From the richness of a story overflowing with tales of tragedies, courage and triumphs, Jusef’s journey reveals the complexities of Moroccan culture and the overwhelming restraints facing those on the fringes.
As the country questions its identity in the fading period of colonial rule, one Berber boy must also challenge who he is and who he is meant to be – as he discovers in the fight against adversity, dreams might not be enough …
‘A Riffian’s Tune’ is an autobiographical novel about forging your own path, the power of hope, and daring to step into the labyrinth of life – no matter what.

Infinite Exposure by Roland Hughes (Logikal Solutions)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by seasoned_geek (author): These copies are being handed out by the offer for honest reviews to be posted here and any other place the reader normally posts reviews.

Unlike most reviews on here you can visit free-ebooks.net, scribd.com, Kobo or Barnes & Noble and find a free preview containing the first 18 chapters. In other words, there is ample opportunity for you to know if you _want_ to read the rest of the book before signing up to do a review. Remember: A review which starts out "I usually like warm fuzzy love stories set in New York so..." doesn't actually help anyone.

Description: In a world where identity theft is rampant and financial system attacks are like morning newspapers it is kind of scary to read a novel which predicted much of it and the reason behind it.

This work of fiction uses historical information and relevant news stories to draw a line from post 9/11 through the off-shoring of IT jobs and the largest terrorist strike the free world has ever known to the resulting nuclear war. By the year 2012 the U.S. will no longer be a world power. The world will have seen many countries deploy nuclear weapons. Anarchy will reign in many parts of the world and electricity will be considered a luxury nearly everywhere. That, however, is not the interesting part of the story. How we got there is a far more interesting tale indeed. Follow the story from post 9/11 to where it all went bad and see if you can find a way out, not just for yourself, but for everyone.

Trouble is, April has never knitted a day in her life. And she's got less than 24 hours to learn. If she doesn't master the basics soon, she risks losing Owen to the girl he's sponsoring, Dana Van Stanten—and she already knows how to knit.

Description: Economic theorists since their inception over 200 years ago, have struggled with the question of how to distribute wealth and continue to come up short. The author is not only criticizing capitalism, but finally has brought to the table, a new thought provoking alternative to the economic cannibalistic system.
Capitalism is a tragic love story. What can you say about the boring cock-fights between Capitalism deities of our time? You should be as disgusted as I am of these clown shows that chip away the substance of economic disparity dialogues. Socialism and Communism have failed, but now Capitalism is failing us. I have left to the class of economist sloppy cerebral sloths, to tiptoeing around of serious issues. Instead, you, the reader, and I will be swimming against the torrent current. Chapter one through six are exhibits of the case against the current status quo, Capitalism. And if I see you on the other side of chapter seven, please hold my hand tightly from chapter eight through ten. Take your time to digest chapter eleven and get yourself prepared for a big slap to your face. On the closing argument, chapter twelve follows through James Tobin's recommendation: "Good papers in economics contain surprises and stimulate further work."

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by adaliwat (author): Winners will receive iTunes redemption code. Apple iBooks required: Winners will need an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or Mac with OS X Mavericks or Yosemite to download and read the book.

Description: ***Please note this title contains strong language and offensive material***

"A.D. Aliwat's book can sometimes make you uncomfortable (but that's okay, that means it's working) and is an interesting perspective on modern manhood in America. A must read." 5-Star Amazon Review

"Unlike anything I've read before..." 4-Star Goodreads Review

A rising star at one of the world's preeminent investment banks explicitly recounts his power hungry and sex crazed youth in this satirical "Portrait of the Asshole as a Young Man." Frank Parker's quest for success begins with childhood dreams of playing in the NFL, takes him through the Seattle music scene during college years otherwise spent in an elite fraternity, and ends where the novel begins, on Wall Street, with episodes relating back to banking principles throughout. In ALPHA, A.D. Aliwat offers a mesmerizing look inside the mind of a predator as pitiable as he is terrifying and a critical examination of what it takes to really make it in America.

Set in China during the tumultuous Tiananmen Square protest in 1989, Bellwether Prize finalist Living Treasures portrays the crusade of Gu Bao, a girl who grows up under the Chinese government's one-child policy. Bao searches for her inner strength while exploring the Sichuan mountain landscape. She befriends a panda mother caught in a poacher's snare, and an expectant young mother hiding from villainous one-child policy enforcers bent on giving compulsory abortions. This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by LeaDeLinkley (author): Enjoy! And we hope it's an amazing December for you.
Linie and Daniel

Description: Imagine… a friend and neighbor, affable but mysterious, easygoing yet also strangely intense when it comes to a personal life kept as close to the vest as possible. Who doesn’t know someone like this? Mike and Janie Howell, residents of the bucolic town of Fielding, certainly do. Ned is their friend, dropped into their lives with a bit of lucky timing, swiftly becoming a fixture at their house, along with his excitable Daschund, Rocky.

But who is Ned? And why are so many of his characteristics eerily familiar to the Howells?

These are the questions posed and answered – to the extent that questions like these CAN be satisfactorily answered – in “Ned”, a 7,700-word short story that explores the impossible. From the creative minds of both Linie Sherrod and Daniel Kelley, “Ned” takes a brief stroll into a magical world where things are most definitely not as simple as they appear. Enter this world, and savor a tale of what could happen to anyone. Anyone, that is, who chooses to believe in beauty, in fate, in the delicious illogicality that defies the rational mind, but enchants those willing to open their eyes to the alluring power of possibility.

The Demon Cat of Calle del Rio by Art Lester (PublishNation)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by ArtLester (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

I hope you enjoy this book and post a review on Amazon.

Description: "There are no more undiscovered paradises," old hands at world travel said. "All the charming, untouched villages now have McDonald's and strip malls." Art Lester wasn't convinced. So when he and his wife stumbled into Cantilla, a white village perched high in the Sierra Nevada of southern Spain, he knew at once that he was going to ignore their advice. There were problems. Speaking the language for one thing, as he learned when he told a roomful of peasant farmers that he was pregnant. It didn't help, either, when exhausted by difficult travelling, the newly-arrived pilgrim accidentally peed on a neighbour's sheep. The house they bought on the first day nearly revealed itself as a ruin too far. But these obstacles could be overcome by patience, hard work and a stubborn refusal to face the hardest questions of all. Such as, "Now that you've found paradise, what do you do?"

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Offered by MartaTandori (author): eBook available in mobi, epub and PDF.

This book is currently ranked #27 on Amazon's Best Seller List for Children's Historical Fiction/Holocaust and #62 for Teen's Historical Fiction/Holocaust.

