social comment with lived experience. Like Joseph Heller’s Catch-22, it fashions the account of a young army recruit living stateside through the Vietnam era into an eloquent and deeply funny plea against butchery in the service of authority. My Psychic War with Uncle Sam weaves historical fact and dramatic fiction into an essential storybook of our times that is both entertaining and enlightening.

“What a surprise! This is an exuberant romp through history, politics, and philosophy, through the eyes of a modern Alice in Wonderland. Escaping down a hole in his living room floor, Dennis seeks refuge from the horrors of 9-11 in his secret garden only to confront madness and paranoia, as he tends his garden and searches for an understanding of his experiences in the army during the Viet Nam era. The novel will keep you wondering what supposed masters of truth can be trusted to guide Dennis home in his psychic war with Uncle Sam?”
—Cynthia McKinney, U.S. Congresswoman and 2008 Green Party U.S. Presidential Nominee

“A dramatic account of one man’s psychic and political struggle against the cant and crimes of establishment institutions. Written with engaging candor and much human spirit.”
—Michael Parenti, author of Contrary Notions and God and His Demons

So far My Psychic War with Uncle Sam is earning mostly 5-star reviews on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, LibraryThing, and Goodreads. Here are some links relevant to the novel and its authors:

    Morocco, Maybe by Alex Wu

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by alexpwu (author): An atmospheric travel/love story ...

If this piques your interest, I'll be happy to provide the book in MOBI, EPUB, or PDF format. No obligation, but I hope you will consider doing a candid review on Amazon, Goodreads, or LibraryThing. Thanks!

Description: Sara Meadows is an ambitious attorney who helps her mining-company client make billions, even if she has to bulldoze an ancient monastery and blackmail the opposition. Unsavory, true, especially since she once dreamed of a PhD in art history, but soon she’ll make partner at an elite firm. Not bad for someone raised on food stamps. A vacation to Morocco shouldn’t screw up anything.

    It screws up everything.

Backpacking through Morocco, Sara meets an archaeologist who seems everything she is not: idealistic, spontaneous, and as down-to-earth as his digs. They explore fabled kasbahs and medieval medinas, sharing tales under Saharan skies. Over sips of mint tea, the two discover a mutual passion for history. And fall in love.

Sara’s newfound happiness would be perfect but for one tiny detail: the priceless monastery she’s demolishing is the same one the archaeologist is desperate to save. Navigating unexpected detours is hard enough. Betraying someone she loves is harder. The hardest part? Mustering the courage to defy her head and follow her heart.

William Heirens: The True Story of The Lipstick Killer by Jack Rosewood

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by kekmaw (publisher): This is a true crime story of about 20000 words. Please only request a review copy if you are able to leave a review on Amazon for the book within 10 days.

Description: In the early 1940s, the city of Chicago was in the midst of a one man crime wave. But this crime wave was unlike any other in Chicago history. It was not perpetrated by a seasoned gangster like Al Capone or sophisticated serial killer like John Wayne Gacy: the offender in question was an unassuming teenager named William George Heirens. Before Heirens’ crime spree was over, he burglarized over 300 hundred homes and murdered three innocent people. In this true crime murder book you will learn the details of Heirens’ rampage through the city of Chicago and what drove him to become one of the most disturbed psychopaths and sociopaths in the annals of all true crime stories.

At first glance, as an American serial killer, Heirens may not appear as formidable as others since he only claimed three victims. He was also much younger the average serial killer and was a nice looking young man when he was arrested. But the truly frightening aspect of Heirens’ story is how a seemingly normal child, with a stable home, can evolve into a petty criminal and eventually to the status of serial killer. A close examination of Heirens’ life will reveal that beneath the façade of normalcy lurked a vicious killer waiting to be unleashed on the hapless citizens of Chicago.

This book will at times shock and disturb you, but you will not be able to put it down once you read the first page! Truly, you will see a youth who was well on his way to becoming a killer at an early age. So sit back and prepare to enter the mind of a truly disturbed youth as you read this unique Chicago serial killer’s biography.

