Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by StephanieVercier (author): In exchange for a copy of Between the Girls (first published on February 4, 2017), I'd be incredibly appreciative of a read and review on Amazon and/or Goodreads! This ebook can be provided in mobi, epub and pdf formats. Thanks so much for your consideration.

Description: An attack by a neighbor’s dog when he was seven left Tyler Duncan with scars that were more often hidden than seen, scars that went beyond the physical and would eventually make him question his own manhood.

Ten years later, his reaction to a painful breakup with his first love has triggered his family’s move from Denver to the small Eastern Washington town of Basin Lake.

Beginning his last year of high school in a new town and still holding on to feelings for his ex, he meets Claire Kessel, a girl as stunning as she is smart, a girl that just might help him forget everything bad in his life if he doesn’t manage to mess it all up.

Seventeen-year-old Claire Kessel has always dreamed of becoming a doctor. It’s a career choice aided by the passing of her father from multiple sclerosis when she was a young girl. She doesn’t want anything to get in the way of her goals, especially not boys or the drama they bring with them.

But, as her senior year begins, her beloved younger sister is keeping things from her, her ex-boyfriend returns wanting another chance, and she’s finding it difficult to ignore the arrival of the new, gorgeous and mysterious guy named Tyler.

When high school draws to a close, can Tyler and Claire find a way to stay together, or will adult life and the weight of past loves pull them apart?

Between the Girls is book three of The Basin Lake Series and may be read as a standalone novel.

Jeffrey Dahmer: A Terrifying True Story of Rape, Murder & Cannibalism by Jack Rosewood

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by kekmaw (publisher): ***PLEASE ONLY ENTER THIS GIVEAWAY IF YOU ARE ABLE TO LEAVE A REVIEW ON AMAZON***

Description: ***PLEASE ONLY ENTER THIS GIVEAWAY IF YOU ARE ABLE TO LEAVE A REVIEW ON AMAZON***

Few serial killers in history have garnered as much attention as Jeffrey Lionel Dahmer. Although Dahmer killed seventeen young men and boys, it was not so much the number of people he killed that makes him stand out among famous serial killers, but more so the acts of depravity that he committed on the corpses of his victims. In this true crime story you will read how Dahmer transitioned from a loner to serial killer, committing numerous unnatural acts along the way such as necrophilia and cannibalism. Following in the macabre tradition of another infamous Wisconsin serial killer—Ed Gein—Jeffrey Dahmer terrorized Milwaukee for most of the 1980s until he was finally captured in 1991.

Perhaps one of the most frightening aspects of Jeffrey Dahmer’s serial killer career was how easy he was able to lure his victims into his trap. Dahmer possessed above average intellect, was conventionally good looking, and usually had a calm demeanor that could disarm even the most paranoid of people. Because of these traits, Dahmer was able to evade justice numerous times, which allowed him to keep killing. Truly, Dahmer was able to fool his family, the police, his neighbors, and even the judicial system into believing that he was not a threat; but during the entire time his kill count increased and the body parts of his victims began to pile up around his apartment.

Open the pages of this book to read a story that is among the most disturbing of all true crime serial killers. You will follow the course of Dahmer’s life from an alcoholic outcast in high school to a vicious predator who stalked the streets of Milwaukee. Finally, you will read about Dahmer’s trial, his jail house murder, and the impact that his many crimes had on Milwaukee.

Description: Sprawled across the winding bell tower stairs of the village church, with unseeing eyes that glow orange in the dawn light, is the corpse of mysterious stranger - and standing a few steps below, looking at the body, is 11-year-old Annabelle Knopp.

A few days later, as she and the other villagers watch the stranger's body being lowered into his grave, Annabelle assumes it is the last she will ever see of him.

She is wrong.

The corpse on the church steps was only the first unexpected event to strike the quiet village on the hill to the North. An odd little man who can turn into birds appears in the Wood, a menacing shadow stalks the Wild, and villagers begin to disappear from their beds.

When her parents go missing, Annabelle enlists the help of her friend Turo on a dangerous journey to save them. Together they venture into a world of magic that they never knew existed, and they learn there is more truth to their old bedtime stories than they ever could have imagined

Previous giveaway winners have called To the North:

"Magnificent! A whimsical fairytale novel of good vs. evil..."
"Warm and honest and magical."
"An original fantasy that was fresh and interesting."