Description: Combining the survival instincts made famous in THE HUNGER GAMES with the intensity of THE BOOK THIEF, LAST STOP KLINDENSPIEL is a tightrope of horrors that will make readers think twice about running away to join the circus…
It’s been eight years since the Second World War has ended – long enough for people to forgive and forget – but feelings of hate run deep in Norway against people like fifteen-year-old Katya Holberg and her family. Separated from her father when the Allies liberated Poland, Katya and the rest of her family are sent to an internment camp in Oslo where they’re eventually rescued by a Norwegian war hero. After four tumultuous years together, he brutally murders her sister, forcing Katya and her mother to seek refuge with her grandmother in faraway Droeback where Katya’s mother is murdered by villagers soon after their arrival. Fearing for her safety, Katya’s grandmother sends her to Klindenspiel, the only circus of its kind in Europe, where all of the performers are children. Once there, Katya quickly learns that all of the young performers share her terrible secret, making them more like her than she could ever have imagined. Things become complicated when Klindenspiel’s artistic director pairs Katya with Aleks, a good-looking but secretive seventeen-year-old, who’s skilled in acrobatics and dance. Curious about, and attracted to her new partner, Katya secretly follows him one night and learns the horrible truth behind Klindenspiel’s magic. With the curtains about to rise on Klindenspiel’s newest show, Katya and Aleks must give the performance of a lifetime – both on and off the stage – because their lives, and those of their fellow performers, are depending on it.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Roger_Pepper (author): *Signed Copies*

Description: "THE BROTHERS CRO-MAGNON is a thrilling ride. You can almost feel the arctic chill sinking into your bones."-Tess Gerritsen, NYT bestselling author of Die Again.

Action/Adventure, Thriller. The book is imaginative and ambitious, fusing the prehistoric to contemporary biology and futuristic science. It is a thrilling Arctic adventure with a strong female lead, a heroine's quest.

Man, the most dangerous animal ever to roam the earth, destroys Siberia’s Pleistocene Park. Soviet scientists found human sperm on the skirt of a Neanderthal woman recovered from the permafrost. Sperm rapidly cooled to subzero temperatures in the sterile environment of pure ice, as well preserved as it would be in a modern sperm bank. When New York reporter Corky Mason returns to her Siberian homeland to visit a Russian paleontologist, she plans to cover a story about mammoths but unearths the frightening account of a prehistoric rape that casts a shadow over her. She learns that she might be the sister of four Cro-Magnon brothers born from the prehistoric sperm, brothers who murder people that threaten their freedom. They unleash the mammoths from the park and start a war with Russia’s secret police. On the run from the FSB, fighting Siberia’s turbulent elements at a time of global warming, starving polar bears and a ‘brother’ who thinks he’s a caveman, Corky fights for her life.

Description: There’s gonna be hell to pay sooner rather than later in these action-packed, sexy adventures, blending real life stories and places with a smidgen (Wink!) of fiction. Like my momma always said, “When you play with fire, you’re gonna get burned!”

Ride to Redemption: Righting another’s wrong landed D in the witness protection program and cost him family, friends, and everything of substance in his life. Loneliness is his constant companion until he meets Candi, the girl of his dreams. He and Candi embark on a three-week ride to redemption where they deal with mind-numbing deceit, perilous treachery, their overpowering lust for each other and their personal demons.

Nevertheless, new opportunities bring a chance to begin again. And, it doesn’t hurt that he’s got 200 pounds of illicit diamonds to use to ease the pain of those wronged. He will continue the redemption process by way of a well thought out plan involving a 5,000-mile adventure through the Western United States and Canada.

When D meets Candice, aka Candi, she captures his heart, mind and soul the instant she ‘inadvertently’ almost runs him down in the Starbucks drive-thru. Candi joins him on his three-week, two-wheeled ride to redemption, where they’re forced to face their personal demons, while dealing with wanton lust, mind-numbing deceit and perilous treachery.

Spectacular scenery and a cast of unforgettable characters they meet along the way makes the journey memorable, but nothing prepares them for the sacrifices they must eventually make midway in the ride.

“The more things change, the more they stay the same,” sadly, does not ring true for Candice and D throughout this first of a three part series. Lust and greed are forever game-changers, even for those who desperately seek redemption.

Ride to Restoration: In this second book, D learns that paying it forward is not without costs, toss in Candi Parker, the girl of D’s dreams gone rogue, along with vivacious Victoria Lawson, attorney at law, who willingly steps in to fill Candi’s thong, and D’s hilarious misadventures continue across Canada. Reality sets in and the bullets begin to fly just two days after he returns to the states.

D sends Victoria away to keep her out of harm’s way, before tackling his real life demons, aka A.J. Standford, the Ponzi scheming banker who has a bounty on D’s head, and Candi’s extended family, the Gambinos, who will profit from his demise.

The romantic side of the story poses multiple questions: Will D settle for Victoria after being royally screwed by Candi or will his feelings for Candi propel him back into her life and the crime family’s ongoing chaos? Will Candi take back her sleazy ex-husband Joseph or will she somehow manage to break with her powerful family and come crawling back to D’s loving arms?

With all of this going on, there’s bound to be hell to pay sooner rather than later. Like momma always said, “When you play with fire, you’re gonna get burned.”

There Comes a Prophet by David Litwack (Double Dragon Publishing)

Offered by dlitwack (author): There Comes a Prophet is about a dystopia devoid of technology, the result of an overreaction to a distant past where progress had overtaken humanity and led to social collapse. The solution--an enforced return to a simpler time. But Prophet is also a coming of age story, a tale of three friends and their loyalty to each other as they struggle to confront a world gone awry. Each searches for the courage to fight the limits imposed by their leaders, along the way discovering their unique talents and purpose in life.

This book is being offered by the author.

Description: But what are we without dreams?
A world kept peaceful for a thousand years by the magic of the ruling vicars. But a threat lurks from a violent past. Wizards from the darkness have hidden their sorcery in a place called the keep, and left a trail of clues that have never been solved.

Nathaniel has grown up longing for more, but unwilling to challenge the vicars. Until his friend Thomas is taken for a teaching, the mysterious coming-of-age ritual. Thomas returns but with his dreams ripped away. When Orah is taken next, Nathaniel tries to rescue her and ends up in the prisons of Temple City. There he meets the first keeper of the ancient clues. But when he seeks the keep, what he finds is not magic at all.