Description: Hide your children, lock your doors, and load your guns because zombies are real and they are coming. Danny Terrence knows this better than anyone. He spent months preparing for the inevitable moment the disease would reach his small town. What he didn’t prepare for is the fact that nobody really believes him.

Luckily for him, an old classmate and bully just happens to be the first one bitten. The bad news is that the family with the biggest arsenal of guns just packed up and left town, leaving them defenseless from an oncoming zombie horde. Being a leader isn’t turning out the way Danny imagined.

Yet four other survivors easily have it worse than him. Between a thirteen-year-old girl on a road trip from hell, a family of paranoid hunters having to deal with their feelings for the first time ever, a stubborn doctor butting heads with a cold-hearted sergeant and an amoral British professor carrying the fate of humanity in his hands, Danny has it easy. Unless, of course, they all end up in his town, messing with his already messed up life.

Olivia might look human, but she’s grown up with a heavy secret: her mother is a potion-maker who fled her home in a parallel world, the Hidden Lands. When her mother is captured by the potions merchants she once made a bad deal with, Olivia is left alone.

Alfred is the blind young heir to the illegal potions trade. When he offers to help, Olivia isn’t sure if she can trust him, but she has no choice. She goes with him to the Hidden Lands, a new world given a familiar veneer by bootlegged American pop culture, but strange at every turn. Lifelike doll people are created for menial labor, illegal magic dealers pay off the police, and reincarnation is accepted as fact. Alfred soon finds himself putting his position on the line to defend Olivia’s mother against his family’s conniving plans. Maybe he has morals…or maybe he’s just falling in love.

But rescuing Mom proves the least of Olivia's worries. When she escapes from an attack by a curiously familiar sorceress, she learns that Alfred's family wasn’t the only thing Mom was hiding from. Olivia was born with only half of a soul, and she can only become whole by finding her other half—and killing her.

Unfortunately for Olivia, her other half can kill her too. And she's not holding back.

Description: In golf made easy, readers are given tips, tricks and techniques guaranteed to lower their golf score. Some of these are common sense, but many of them involve the mental aspect of the game and will require some discipline.

For example, do you know the easiest way to lower your score? What is the one big mistake that most players make on the practice green? How about the range? These are just a few of the questions that are answered in this golf book.

By following the advice contained therein, players are virtually guaranteed to shave strokes off their game and break 100 or 90 or even 80 if you are that good.

Loads of insider information gleaned from more than 35 years working in and around golf courses and consulting with golf pros, superintendents, pro shop managers and the general public.

Personal Wisdom: Making Sense of You, Others and the Meaning of Life by Robert Brown (Denro Classics)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by bobdeena (publisher): Available in multiple eBook formats. Seeking reviews for LT and Amazon. Book is aimed at adults who value their lives and wish to live as well and meaningfully as possible.

Description: PERSONAL WISDOM (Robert Brown, Ph.D.) is a comprehensive look at the value of a single life, yours. No one, not God or anyone wants you to simply rehash what has gone on before. Your existence is unique and your life should be the same.

This is not easy to do, your cultural roots keep you in one place, the winds of fads and fashion push you this way and that. Solving problems, resolving conflicts, knowing how to tell a difficult truth are some of the important demands you must meet. You must become independent of your roots and the blowing wind, develop clear perspective and the skills necessary to acquire true knowledge about life, others, and yourself.

Brown provides a way to understand and trim your roots and soar with the wind. Along with other skills, he teaches ten things to do every day, the six steps to solve any problem and even lists the three criteria for living a perfect life.

Description: Two Virginia brothers, Townsend and John Tyler Philips, are separated by the great war that breaks the Union apart. While Towns serves as a musician in the 51st Virginia Infantry, John Tyler attends Virginia Military Institute, hoping one day to fight for his country and be reunited with his brave younger brother. Neither could guess they would meet again on a bloody battlefield of that war, or that John Tyler would be injured and again separated from his brother Towns.