Averaging 4.5 stars on Amazon, Goodreads and LibraryThing!

To the North is the first installment in The Villages anthology. Inspired by legends and mythologies across northern Europe, the books take you to four small, isolated villages, where people live quiet lives and are largely unconcerned with the happenings of the World Beyond.

Little do the villagers know that the worlds of magic surround them on all sides, and that the inhabitants of these worlds - monsters and mages, shadows and spirits, goblins and gods - have a tendency to fall through the gaps.

The second book in the anthology, To the East, is also currently available on Kindle, Kindle Unlimited, and in paperback.

The Mask of Sanity by Jacob M. Appel (Permanent Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by AppelJacobM (author): PDFs direct from the author.

I am always grateful for reviews.

Description: On the outside, Dr. Jeremy Balint is a pillar of the community: the youngest division chief at his hospital, a model son to his elderly parents, fiercely devoted to his wife and two young daughters. On the inside, Dr. Jeremy Balint is a high-functioning sociopath—a man who truly believes himself to stand above the ethical norms of society. As long as life treats him well, Balint has no cause to harm others. When life treats him poorly, he reveals the depths of his cold-blooded depravity.

At a cultural moment when the media bombards us with images of so-called sociopaths who strive for good and criminals redeemed by repentance,The Mask of Sanity offers an antidote to implausible tales of evil gone right. In contrast to fictional predecessors like Dostoyevesky's Raskolnikov and Camus' Mersault, Dr. Balint is a man who already has it all —and will do everything in his power, no matter how immoral, to keep what he has.

The story of "friends-by circumstance who decide they must do something important in order to change their lives," Goliath is a rollicking underdog tale about a misguided attempt to bring the Academy Awards ceremony to Rochester, NY and to save the city in the process. To allow me to give you periodic updates on new release and giveaways, please like my Facebook page and/or follow me on Goodreads or Twitter. Reviews on Goodreads, Amazon and Library Thing or the platforms of your choice are much appreciated. Thank you.

Description: Named a 2012 Indie Reader Discovery Awards finalist (parenting) and a 2011 Foreword Reviews Book of the Year finalist (both humor and essay categories), How to Raise a Good Kid is not a conventional "how-to" but rather a collection of 23 humorous and heartfelt stories about the challenges and joys of growing up for both parents and children. By way of background, Good Kid is the first in a series of two books with its sequel, High School Dance, having just been released. The origin of the two books is as follows:

How to Raise a Good Kid and High School Dance are the culmination of a project that began shortly after my wife and I welcomed our son to the world. Like most first-time fathers, I felt a new and profound sense of responsibility and immediately became determined to pass along every lesson I believed was important. So even though my pride and joy was only drooling, pooping and sleeping at this point, and was years away from absorbing his dad’s hard-earned wisdom, I refused to let any of those pesky details get in my way.

First, I made a list of the events of my childhood that taught me the most, the ones that made the biggest impressions, both good and bad. This exercise forced me to revisit many harrowing experiences such as batting zero in little league baseball, my chronic addiction to a blanket, my disastrously unsuccessful try-out for the role of Winthrop in The Music Man, and the time I mooned the entire sixth grade. I wanted to let my son know whatever hardship he might face; his father had already been there, learned something of value and survived. I also wanted to let him know about all the fun and joy I experienced as a child and the love my parents showed me.

After compiling my list, however, I realized it wasn’t going to be enough. What if, God forbid, I wasn’t around to tell him the full story behind each enumerated item? I couldn’t bear the thought so I decided to turn the list into a book of stories about my childhood. Over time, the project evolved into two books: one about my grade school years, How to Raise a Good Kid, and one about my junior and senior high school years, High School Dance.

Few times in life are more memorable than our school years. Humiliation, heartbreak and failure are abundant, and that’s on a good day. No matter who you are, coming of age is exciting, confusing and sometimes downright dangerous, and I’ve tried to capture both the agony and the ecstasy. My wife and I were fortunate enough to add a daughter to our family in the intervening years and my great hope is that she and her brother will someday read these stories, learn a few lessons, come to know their father even better, and above all, remember how much I love them.