John Smith - Last Known Survivor of the Microsoft Wars by Roland Hughes (Logikal Solutions)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by seasoned_geek (author): Please take the time to visit one of the retail sites or free-ebooks.net or scribd.com and read the free preview before signing up to receive this book to review. This book is not for people who like warm fuzzy love stories set in New York. It is for people who read "Megatrends" or DVR the show "Ancient Aliens". People who enjoy the story line behind the artifacts in "Warehouse 13" should also enjoy it.

A great many nods, both blatant and subtle, to legendary science fiction exist in this work which spans the entire breadth of human history.

Description: This work of dystopian fiction is based on the entire history of the human race. Set in 2081 the novel takes the format of an interview over one week with one of only a few survivors (John Smith) of a destructive event and a journalist (Susan Krowley) reporting for The Times newspaper. The Times has a readership of 5,500, is printed weekly, and is the largest newspaper in existence. In the world of 2081 people have gone forward in time but back in knowledge reverting to traveling by horse and they know nothing about computers, nuclear power, weapons of mass destruction, NASA, transistor radios, microwave ovens or many of the other things modern life takes for granted. Susan really has only one question, but she has no frame of reference for the answer. John Smith has all of the information she needs in obsolete forms such as DVDs, computer hard drives and books.

Many of you have rebooted a computer, but just how do you reboot the human race? What kind of disaster recovery plan is in place to handle a disaster where no single country survives?

This book mentions many other works of science fiction, both subtly and directly. Some reviewers are declaring this work as important as George Orwell’s ‘1984’ and Aldous Huxley’s ‘Brave New World’.

Essaim: Expedition & Witness by Ethan E. Harris (Kindle Digital Publishing)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by eeharris (author): The short stories (about 40 novel-sized pages) are actual dreams I've had while under induced sleep. I'm an Army veteran, recently disabled, and am attempting to find my voice in the fiction world.

Description: The two titles, Essaim: Expidition and Essaim: Witness, are the first in a series of fictional short stories based on the highly vivid dreams of the author.

The Essaim short stories occur simultaneously. The stories focus on two different groups as each encounters alien life on a mining expedition. Expedition, the first book, follows a group of scientists as one of their group makes a life-changing error which then leads to the group's destruction. Witness, the second title, follows a group of Han Solo-ish rogues who arrive on the planet just in time to see the catastrophic results of the first book.

I plan to add additional sections as time allows and as interest demands. The endings are not typical, but hopefully the story telling is decent enough to please an audience.

Paleo Diet For Beginners : Top 30 Paleo Pasta Recipes Revealed ! by Scott Green

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by jodiesloane (author): Please provide reviews for the book

Description: Creamy Chicken Zucchini Fettuccine
Ingredients
• 1 small onion, chopped
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• ½ tsp Himalayan or fine sea salt
• ½ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
• 1 large head (600g) cauliflower, roughly chopped
• 2 cups chicken stock
• 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
• 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
•2 tbsp white balsamic vinegar
• the juice of 1/2 lime
• 1 tsp capers
• 225g mushrooms, sliced
• 450g leftover cooked chicken, chopped (I used grilled chicken)
• ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped (to garnish)
• 2-3 large zucchinis, peeled and julienned
Instructions
1. Peel the zucchini (or not, I peeled mine just for the look and munched on the peels while I was cooking) and cut them into wide julienne strips with a mandolin. Set aside. (I used the wider setting of my mandolin to create Fettuccine-like “noodles”, but you could also do finer noodles with the thinner setting or you could also use a vegetable spiralizer.)
2. Add onion, garlic, salt and pepper to a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat for one or two minutes, until fragrant and slightly softened.
3. Throw the cauliflower in and continue cooking for a minute or two.
4. Add chicken stock, cover and bring to the boil; lower heat and continue cooking until the cauliflower is tender, about 5-7 minutes.
5. Meanwhile, cook the mushrooms in a large skillet until nice and golden. Add chicken and continue cooking until heated through; Reserve.
6. Ladle the cauliflower mixture into your blender; add Dijon mustard, nutritional yeast, balsamic vinegar and lime juice and process on high speed until super smooth and silky in consistency. Throw in capers and pulse 2-3 times just to mix them in and break them down a little. Pour that cauliflower mixture over the reserved chicken and mushrooms and bring to a simmer over low-medium heat.
7. Divide the julienned zucchini between serving plates and ladle the chicken sauce on top.
8. The heat from the sauce alone will soften the zucchini some, but it you want your "pasta" to be even softer still, you can also add the zucchini to the pan, stir until well coated and cook over low heat for a minute or two.
9. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.

The Betrayal Bond by Patrick Carnes (HCI Books )

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by HCIBooks (publisher): This giveaway is being offered by the publisher in order to solicit reviews of this book (preferably before publication).

Description: Exploitive relationships can create trauma bonds—chains that link a victim to someone who is dangerous to them. Divorce, employee relations, litigation of any type, incest and child abuse, family and marital systems, domestic violence, hostage negotiations, kidnapping, professional exploitation and religious abuse are all areas of trauma bonding. All these relationships share one thing: they are situations of incredible intensity or importance where there is an exploitation of trust or power.

In The Betrayal Bond Patrick Carnes presents an in-depth study of these relationships, why they form, who is most susceptible, and how they become so powerful. He shows how to recognize when traumatic bonding has occurred and gives a checklist for examining relationships. He then provides steps to safely extricate from these relationships.

This is a book you will turn to again and again for inspiration and insight, while professionals will find it an invaluable reference work.

Francis believes that, through education, we can put an end to the epidemic of chronic disease while providing a solution to the biggest social and economic problem of this century—the costs of global aging.

In The Health Hoax, Francis exposes the truth about how to stay healthy and introduces us to a way of life that can become a "highway to health", while he quite effectively demonstrates that we really don't have to be sick. Then, he reminds us that not only is there absolutely no fun in being sick, but we are going broke trying to pay the cost. Francis realizes that the only solution for individuals and society as a whole is to maintain health. But health is a solution that we must choose, and once we make that choice, we must learn how to achieve it.

Fortunately, learning how to be healthy has never been easier—The Health Hoax makes it simple. Because the human organism is a magnificent self-regulating, self-repairing system, it is capable of being completely functional and in excellent health for well over 100 years of vital, productive life. We are the sum of everything that goes into our system – it is our job to support it. When we make the choice to properly care for ourselves, our bodies will reward us with the gift of good health and long life. All we need is a tool to help us master the elements of health that are the most important. This book is that tool. It will empower you to choose health and never be sick again!