Now, recovered from his wounds, John Tyler joins General Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia, defending Petersburg against overwhelming Union forces, while Towns marches with Confederate General Jubal Early to the gates of Washington, then, hounded by the Union Army, back to Virginia, where the Rebels meet a tough new adversary, Union General Philip Sheridan. Confederate victories are soon followed by defeat after defeat, and for young Townsend Philips, a deepening crisis of conscience and will.

Who We Are: The Code of Creation: The link between Science Healing and Spirituality by Susana Cor de Rosa

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by susanacor (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

I hope you enjoy this book and post a review on Amazon.

Description: This work offers you an opportunity to revolutionize your life from inside out, affecting every area of your life. With it you will go deeper in your understanding of who you are, the power you have to create and choose realities–even the outrageous ones–how to heal yourself, reorganize your brain, achieve your goals, stay tuned with your soul, and much more. The book links science, spirituality, healing and self-improvement, in a very engaging manner. Examples of scientific experiments and real life stories lead us to rethink and abandon obsolete beliefs, limitations, negative emotions and unconscious habits, and to use our full potential to realize ourselves and have a positive impact in the world. In this work you will recognize your true nature – a creating consciousness. You will understand how your consciousness affects matter, space and time, and how it performs big and small miracles in our day-to-day lives and alters the energy of the planet. You are going to rediscover a profound connection with the universe and all of life, enabling you to move with ease and achieve. Truly understand yourself as a multidimensional and multisensory being, and go beyond your normal capacities, using your sixteen senses. They are our “Quantum GPS,” always enabling us to sense and communicate with others and with everything. Moreover, the knowledge and practice of the Code of Creation, the language of creation, opens up new doors of awareness, freedom, self confidence, healing and power, empowering us all to build up a new way of being as unlimited beings and fulfilling our true place in our lives, the planet and the universe. The audience for this book is people who want to revolutionize their lives. It could be someone with specific issues (mental, emotional or physical) that they want to overcome, or it could be others who are searching for a more meaningful life and an alternative worldview that is supported by modern, science-based ideas, and spiritual knowledge. Inside you will find several exercises, questions, healing energy, and moments to stop, breathe and love. These profoundly change every person that reads the book and practices what is in it. This book would also be for those with an interest in popular science, since it explores how far scientific ideas can be taken into our daily lives. Because the ideas in this book are profound, it is directed at mature readers, roughly between the ages of 21 and 150.

Keep Listening: A Patient Perspective On Modern Medicine by L V Hannah

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by lvhannah (author): The author lives in the North West of England with her husband and two daughters, which is where she also grew up as part of a "medical" household.

She held early career aspirations of following her father into surgery but was persuaded against this by her parents who held the now outdated view that surgery was no job for a woman "who wanted to get married and have a family".

Description: Keep Listening is a compelling patient memoir, charting the writer's journey to "hell and back" following the birth of her second child.

It describes in candid detail the negligent care afforded to her by the medics involved in that birth, her subsequent ill health and near death and the impact of that on the writer, her family, her career and her finances.

It also deals with the writer's unsuccessful attempt to sue her healthcare providers and includes a strong overriding message: quite simply, if all medics listened to their patients more, then both the healthcare system and patient outcomes would be immeasurably improved.

The writer dedicates the book to her late father, an eminent surgeon, whose mantra was to tell his medical students to "always listen to the patient".

The book reads more like a suspense ridden, page turning novel than a memoir and is a frank and emotionally charged account of her journey which exposes the failings of both the public and private health care systems in the UK.

Description: The world turns cold as steel when it begins to die, and the divine will answer for the plight of man...

Life, as the inhabitants of Zepzier know it, ends as things of myth become a harsh and terrifying reality. Everything that Phalax, a battle-hardened defender of the kingdom of Cavia, has cared for begins to slip through his grasp as nightmares begin to plague his world. When he loses everything, he is left with nothing but a need for revenge, and the road to vengeance will be paved by the blood of both friend and foe.

Phalax once upheld justice. Now, right and wrong have no meaning to him, and morality has no bearing on his actions. He worships no gods, not even those who imbue him with incredible power. He will murder the enemy of his homeland and leave no threat standing. Nothing will stop him—no mortal, no demon, no god.