Description: Four years ago, I was just an ordinary teenager living an ordinary life. Until someone hid a secret in my mind without my knowledge. And the people who weren’t supposed to, found out…

Today, I am the best assassin the supernatural world has ever seen.

In a world where people turn into animals at will and others levitate things with their minds, it sucks to not have any magic in your veins. But I didn’t need magic to be a fighter. I didn’t need to float shit on air to learn how to use a dagger. I did the best I could with what I had, and I’m damn good at it, too.

When I finally made it inside the lair of the Red Rebels themselves—supernaturals I fought against every single day—the white lies that knitted my reality for so long began to untie.

My whole world is about to fall apart all over again, and I’m as ready for it as I was the first time…

The Prison Guard's Son by Trace Conger (Black Mill Books)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by TraceConger (author): This is an e-book giveaway for THE PRISON GUARD'S SON, the third novel in the award-winning Mr. Finn crime/thriller series. Haven't read the first two books in the series? You should remedy that as soon as possible, but this one reads as a standalone as well, so it's okay to read it out of order.

If you like Jack Reacher, Hap and Leonard, or anything Elmore Leonard, you should give it a shot.

Now, for the fine print. LibraryThing recommends I address the following three points in this description:

Who I am: The author
Where I got this book: From my noggin
Why I'm giving it away: Because I like to give things away

Description: SEARCH FOR MONSTERS LONG ENOUGH AND YOU MIGHT BECOME ONE

Thirty years ago Jacob Vance and Raymond Turner committed a gruesome crime that shocked a small West Virginia town. Only nine years old themselves, they kidnapped and murdered four-year-old Josh Baker.

The two boys were quickly arrested, tried and convicted, but were released after serving only eight years in a juvenile detention facility. Because of the heinousness of their crime and the town's thirst for retribution, the government gave Vance and Turner new identities and relocated them to parts unknown.

Now, the victim's father has hired Finn Harding to find his son's killers so he can levy the justice that was denied so long ago. Along the way, Finn clashes with a tenacious US Marshal determined to protect the killers' new identities and crosses paths with an infamous triggerman hired to do what the courts didn't.

What begins as a typical job for Finn quickly spirals into a moral struggle between revenge and forgiveness as he learns details about the lives Vance and Turner have been living.

As he fights with his conscience, Finn learns that monsters truly exist, you can't hide from your past, and some cases should stay buried.

Description: Trailer: http://youtu.be/2VfYxsHNlhc

This is the story of a lonely kid who develops a computer game, using what little of quantum physics that he has read, that renders game levels from maps of any format; the result is just a little too realistic. When he tries to combine this "World of Shawn" with a favorite game of his childhood, "World of One," he soon finds Worlds colliding, to the detriment of his friends. Shawn must step up and rectify things, rescue the princess and save the World.

The interaction and constant dialogue between the characters in this story, as well as the humor and action intertwined, have drawn comparison to that in such works as "The Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter," and "Narnia," so if a reader has an interest in any of those, as well as an interest in computer programming or video games, either in the past or the present, it would be a safe bet that they would enjoy getting to know Shawn and his World!

London Road: Linked Stories by Tessa Smith McGovern (eChook Digital)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by TessaSmithMcGovern: GOLD MEDAL WINNER 2012 eLIT AWARDS, AMAZON BEST-SELLER

On the morning of her release from prison, the hottest day on record in England, Janice Bailey makes her way to a boarding house in London, and discovers a bizarre new world.

This moving collection of linked short stories begins with 'When Janice Bailey Walked', an award-winning story first published in the Connecticut Review, and continues with six more stories that take place on a single day, as told by the eccentric residents of Number 17, London Road, thus illuminating a little-known side of the most beautiful city in Europe.

Praise for LONDON ROAD: LINKED STORIES:

"...reminiscent of the writer who appears in one of the stories: the great Katherine Mansfield."