Blood Oath, Blood River by Michael Richan (Dantull)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by michaelrichan (author): 2 paperback copies, signed by the author. Amazon review requested.

Description: Downwind: the area of the United States that received the brunt of the fallout from nuclear testing. As a result, humans developed cancers and congenital malformations… and so did the creatures in the River, the place where people with “the gift” see things others cannot.

Twenty-year-old Deem is gifted, but she is on her own without her mentor, her late father. Deem’s family is tormented by a strange creature that climbs on their roof at night and infects the house with poison. With help from the charismatic Winn, Deem tries to stop the attacks, but this is only the beginning, with more ghosts, Callers, and mutated creatures to come.

Deem met Steven and Roy when she helped save their son from the ghosts at St. Thomas. She was impressed by Roy’s use of their ancestors’ journals to assist with their work. Deem is confident her father left behind a journal for her somewhere, but her dangerous search becomes riddled with menacing secrets and revelations, putting people’s lives at risk.

Deem and Winn are not alone; they are helped by Awan, a handsome Paiute who knows Native American tradition and can explain the strange forces targeting Deem. They also meet Carma, a friendly soul with a fantastic and valuable secret buried in her house.

Blood Oath, Blood River is the first book in The Downwinders series, a spinoff of The River series, in which Deem and Winn first appear in Book Six, Devil’s Throat. Blood Oath, Blood River is a stand-alone novel; no prior experience with The River series is necessary to enjoy it. Fans of The River series will be intrigued by this new exploration of the River, set in a place where downwind radiation has made the ghosts and creatures of the River strange and unpredictable.

It's All About Muhammad, a Biography of the World's Most Notorious Prophet by Frank Burleigh (Zenga Books)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by FWBurleigh (publisher): Zenga Books is giving away 20 copies of It's All About Muhammad to LT members in exchange for a review on Library Thing and anywhere else they wish to post it.

The book is 556 pages in length, including 47 pages of double-column chapter notes, 25 illustrations, a bibliography, and an index.

Description: It’s All About Muhammad is a detailed and very readable biography of the creator of Islam based primarily on the original sources of Islam—the canonical works that form the foundation for Muslim beliefs. It is also illustrated, with 25 black and white drawings inspired by the original literature.

The author studied 20,000 pages of these documents and concluded from the extreme violence of Muhammad—as documented in the original literature—that he was a psychopath. Burleigh asks, "What other word can be used for a man who once presided over the beheading of up to 900 men and boys because they refused to accept him as their prophet?"

We invite you to read Chapter 23: The Final Solution, posted at Zenga Books, to get an idea of the fine writing and also see three of the illustrations, which have to do with the beheading of the Jewish men and boys.

Muslims down through the last 14 centuries have been indoctrinated into the belief that God talked to Muhammad, but the evidence of their own literature is that he suffered from temporal lobe epilepsy, the same disease Dostoevsky suffered from. (In his writing, Dostoevsky commented about Muhammad's epilepsy.) The ecstatic moments of the epileptic experiences led Muhammad to believe he was in communion with God. He attributed the words of the Koran to God, though an objective reading of the Koran reveals it as the product of an extremely angry and disturbed mind.

This book is not an argument that Islam is evil because it is a reflection of the evil of its creator. It’s All About Muhammad is a presentation of what is in the source material, told by a gifted storyteller who uncovered the telling anecdotes and the revealing quotes. Burleigh drew his own conclusion: Muslims do what they do because of Muhammad's example, hence the title: It’s All About Muhammad. But it is up to readers to examine what is in the book and reach their own conclusion.

Sadie Sapiens by Jeff T Bauer (Jeff T Bauer, Paula Slade)

This is an audiobook.

Offered by JeffBauer (author): Get a free coupon code to download an audio book copy of Sadie Sapiens from audible.com. Hear the voice of the world's first talking dog!

Description: "Plenty of depth in one little dog!":

This is not your average “talking dog” story. While “Sadie Sapiens” certainly has its cute and humorous moments, the book explores a much broader and deeper range of emotional and intellectual territory than its whimsical premise might imply. Super-smart chihuahua Sadie and her teenage human companion Emma brave their way through a rollercoaster ride of exciting and harrowing experiences. Many of their adventures center around Sadie’s remarkable talents, but just as often the drama arises from the everyday tragedies and triumphs of real life. Both heroines emerge from their respective traumas stronger, wiser, and with a greater sense of self. Their journey is a heartwarming one, with a dog/human “pack” bond like no other.

Mystery with an espionage twist

Our critics whisper we’re dangerous, unaccountable private spies. We’re just the Merit Group, a simple think tank with government contracts.

He came away with two things: a dossier detailing the obscure events leading to his brief federal incarceration and a job offer from the Merit Group. He runs from any organization that would want to hire the “old” Hugh Brier, but when his life blossoms with danger and enemies can he afford the luxury of saying no?

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Roger_Pepper (author): I will supply MOBI, EPUB and PDF files to the winners. Your feedback and reviews will be sincerely appreciated.

Offered by StevePerlow (author): Thanks for entering. I’ll email a copy in mobi and epub format, for reading on Kindle, Nook, smartphones, tablets, computers, or any device. Reviews at Amazon are greatly appreciated, and please spread the word about the book if you enjoy it.

Description: The Dark Elves and their savage black dragons have been defeated. Emotes wield the only magic left in the world, the ability to heal those they care for. Gold dragons ensure that the peace that has lasted for hundreds of years continues to endure.

A youthful princess regards the tranquil age a boring one offering no chance of valor, so she escapes her kingdom to scout in the forest of the Red Elves.

A knight turned bounty hunter, who’s never lost a fight, finds himself the target of a plot hatched by desperate young twins.

A brooding half-elf, summoned by an old friend to the fort she commands, harbors a deep love and hides a harrowing secret.

Thankfully for those in peaceful Taulus who dream of conflict, the Dark Elves are not dwelling idly in their swamp prison.

The evil stirring in the east threatens all beyond their swamp’s borders—restless princess, gallant bounty hunter, clever twins, and troubled half-elf alike.

Golden Dragons, Gilded Age, is the first book in The Grand Crucible.

My Psychic War with Uncle Sam by E. Alexander Scianna (Harmonious Circle Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by alecazandre (publisher): E-book edition (.epub or .mobi) of our timely underground literary fiction novel My Psychic War with Uncle Sam.

We’d appreciate your sincere LT book-review, and if possible on Barnes & Noble (http://goo.gl/x1CnT) or Amazon (http://goo.gl/Z2rKw).