Description: Metamorphia is essentially a tale of fulfilment. It is set in an uncertain place, in an uncertain time, but has features that everyone can identify with. The main characters comprise a witch, a dragon, a duke and a small boy, all of whom share a commonality - they are seeking for something that they lack in their life. The witch hopes for love, the dragon contentment, the duke recognition and the small boy friendship. They do find that for which they are searching, but not from the source they had expected. For some of them, and other characters, they do not even know what it is they are searching for until they are finally presented with it. Add the ambiguities and indecision of officialdom to passion and everlasting hope and you have a complete story which tugs at the heart.

The three friends did the same as always – they went to a bar. Only this time they decided to try someplace new: The Torchlight Inn. They are eager to make it a night to remember.

During their time at the shabby bar they come face to face with seedy bar patrons, a biker gang and one strange-acting bartender named T-Bone. But all is well until Alan and Erin mysteriously disappear and Gabe has to try and find his friends before being forced to pay their bar tab.

Little do any of them know the secret the place holds beneath its cracked floorboards…

Where a whole new kind of terror is waiting for them.

Description: I don't believe in free will. Don't be scared, everything will be okay. Our lives are determined by choices we already know the answers to. It was at the point of the big bang that our lives began. Each and every one of us began our journey that day, and the paths we now walk on, and the footsteps we leave behind, will continue for all eternity. Each person we meet and interact with along the way tread their own road and the sparks we create with them at those intersections we call relationships begin new moments that we'll never even see. This book that you hold in your hands was being written long before I was created. If you manage to make it through to the end or whether you merely read the first few pages, I want you to know that these words come from something more than me, an essence I myself have not quite come to understand. This book that you hold in your hands was being written long before I was created, and the words that I speak will last forever.

Description: The Girl at the Window is the coming of age story of a young girl and her quest to find out who she really is. Leah Manoug lives with her mother in a flat in the suburbs of Paris; the whereabouts of her father are shrouded in mystery. Growing up in France in the nineteen eighties, Leah soon learns to fend for herself from an early age. She tries to come to grips with her ethnicity, nationality, parentage and racism. When she accidentally finds out the identity of her estranged father, she is shaken to the core and questions her own identity. She falls into a selfloathing spiral, which will only be broken when she moves to England. The Girl at the Window raises contemporary issues such as the breakdown of the family unit, the stigma of interracial parenting, and some of the issues faced by second generation immigrants in terms of belonging. All these issues relate to the broader themes of identity and the acceptance of oneself.

Description: From his miserable childhood to his mediocre career as a college professor, fate had not been kind, or even terribly fair, to “Kip” Kippur. But Kipʼs luck changes when he inherits a house in a small coastal village in Massachusetts. He chucks his previous life and moves there to write the Great American Novel—a thinly disguised autobiography.

As Kip struggles to transmute a leaden life into golden fiction, he finds himself alone and rudderless in a strange community. He stumbles into a mysterious murder, an awkward romance, a married lady's hot-tub, an unusual proposal of marriage—and an invitation to sail to Florida, during storm season, in a sailboat of questionable seaworthiness, with an autocratic captain and a homicidal crew mate.

But Writerʼs Block is more than just the tale of a late-life crisis gone terribly awry. Itʼs also an intriguing portrait of a small town and the complex people who inhabit it. It will keep you riveted all the way to its crashing conclusion.

Description: Sharon Masters is a young college lecturer newly arrived in Scotland to teach at the University of Edinburgh in the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures. On her first day on campus, she meets Vince Robertson, a senior lecturer who she soon learns has a wicked reputation. She also meets another new lecturer, Kathryn Abrams, who shares with her the rumors of Vince’s playboy ways. Intrigued, Sharon studies him during her first staff meeting, hopelessly drawn to his impressive physique, green eyes and intense presence. When he notices her watching him, his gaze penetrates her immediately, making her oddly overheated and surprisingly aroused just from a mere glance.

Their first conversation is a heated one, leaving Sharon’s legs shaking, her throat dry and her core dripping with arousal. The pair begins seeing each other, casually at first, and their relationship turns physical quickly, leading to a night of impossibly mind-altering sex. Sharon is swept away, despite his not-so-stellar reputation and in spite of herself.