Regards,
Harmonious Circle Press
http://theharmoniouscirclepress.net

Description: An intellectual coming of age, My Psychic War with Uncle Sam swings from life on the military base with G.I. Joes in starched fatigues to the streets of Seattle where Dennis and Marcel encounter the hippie culture seeking nirvana on hallucinogenic drugs. The reader is taken on an exhilarating romp through western thought and history as the ideological struggles that permeated the 60’s generation are juxtaposed with the uncertainties of modern day life. With heavy doses of mysticism, drama, and humor—just to keep things interesting—the authors ask, “Who is Uncle Sam?”

Dennis DeLuccio invites the reader into his underground garden to rethink politics, war, sex, drugs, philosophy, religion, the occult, the origin of the hippie movement, and the meaning of a psychic war. Dennis drifts back to 1968 and his first assignment at Fort Lewis, Washington. He remembers Marcel Dreyfus, a young soldier who has just returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam. The many GI’s who say they don’t believe in the war, yet stand at attention, fall silent and follow orders even as they are shipped out to Nam, mystified Dennis. Marcel however cuts through the illusions of the so-called patriots with wit and rhetoric.

Packed with documented facts of U.S. foreign policy, paraphrased from the works of Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Bertrand Russell and others, as well as broadcast news reports of the period, My Psychic War with Uncle Sam infuses social comment with lived experience. Like Joseph Heller’s Catch-22, it fashions the account of a young army recruit living stateside through the Vietnam era into an eloquent and deeply funny plea against butchery in the service of authority. My Psychic War with Uncle Sam weaves historical fact and dramatic fiction into an essential storybook of our times that is both entertaining and enlightening.

“What a surprise! This is an exuberant romp through history, politics, and philosophy, through the eyes of a modern Alice in Wonderland. Escaping down a hole in his living room floor, Dennis seeks refuge from the horrors of 9-11 in his secret garden only to confront madness and paranoia, as he tends his garden and searches for an understanding of his experiences in the army during the Viet Nam era. The novel will keep you wondering what supposed masters of truth can be trusted to guide Dennis home in his psychic war with Uncle Sam?”
—Cynthia McKinney, U.S. Congresswoman and 2008 Green Party U.S. Presidential Nominee

“A dramatic account of one man’s psychic and political struggle against the cant and crimes of establishment institutions. Written with engaging candor and much human spirit.”
—Michael Parenti, author of Contrary Notions and God and His Demons

So far My Psychic War with Uncle Sam is earning mostly 5-star reviews on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, LibraryThing, and Goodreads. Here are some links relevant to the novel and its authors:

Description: The Unfamiliar Territory of Home

Senior Kara Jagger returns to Trinity, a private boarding school in New Mexico, after completing a student exchange in Australia. She needs the comfort of familiar surroundings, but realizes her friends have changed. Her ex-boyfriend, Ryan, is heavily into a new romance with Christie, a girl who has copied Kara’s look. Christie forbids Ryan to speak to Kara and tries to intimidate Kara into doing the same.
Meanwhile, Kara experiences reverse culture shock. She misses Ben, the boyfriend she left in Australia, and the sense of security that her relationships with both Ben and Ryan previously gave her. So why not try to win Ryan’s attention again, Kara justifies to herself, since jealous Christie accuses her of wanting a second chance with him anyway?
Still, playing a part in a love triangle means someone’s going to be the odd one out. Kara’s rekindled passion for Ryan leaves her feeling confused and causes Christie to act with increasing desperation. The three are eventually enveloped in scandal that threatens to further isolate Kara from her friends and peers.
As the end of high school approaches, Kara must find a way to emotionally graduate to the person she wants to be, or risk hanging back in the darkness of a painful past.

Description: The sands blow hollowly across the plains of time. Unseen by man an army was on the move, an army of darkness……

Slowly over the course of centuries the truth has been eroded away within the courts of men, until few yet stand for the ways of El Elyon, the Creator of the beginning and He who foreknew that one day the end would come……

Ayenathurim, a world poised on the edge of change. Chaos beckons as people fractured apart by ancient rivalries strive to hold on. The sounds of war echo on the wind, but who yet is able to stand in the gap for those who are blind to the signs of the times…………………the end, if so it must be, heralds the rise of heroes, even as monsters roar, and kings rise and fall. As Evil triumphs over the nations, even so it was foretold to come to pass and yet the end of darkness’s reign has already begun……

World of Shawn by Jordan M Ehrlich (Smashwords)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Jordan.M.Ehrlich (author): I am the author of this book, and I would love for more people to read it, so I'm offering it free now through Epiphany (January 6th)! I thoroughly enjoyed writing this little labor of love, and I want it to get into everyone's hands! A quick review after you read it would be very much appreciated! Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Description: This is the story of a lonely kid who develops a computer game, using what little of quantum physics that he has read, that renders game levels from maps of any format; the result is just a little too realistic. When he tries to combine this "World of Shawn" with a favorite game of his childhood, "World of One," he soon finds Worlds colliding, to the detriment of his friends. Shawn must step up and rectify things, rescue the princess and save the World.

The interaction and constant dialogue between the characters in this story, as well as the humor and action intertwined, have drawn comparison to that in such works as "The Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter," and "Narnia," so if a reader has an interest in any of those, as well as an interest in video games, either in the past or the present, it would be a safe bet that they would enjoy getting to know Shawn and his World!

"My wife bought this book for me and thought as a gamer that I might like it! Man was she right! Very exciting, non stop thrill ride. Very well thought out and constructed. –Richard Harland, author of Worldshaker

"Strasser’s unique blend of adventure, esotericism, Eastern mysticism, and fantasy makes for compelling reading… Strasser has not just written down a legend, rather, he has crafted one."
–Amazon review

"I found myself getting wrapped up in the book; I read the last two hundred pages in a single sitting, intrigued as to where it was heading. The Zen (ith?) philosophy behind it appealed to me far more than the mythology behind most fantasy novels... Zenith is enjoyable, entertaining and, in the end, a satisfying read."

Be FUNNY or DIE by Gabriel Angelo (SN & NS Publications)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by gabrielangelo (publisher): The eBook will be delivered via a Smashwords coupon so you can choose the eBook format you prefer.

We are giving away these books to increase exposure for the book, but to get your helpful feedback for the upcoming revised 2nd Edition and to also get more reviews online. Reviews on Amazon, Goodreads and LibraryThing are appreciated. Serious reliable readers only please.

Description: TO: The one reading this now wanting to be FUNNY, who is NOT, or is already, but wants to be MORE funny...

Howdy! Hey you! Yeah...YOU!

Why are you even here reading this wanting to be funny? Ah, let me guess...

Is it to impress the hot ladies or cute guys, hoping to get into her panties or his tidy-whities?

Is it to get along with your boss, colleagues, families, or whoever the heck is in your life?

Is it to make people like you and have more friends because you have nada?

Is it to advance your professional life to have all the fancy cars, big house, and shoes (ladies)?

Is it to have a freaking awesome social life to be Mr. or Ms. Congeniality?

Now listen up for I got a funny bone to pick with you. Let me let you in on a little secret. Being funny is not a talent you are born with, in fact, anybody can be mad funny, even if they're not (especially if they're not).

You know deep down, you know that already or else, why would you be interested in "learning" how to be funny.

Still don't believe you can be damn funny? Fine, you left me no choice...

Let's put it this way, what if somebody were to put a pistol to your head and said, "Be funny, or die!" You would force yourself to be ridiculously damn funny like you never thought possible!

That's what "Be FUNNY or DIE" will do, make you ridiculously damn funny.

Just have a look at how funny you can be:

How to spice up any of your interaction with "funny recipes" to be a comical conversationalist (talking muy caliente) to get people laughing their tails off?

How to be master of the witty one-liners, that you can pull out of thin air and have people impress by such talented creative-wit of yours (haha good one)?

How to be spontaneous always have the right things to say to generate a laugh, or get out of troublesome sticky situations ("uh-oh, oh-no" but fear not)?

How to create and tell your funny jokes the right way, so you always over deliver the goods and won't fall flat on your tooshie (ouch! that's gonna gotta hurt)?

How to craft and come up with your own hilarious stories to tell whenever and wherever you want, to get people falling for you (marry me please!)?

How to actually be funny rather than just saying something funny, and the different comical character archetypes that you can emulate to be funny (laughing with you, not at you)?

How to incorporate humor into your everyday life, and have a lifestyle always comprising of humor and good laughters (you're so funny)?

...and that's only just a tip on the bird's nest. There's many more goodies in stored for you on the other side.

Well? What you waiting for?

Do you want to be funny or not? Don't make me force you.

Be funny, or die! The choice is yours.

A King in Marna by Siran McKenzie

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by SiranMcKenzie (author): I request an honest review of the book to be posted on Amazon or Barnes and Noble.

This epic fantasy novel follows the adventure of Keeper Terah ni'Lordin of the Sisterhood of Enlightened Mercy as she travels to Marna to help choose a king. She is aided by friends, beset by enemies, and has no idea whom to trust. Selecting the right king will save her world. Choosing the wrong one could plunge it into unremitting darkness!

Lovers of high fantasy who enjoy David Eddings, Robert Jordan, and L.E. Modesitt Jr., will enjoy a world of diverse cultures, peoples, beliefs, terrifying creatures, magic, knives in the dark, and political machinations.

Description: The King in Marnathia is dead! There is no heir, leaving the various noble factions, and the church jostling for the crown, threatening chaos and civil war. The Sisterhood of Enlightened Mercy in Neral cannot let this happen. Terah ni’Lordin, the Keeper of Discipline, is chosen to lead an embassy to help the King’s Council select a new ruler. As she prepares to leave, she stumbles across what might be an ancient and long forgotten prophecy. It is disturbing to her, and she vows to investigate it further after her mission is completed, for nothing is more important than stopping the streets of Marna, capital of Marnathia, from running red in blood. Unfortunately for Terah, dark forces are already arrayed against her and her Sisterhood, seeking their destruction as revenge against her goddess who was pivotal in sealing their master away, with the aid of the other gods. On the way to Marna the embassy is attacked by foul creatures, and cursed of all ill luck, a Sorcerer of old! On the plains, Corith son of Durgos of the Golden Eagle Tribe comes to the age of manhood. His destiny is set. When his father dies, he will be chief. Yet Corith is plagued with dark dreams and visions that haunt him. He seeks the council of the shaman, and her interpretation of the dreams is worse than the dreams themselves. In the town of Zerash eleven year old Deren is a happy boy, living with his father, mother, and sister in a modest home in a good neighborhood. Tragedy strikes his family, leaving his father and mother dead. Coming into the possession of what he believes to be an ordinary dagger, his life goes from bad to worse. Deren is abducted by Black Isler slavers and taken across the seas to the mysterious Black Isles. There he will carve out a life as a very powerful warrior-slave serving a prince of that land. Yet prophecy and fate has another destiny in mind for him, for he is a weapon that could cut either way, and he becomes a Shadow of his former self. As the future in Marnathia looks uncertain, the other kingdoms on the continent jostle in anticipation, some with bated breath in celebratory glee, and others in uncertainty and doubt. The King in Marna always served to unite the others together against common foes, and without the head, alliances will crumble, and shift. For other kingdoms savor the role Marnathia has played, seeing themselves as the true head. Crowning a King in Marna would stop blood from flowing on the streets, and it would also help those who wish the False One to be defeated stand a fighting chance. The right king could accomplish this; the wrong king will open the gates of hell. The task before Terah is graver than she even thought, and her decision will affect more than one nation. All the while, the dark threads of the Sorcerer is being woven through every nation, every land, and in the very heart of Neral itself!

The Lion Trees by Owen Thomas (OTF Literary)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Owen_Thomas (author): "The Lion Trees," is a highly entertaining and very accessible work of literary fiction which, in the first 100 days of its existence, has already received Honorable Mention at both the Southern California Book Festival and the Great Midwest Book Festival. The soft back version of the novel comes in two volumes and is currently retailing at around $42. The author is giving away 50 copies of the ebook version (Mobi and ePub formats only) to collect reviews from readers to be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and/or Barnes & Noble.

Description: What happens when you get the life you aim for and it hurts like hell?

The Johns family is unraveling. Hollis, a retired Ohio banker, isolates himself in esoteric hobbies and a dangerous flirtation with a colleague’s daughter. Susan, his wife of forty years, risks everything for a second chance at who she might have become. David, their eldest, thrashes to stay afloat as his teaching career capsizes in a storm of accusations involving a missing student and the legacy of Christopher Columbus. And young Tilly, the black sheep, having traded literary promise for an improbable career as a Hollywood starlet, struggles to define herself amid salacious scandal, the demands of a powerful director, and the judgments of an uncompromising writer.

By turns comical and poignant, the Johns family is tumbling toward the discovery that sometimes you have to let go of your identity to find out who you are.