As emotions grow for each of them, Vince’s playboy reputation soon encroaches on their happiness and the two of them must decide what they are to each other, aside from fantastically compatible sexual partners.

Dream Stalker by Amy Hopkins (Amy Hopkins)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by thespellscribe (author): Hi, guys! I'm offering a pre-release giveaway of my debut book, Dream Stalker, in the hope of securing a few reviews and some fans before my big release. If you love urban fantasy, open world magic in a modern setting and strong female protagonists, you'll probably like this book. It's a little softer around the edges than, say, The Dresden Files, but there's not really a romantic element (there will be in later books, but only as a minor side plot- these aren't romances!)

Description: People are dying. Why doesn't anyone care?

All Emma wanted was to sell her enchanted teas in peace. Instead, she's caught up in the chase for a killer who's stalking the streets of London. He's targeting half-bloods, people with limited magical ability. People just like Emma.

The police are baffled by the long string of deaths, but they're not willing to put in the legwork to make an arrest. After all, magic users can take care of themselves, right? Except, those with real power don't give a damn about half-bloods. So, when Emma wakes from a strange dream that nearly gets her killed in the waking world, she knows she has to deal with it herself.

With only her boggart shop-assistant and the two strange men who have offered to help, can she thwart the killer and make the city safe again?

The Squad Room by John and Nivakoff, Robert Cutter (Beaufort Books)

Offered by Beaufort (publisher): Hello! We are offering 20 ARCs in exchange for honest reviews on as many sites as possible!

Description: There have been countless crime dramas written about murder mysteries, but none that delve into the life behind the shield of New York’s finest.

It’s New York City, modern day, and things aren’t quite the way they used to be. The Squad Room follows Captain William “Bill” Morrison, a man haunted by his own demons. His son is dead, gunned down in the line of duty, leaving Bill a haunted shell. Morose, a borderline alcoholic, he finds a second family among the members of his task force, the only men and women as committed to the brotherhood as he is. And with his marriage in shambles, solace comes in the arms of a dream girl, the tortured, but empathetic and caring Claudia.

You may believe you know what evil looks like, but The Squad Room shows you that the face of unspeakable horror can come in many forms. A serial killer is terrorizing New York City, targeting young, helpless women. Morrison and his team are racing against time to identify and bring justice to the murderer. Meanwhile, the task force runs up against villains inside the system: a Chief and a Detective who got where they are by political maneuvering, rather than skill and merit.

Here, the men and women of the badge form tight bonds that can never be understood by outsiders. Every day, the police sacrifice so much of themselves to protect an unknowing public. This is their story, born from the true life experience of the authors. Written by two actual police chiefs, The Squad Room gives you a genuine insider’s view of a detective squad room in the NYPD and shows you what it is like to handle real life and death situations every day. It brings a human face to the multitude of public servants, the nameless legion we only read about in the tabloids when something horrific happens. You will never look at the police the same way again.

    Description:
    DANGEROUS DREAMS

" . . . if I'd known what lay ahead, I would never have slept again."

Four hundred twenty-five years ago, the "Lost Colony of Roanoke" became the most vexing and enduring mystery in American history-a mystery that lives on today. Dangerous Dreams is the story of what might have happened to the Colony; told in the personal, exciting, terrifying manner in which it surely occurred.

On July 23, 1587, England established its first permanent North American settlement on Roanoke Island in present day North Carolina. Barely a month later, the colony's deteriorating circumstances forced Governor John White to return to England for additional supplies and colonists. However, war with Spain preempted his return until 1590, when upon his arrival, he discovered the colony had vanished.

The Lost Colony's saga mysteriously unfolds through the lifelike dreams of a young twenty-first century woman, Allie O'Shay, who after her dreams continue like a TV mini-series, night after night, deduces she's dreaming the gripping drama of the Lost Colony. But Allie's dreams do far more than witness history—-they entwine her with a young colonist named Emily Colman with whom she develops a strange, compelling emotional intimacy.