“[A] cerebral page turner…a powerful and promising debut.”—Kirkus Reviews

“[FOUR STARS]… In its structure and nature, [The Lion Trees] reminds me above all of John Updike’s wonderful Harry Rabbit novels and their ability to summarize the essence of change in American society across a decade at a time.” – BookIdeas.com

“[FIVE STARS]… [A] powerful, gripping and realistic story…The Lion Trees does what so very few great novels can: it will take a lot out of you, but leave you with much more than you had when you began.”—Pacific Book Reviews.

"[FOUR STARS]... If there is only one book that you are going to read this year, make it The Lion Trees.—Moterwriter.com

"[FIVE STARS]...[T]his was an astounding read for me. Not only was the story telling mesmerizing, but Owen’s writing style is inspiring. His writing is seamless and flawless and makes me yearn for more. After reading both of these books, I’ve nominated [The Lion Trees] for Book of the Year Awards, I truly believe this is the best story that I’ve read this year, actually in a long time. This is what fiction and novels were initially created to be. It’s not only beautifully crafted, but it becomes a part of you.” —LiteraryLitter.com

To a remote island comes a young woman seeking to find the truth of what happened to her family ten years before. But will the questions she asks only serve to draw her deeper into the labyrinth of mystery and magic that lies sleeping beneath this island's pristine surface?

And will her mother be once again caught in a vicious web of love, jealousy, betrayal and revenge that will make it impossible for her to shield her daughter from the dark forces that may ultimately seek to consume and destroy them both?

Journey with Karen Andersen and her family back to MATEGUAS ISLAND - a return to the legends, mythos, passion and terror that lie dormant just beneath the surface - waiting and longing for this chance to be yet again reawakened!

MATEGUAS ISLAND was the winner of the Readers' Favorite 2014 Gold Medal in Supernatural Fiction and recipient of an "Honorable Mention" in Fiction from the 2014 Halloween Book Festival. RETURN TO MATEGUAS is the second full-length novel in the Mateguas Trilogy.

Listen to what people are already saying about RETURN TO MATEGUAS:
"This is a quick-paced story portraying a wide range of human emotions, deadly supernatural forces and ancient Native American beliefs that may help the characters survive the ordeal in store. It explores the depths of love and loss, dedication and defiance, innocence and desire - all in spite of the threat of losing everything. This is supernatural fiction at its best with a hint of coming-of-age enlightenment to appeal to younger readers as well as readers of all ages." ~ Melinda Hills for Readers' Favorite

"Excellent storyline, excellent characters in all-round thrilling read. Linda’s attention to detail is second to none and the book is very professionally written. Loved it!" ~ Anne-Marie Reynolds for Readers' Favorite

And Then Something Cool Happened by Todd Brabander (Todd Brabander)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by todd13 (author): Hello folks!
I have another collection of short stories for the world to read, and, as I've done before, I am giving Library Thing users the chance to get the stories first, and get them for free. All I need from you is a review.
This is an unusual collection stories. I decided to purposefully stray away from traditional horror and comedy that I usually write and instead write very realistic, very absurd stories. The results are sometimes horrifying and sometimes hilarious. A few of these stories are admittedly tough to read. The story of Shambles the Clown is a good example. Some people will find it horrifying and disgusting. Some people will find it hilarious and ridiculous. That’s the point of this collection. Regardless of whether you are moved or amused, I hope you find it entertaining.
Once this giveaway ends I will email codes for a free download on Smashwords.

Description: The line between comedy and tragedy is wide and blurry. These 8 stories fit into that blurry space. Spanning from Victorian England to the year 2500, from horrific to hilarious, these tales cover cats, clowns, drugs, toast, bodily fluids, and even Santa Claus. And then something cool happened.

Description: -ATTENTION-

The Hunter Class Spacecraft designated 'The Amberjack' disappeared during a routine mission to Seek, Locate and Destroy the enemy Machine Mind contingent known as ‘The Ochre’. Conclusion: It was either destroyed by the Ochre or went rogue for reasons unknown. If sighted, approach with extreme caution.

On the planet Borealis, a violent revolution forces Samantha Marriot and her parents to flee their home for the relative safety of ‘The Rainbow Islands’. Once there, Sam discovers a secret her father has been keeping from her all her life, a secret that will change everything.

Meanwhile, The Machine Mind Hierarchy of Earth dispatches a ship to rid themselves of the planet’s troublesome human population. The only hope of a defence lies with a damaged binary Hunter unit that has long since abandoned both its programming and weaponry.

In order for the unit to succeed it must call upon the aid of an ancient enemy, and prove, once and for all, that it is a Hunter no more.

Description: Between fighting a race of magic-wielding winged monsters, scaling Krakens, blinding Cyclops, running from Sirens, and being abducted by pirates it’s all Arc Arcanum can do to keep his head on straight; literally. After losing the only home he’s ever known, and with nowhere else to turn, Arc enlists with the Human Liberation Front to fight against a ruthless species known as the Winged Ones and prevent them from unleashing a world-wide human holocaust. He’s tasked (completely by accident) with escorting humanity’s last hope, a red-eyed android named Celeste, across the sea to one of the few remaining human safe havens. To make matters worse he’s accompanied by two fellow cadets: the feisty vixen Rose and the polyamorous playboy Prince, both of whom seem entirely set on making sure nothing goes as planned. It’s a magical journey that proves blood isn’t the only bond that makes a family.

Description: As Lucifer fell from Heaven, he was not alone. The Greek and Norse gods, as they would later be known, were originally angels allied with Lucifer in the rebellion against God. Now, their children have found the truth and, under God's command, have bound their parents. The archangels of Hell have made it their mission to release the gods and return them to their former glory. The Dimidium Angelus, as the children are known, fight the forces of evil through thousands of years in order to keep their parents bound. The children find they may be in over their heads, however, as Azazel, the most powerful archangel they have faced in their immortal lives, joins the fight. Only the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy will bring them victory.

Description: Chapel Ryan isn't crazy. At least, that's what she's been trying to convince herself of for most of her life. But after being hallucination-free for three years, Chapel finds herself facedown on her English classroom’s gritty linoleum floor. When she looks up, everyone around her is suspended in animation. Mouths hang open mid-yawn, feet hover mid-cross, Ms. Freeman’s arm flexes mid-sentence diagram. It's another hallucination. Or, is it?