Emily and the colonists begin their struggle for survival against mounting adversity—-internal dissent erupts; multiple suitors seek Emily's favor, the powerful Powhatan chiefdom plans the colony's demise, and four warriors from a tribe to the distant north arrive to trade with tribes near the colony. The subplots converge amidst the excruciating drama of the colony's waning fortunes, and Emily faces terrifying perils that ultimately force her to make an agonizing, fateful decision.

Increasingly distraught, Allie follows the Lost Colony and Emily as they march inexorably toward their destinies. Desperate to understand the genesis and verity of her dreams, she probes the depths of modern dream science to fashion a theoretical explanation. But as the colony's prospects dim, she discovers there may be far more to her bond with the Lost Colony and Emily Colman than she could ever have imagined; and as her emotional fusion with Emily surges, she faces a dire challenge that threatens her own survival.

Dangerous Dreams is for readers who savor gut-wrenching suspense; intense, fast paced action; layered mystery; compelling love and hate; a deep plot; and emotional immersion in their characters. Mike Rhynard inexorably draws readers into a tempest of gripping suspense, underpinned by a masterful blend of historical accounts, old and new theories, and creative story telling about the Lost Colony-all through the lens of mind-bending dream science hypotheses that, at once, entice and dare readers to venture into Allie O'Shay's Dangerous Dreams. A must read for historical fiction, Romance, and sci-fi-fantasy readers.

Getting to Know Jesus by Eric Kampmann (Beaufort Books)

Offered by Beaufort (publisher): Hello, we are giving away 15 ARCs of this wonderful book in exchange for honest reviews on all sites you are a member of!

Description: Getting to Know Jesus is a perfect book for someone who knows something but wants to know a lot more about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Eric Kampmann has designed the book to provide the chronological account of the life of Christ based on the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

The origins of this book were a series of podcasts that Kampmann and Dr. Chuck Davis, Senior Pastor at Stanwich church, recorded over the course of one year. For this book, Kampmann used the content of the podcasts to build a commentary on the passage that provides a deeper look into the accounts of Jesus’ life, ministry, crucifixion, and resurrection.

In addition to the book, Kampmann has provided an index that lists 31 bible or individual studies. The studies include an in depth look at the Sermon on the Mount, the Parable of the Prodigal Son, Raising Lazarus, the Seven Words of the Cross, the High Priestly Prayer, and much more.

    Description: A page-turner fairytale retelling.

Lady Kathryn’s father sends her to court to find a husband, but being penniless and disinterested doesn't bode well for her success. Bored by the petty intrigues of court, her frustration and loneliness are eased when the king charges her with the care of his newest acquisition: a wolf he and his hunters have recently captured. What the king doesn't realize is his remarkable pet was once Gabriel, his favorite knight, cursed into wolf form by an unfaithful wife.

The beast’s uncanny intelligence and human-like behavior convince Kathryn that he is more than what he seems. Resolving to help him, she doesn't count on the greatest obstacle being Gabriel himself. The longer he stays in wolf form as a captive of the court, the harder it becomes for him to remember his humanity and to fight his wolfish urges to maim and kill.

Only Kathryn’s affection and determination stand between Gabriel the wolf and Gabriel the man. But when the one who betrayed him returns to court, will Kathryn’s love be enough to keep Gabriel from exacting a brutish revenge that will condemn the wolf to death?

Beyond the Good-Girl Jail by Sandra Felt (HCI Books)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by HCIBooks (publisher): Truth or Dare? We dare you to break out of jail (the good-girl jail that is) and tell us how this book has inspired you to develop a loving, spiritual self. Here is your Get Out of Jail card!!

Description: Beyond the Good-Girl Jail is unique in that it is written from a neutral, encouraging, developmental point of view, rather than a mental health point of view, which is sometimes interpreted as judgmental and shaming. It is theoretical in the basics, yet practical. It is psychological, yet not steeped in pathological jargon. Part of the appeal of Felt's approach is her use of case examples and illustrations of the "Self Principles" in various common situations. When you listen from a deeper place, you hear a deeper truth. This stick-to-the-ribs book will have readers thinking long after reading it. They will not only remember the words and stories, but they will experience a shift in their language and a surprising growth in their choices.

Are you convinced that some people are born leaders? Or that the way things are is the way things are meant to be? And that it’s probably for the best that you just do what you’ve been told, no matter how stupidly your boss may be laying waste to the company.

Boss Lessons will help you understand that leaders are made, not born. You can develop the skills of great leaders just like you can develop skills to play a sport, a musical instrument, or to use a computer.

Midnight Watch by David Dyer (St. Martin's Press)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by stmartins (publisher): Enter to win a copy of MIDNIGHT WATCH by David Dyer!

Description: As the Titanic and her passengers sank slowly into the Atlantic Ocean after striking an iceberg late in the evening of April 14, 1912, a nearby ship looked on. Second Officer Herbert Stone, in charge of the midnight watch on the SS Californian sitting idly a few miles north, saw the distress rockets that the Titanic fired. He alerted the captain, Stanley Lord, who was sleeping in the chartroom below, but Lord did not come to the bridge. Eight rockets were fired during the dark hours of the midnight watch, and eight rockets were ignored. The next morning, the Titanic was at the bottom of the sea and more than 1,500 people were dead. When they learned of the extent of the tragedy, Lord and Stone did everything they could to hide their role in the disaster, but pursued by newspapermen, lawyers, and political leaders in America and England, their terrible secret was eventually revealed. The Midnight Watch is a fictional telling of what may have occurred that night on the SS Californian, and the resulting desperation of Officer Stone and Captain Lord in the aftermath of their inaction.
Told not only from the perspective of the SS Californian crew, but also through the eyes of a family of third-class passengers who perished in the disaster, the narrative is drawn together by Steadman, a tenacious Boston journalist who does not rest until the truth is found. David Dyer's The Midnight Watch is a powerful and dramatic debut novel—the result of many years of research in Liverpool, London, New York, and Boston, and informed by the author's own experiences as a ship's officer and a lawyer.

Moonstone Beach by Linda Seed (Self-published)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by LindaSeed (author): I'm giving away five signed copies of my first novel, Moonstone Beach. The book is the first in a series of four contemporary romances set in Cambria, California. I would very much appreciate honest Amazon reviews from the winners, though a review is not required.

Description: Kate Bennet owns a small bookstore in Cambria, California—the kind of shop that smells like mildew, furniture wax, and old pages, the kind where you’ll find a cat napping atop the used biographies. Two years out from a divorce that left her emotionally fragile, Kate is starting to think that maybe she’s ready for love again—or at least for a fling with a hot man. Jackson Graham is a local chef who’s controlling when it comes to food, careless when it comes to women, and temperamental when it comes to just about everything. When Kate’s friends mobilize to set things up between Kate and Jackson, she expects some casual pleasure followed by a hasty goodbye, but Jackson’s long-term crush on Kate means that he’s in this one to win. The problem is, neither he nor Kate knows whether he can change the self-defeating habits that usually send women scurrying for the door as soon as the afterglow fades. Throw in a beautiful backdrop of rocky beaches and rugged coastline, a manipulative father, a Mary Kay–pushing stepmother, a yapping Pomeranian, and a nervous ring-tailed lemur, and you’ve got Moonstone Beach, the first contemporary romance in a series of four about Kate and her friends, Gen, Lacy, and Rose.

Description: BALLOON ANIMALS is a pilgrimage and road-trip of unusual dimensions. Follow me, Jonny Rowe, on a wild goose-chase from Ireland to the USA with my American grandfather's remains in my red birthday balloon. I use 'remains' in the loosest sense of the word: my grandfather, 45, puffed his last breaths of air into my birthday balloon before suffering a massive heart attack right there at my birthday party which becomes his deathday party. Feeling responsible for 45's death, and as a thank-you for filling Clinical Dad's void after leaving that questionable suicide note, I make it my quest to return 45 to his birthplace amongst the corn of Iowa, USA, suspended inside his soul-bubble. This journey might also help me with my identity-crisis ... I'm a genealogy student, by the way. And who knows, maybe I'll find love - I tend to find things when I'm not looking for them. Join me on a desperate race against time to unveil the truth as my birthday balloon begins to deflate and loose 45 forever to the wind.