Chapel prepares to tear herself back to reality when something happens. Something that has never happened before in any of her hallucinations—someone moves. And not just any someone—it’s the new guy with a scar over his lip and a reputation as black as his perfectly styled hair. And all of the sudden Chapel's white-knuckle grip on her life has slipped, and with it, her assurance that what she's experiencing isn't real.

Description: Fleeing their homes in the city, three teens find themselves on the run with little kids in tow. As people vanish and buildings crumble, they seek shelter in the nearby mountains. Survival depends on their ability to adapt with nothing more than the items pilfered from a crumbling store. Hovering in the background is the constant threat of being discovered by the aliens, adding to the pressure the teens feel having no shelter, a limited supply of food and the well-being of three children to ensure. They must come up with some creative solutions before the inevitable onset of winter, while attempting to remain “invisible” to avoid capture. Being mature and responsible is no longer optional as they deal with their individual personalities, traumas, and learn to raise a baby. Unaware of the extent of the alien destruction, they can’t help but wonder if all their efforts are in vain.

And Corina…isn’t sure how she feels about the death of a father she never really met.

But when a mysterious old man confronts Corina at her father’s funeral, she finds herself drawn to his impossible offer: a chance to know the late Luther Marion. And in a moment of uncertainty, Corina makes a choice with consequences she can barely fathom. A choice that sends her to the last place she ever expected to go.

Her father’s hometown. Six hundred miles south.

Strange Magic by James A. Hunter

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by JAHunter13 (author): Hello, I’m James A. Hunter, the author of Strange Magic, and I’m giving away a limited number of free copies in order to generate early reviews. I will supply MOBI files to the winners!

Description: "Move over Harry Dresden because there's a new wizard in town. Yancy Lazarus a chain-smoking, take no prisoners S.O.B. with a heart of gold and a fistful of primal power. A stellar debut novel from James Hunter, the next big name in Urban Fantasy."
—Rick Gualtieri, Author of Bill the Vampire (The Tome of Bill)

+++++++

Yancy Lazarus is having a bad day: there’s a bullet lodged in his butt cheek, his face looks like the site of a demolition derby, and he’s been saran-wrapped to a banquet table. He never should have answered the phone. Stupid bleeding heart—helping others in his circles is a good way to get dead.

Just ask the gang members ripped to pieces by some kind of demonic nightmare in LA. As a favor to a friend, Yancy agrees to take a little looksee into the massacre and boom, he’s stuck in a turf war between two rival gangs, which both think he’s pinch-hitting for the other side. Oh, and there’s also a secretive jerk with some mean ol’ magical chops and a small army of hyena-faced, body-snatching baddies. It might be time to seriously reconsider some of his life choices.

Yancy is a bluesman, a rambler, a gambler, but not much more. Sure, he can do a little magic—maybe even more than just a little magic—but he knows enough to keep his head down and stay clear of freaky-deaky hoodoo like this business in LA. Somehow though, he’s been set up to take a real bad fall—the kind of very permanent fall that leaves a guy with a toe tag. Unless, of course, he can find out who is responsible for the gangland murders, make peace in the midst of the gang feud, and take out said magical jerk before he hexes Yancy into an early retirement. Easy right? Stupid. Bleeding. Heart.

Four days into their honeymoon in Greece, Bernice and David Dando have yet to consummate their marriage and after having accepted his almost non-existent desire for sex throughout the relationship, Bernice finally discovers the reason; he is addicted to porn. Learning that the love of her life chooses the cheap thrill of fantasy over her is devastating but then, 'every man does it; it’s just looking, right?’ If she leaves the relationship because of virtual adultery, will she be labelled as pathological, overreacting, or even worse, frigid?

When funny, feisty, forty-something Bernice plans the adventure trip of a lifetime, she doesn’t expect to be spending it alone. But as it turns out, unintentionally contributing to a Greek fish explosion, nude karaoke and hilarious misadventures with volcanoes are exactly what she needs to stop fretting about errant husbands and really start living. But when Mr D tries to win her back, Bernice has a decision to make: is this a holiday from her humdrum life, or the start of a whole new adventure?

"The New Mrs D is a refreshing, sharp-witted and empowering romp that reflects real life, delves into unspoken about subjects and slaps the reader in the face with honesty." Fleur Ferris, author

It is a story about one woman's midlife awakening... on her honeymoon alone.

Red Meat Cures Cancer by Starbuck O'Dwyer (Random House/Vintage)

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by StarbuckODwyer (author): A signed copy will be sent promptly to the winner. Please follow Starbuck on Twitter, Goodreads or Facebook for updates on other promotions as well as notifications of funny free stories.

Description: *AUTOGRAPHED COPY* Rare opportunity to win a signed copy of an award-winning CULT CLASSIC of political incorrectness. Not for the easily offended, Red Meat was a silver-medalist in the Independent Publisher Book Awards (humor) and a bronze-medalist in the ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year Awards (humor) before being acquired at auction and published by Marty Asher, legendary editor-in-chief of Knopf's Vintage and Anchor Books imprint. Quoted in Publisher's Weekly Daily, Asher said, "What appealed to me most about Starbuck's novel was how it managed to be universally offensive. Neither right-wingers, nor lefties, meat-eaters or vegetarians, CEOs or clerks could take any solace from this hilarious, outrageous satire. At such a politically correct moment in time as this, who could possibly resist publishing a book that pisses everybody off, regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, eating habits or whatever?"

MAKER: Until all is lost, nothing is found.
Conclude the epic story of Ambra Dawn in the final installment of the trilogy. A story in which the one that was lost will be found. Where a thief will guide through chaos and time. Where all that was held dear will perish. And in that final and utter destruction—there will be a Creation.

"Deeply thoughtful and exciting, warping the expectations of the genre... reminds me of Dan Simmons' Hyperion." —San Francisco Book Reviews, WRITER

"A gripping science-fiction epic that will propel readers toward wonder" —ForeWord Reviews, READER

"Unique and altogether profound, reminiscent of Bradbury, haunting, thought-provoking and surprisingly philosophical" -San Francisco Book Reviews, READER

"A richly detailed, compelling story about the power of love." —Kirkus Review of READER

"Another epic story" —Midwest Book Reviews, WRITER

"Erec Stebbins concludes his Daughter of Time trilogy with a novel that manages to outpace its predecessors in its capacity to induce awe. Maker is a continuously rewarding science fiction work in which many surprises reach cosmic proportions. Exploratory fiction at its most powerful and intelligent. These are works that nurture wonder and sometimes break hearts. A brilliant conclusion to a series that tests the elasticity of imagination, with consistently stunning results."—ForeWord Reviews, MAKER