A twisted love-affair never meant to be. Necrophilia: that’s what the sceptical call it. Romantics call it the yin-yang love between being and human being, light and, oh, so very dark. Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Hostie13 (author): I am one of the authors of for the Love of a Dingo and would like to give three copies away to fellow Australians

Description: Berenice became fascinated by Dingoes at a very young age. Her fascination became almost an obsession and as a young woman she spent many hours researching and studying the Dingo and she devoted over 40 years of her life as the Dingo’s advocate. Committed to observing, studying, breeding and being at one with the Dingo’s spirit she became a recognised authority on Australia’s Native Dog and rewrote what people believed about the Dingo.

She became known worldwide simply as the “Dingo Lady” and founded the Australian Native Dog Training Society (ANDTS), later known as the Australian Native Dog Conservation Society (ANDCS).

As the Dingo’s champion she took every opportunity to promote understanding of the Dingo, fight for its recognition and acceptance as the native dog of Australia and to educate the public on the truth about its characteristics and behaviour.

The stories in this books about three of her Dingoes, Dora, Napoleon and Snowgoose, demonstrate the love she had and dedication to a falsely maligned Australian native animal.

Description: Bibliography. American History. Published by Chester River Press, Kindred Spirits is a bibliocentric memoir chronicling the acquisition and restoration of seven rare books from Jefferson’s Retirement Library at Monticello. This is the remarkable story of the serendipitous discovery of a seven-volume set of Aeschylus’s Tragedies owned by Thomas Jefferson, and the many bibliophiles, Jeffersonians, historians, scholars, and yes, Ancient Greeks, who helped complete a journey of personal fulfillment and historical significance, all the while honoring one of our most accomplished Founding Fathers. Share Barry Buckley’s thoughts and emotions as he gazes for the first time on Jefferson’s personal book markings, oversees the book restoration process, and with renowned author Maureen Stack Sappéy, traces the connections from Ancient Greece up through the centuries to the fledgling United States.

The Perihelix by Jemima Pett (Princelings Publications)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Jemima_Pett (author): This is the first book in the Viridian System Series, a jaunt which grew out of my Friday Flash Fiction feature on my blog. Some characters get inside your head and demand to be written about... and now I hope you'll want to read about them.

I'm now writing the sequel, in case you wondered (no cliffhangers).

Description: Two asteroid miners, three women, one spacecraft, and five pieces of a legendary weapon hidden around the galaxy.

All Big Pete and the Swede want is a nice relaxing vacation with the girls. Strange messages appear, which sets them off in search of answers, only to be kidnapped by the two opposing forces in the sector. Which is a problem for the girls, since none of them know how to fly a spacecraft.

Red Meat Cures Cancer by Starbuck O'Dwyer (Random House/Vintage Books)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by StarbuckODwyer (author): Winner will receive a signed copy promptly. NEWS: Starbuck's new collection of stories, the sequel to How to Raise a Good Kid, will be available for pre-order soon. For notification of the release, please follow Starbuck on Goodreads, Facebook or Twitter.

Description: *AUTOGRAPHED COPY* Rare opportunity to win a signed copy of an award-winning CULT CLASSIC of political incorrectness. Not for the easily offended, Red Meat was a silver-medalist in the Independent Publisher Book Awards (humor) and a bronze-medalist in the ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Awards (humor) before being acquired at auction and published by Marty Asher, legendary editor-in-chief of Knopf's Vintage and Anchor Books imprints. Quoted in Publisher's Weekly Daily, Asher said, "What appealed to me most about Starbuck's novel was how it managed to be universally offensive. Neither right-wingers, nor lefties, meat-eaters or vegetarians, CEOs or clerks could take any solace from this hilarious, outrageous satire. At such a politically correct moment in time as this, who could possibly resist publishing a book that pisses everybody off, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, eating habits or whatever?"