Cynthia Rogerson, winner, V.S. Pritchett Memorial Prize for a Short Story, 2008, UK

KIRKUS REVIEWS: In seven short stories, residents of a London boardinghouse reach moments of clarity. On London Road, lined with scruffy shops, stands No. 17, a detached red-brick Victorian that's been turned into a boardinghouse. Its residents tend toward hard luck and desperation: Janice is just out of prison; Mandy is on probation; Bitty has a good education, but is scarred by her mother's frequent abandonments; and Isobel is mentally unstable. Nora, the landlady, writes romance novels but has experienced little romance herself, and her daughter, Anna, is disgusted by Isobel's outbursts.
Their interconnected stories take place on a day of unusually hot weather, and focus on one resident at a time, with Janice's story told in two parts. In each, characters have a chance to make a leap of faith in other people, or in the future. In "The Walls of Buckingham Palace," for example, Nora--who adores the queen--reflects on an uneasy encounter with Len, her local pub's new landlord, who drank too much and frightened her off: "But every night since, her sleep had been disturbed by longings she thought had long since been vanquished." It takes queenlike courage for her to return to the pub, where she finds that Len is apologetic, sincere, and kind. Pointing to a framed photograph of the queen, he remarks, "You remind me of her, you do"; nothing, of course, could better gain her trust and win her over.
Though spare and fast-paced, McGovern's (Cocktails for Book Lovers, 2014, etc.) tales evoke entire biographies. She focuses on illuminative details and subtle, turning-point moments, as when Mandy, a young woman on probation, reacts to her mandatory book group's reading of Katherine Mansfield's 1922 short story "The Garden Party." It stokes her resentment, as she doesn't even know if people still give garden parties. Mandy makes plans to shoplift again, but something about the book group leader's hopefulness and the invitation to give her honest opinion sparks her determination to win--maybe a literary argument, or maybe more chocolate wafers. Tales with subtle, positive but never saccharine transformations that feel fully earned."

Butterfly Serenade by Julianna Douglas (Sweetly Sensual Romance)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by mom2lnb (author): Butterfly Serenade is an emotional New Adult Contemporary romance, the first book in the new O'Malley Brothers series.

I'm the author of this book, looking to connect with new readers and hopefully get some reviews. This ebook can be provided in MOBI, EPUB, or PDF formats. In exchange for a copy of Butterfly Serenade, I'd be incredibly appreciative of a review, particularly on Amazon and/or GoodReads, but LibraryThing or any other book retailers would be great too.

Description: Rose
Whore. Slut. Tramp.

I don’t want to believe the words, but they’re true. Having sex with strangers temporarily affords me the necessary control to quiet the demons from my nightmares. But each unfulfilling encounter leaves me more emotionally empty than before. I’m trapped in a dead, brown shell, unable to break free.

Until the day he walks into my life.

Colin is everything that's good and pure–a beacon of light to my dark, lost soul. His music is a soothing balm, warming long-frozen places inside me. His kindness disarms me, making me long for more. But to have more, I’d need to reveal the horrors of my past.

And I can’t tell anyone. It’ll tear me apart.

Colin
I’ve been waiting for her all my life.

From the moment I laid eyes her, I knew Rose was my soul mate. I’m drawn to her inner beauty and yearn to show her the love she’s never known. The pain reflected in her lovely amber eyes rouses emotions deep within me, stirring the music in my soul and making my fingers take flight over the keyboard.

But Rose is a woman holding closely guarded secrets.

More than my next breath, I want to quell the haunted look in her eyes ... heal her broken spirit and make her whole again. She doesn't believe that's possible. But I won't give up.

Not until she lets me love her–all of her.

Description: Memories are tricky. What if the memory is of something that happened more than ninety years ago? When does a memory that won't leave you alone become a haunting? Who is the tearfully pleading child whose voice she hears time and time again? The young volunteer on a reminiscence project is slowly drawn into the ever changing and uncertain world of the woman he visits. At first he is fascinated by the quirky and quixotic view of the previous century seen through the eyes of this former journalist. He struggles with her bewildering preoccupation with ideas of consciousness and self and the role that memory might play. He has to work hard to keep up with the peppering of episodes that have abandoned any sense of linearity in time in the lottery of her lucidity. Slowly her concern with what she thought she saw becomes his obsession, gradually submerging him in her world till neither of them is any longer sure if he is from her past or present, is a fiction or an aspect of a psychosis.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by VSKemanis (publisher): Fans of literary short stories in the category of psychological suspense will enjoy this new collection, Love and Crime: Stories, to be released May 1. Several of these eleven stories were originally published in magazines and journals, including Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, The William & Mary Review, and Lynx Eye, and my previous fiction collections have all received or been nominated for literary awards. If you prefer novel-length works, this book is not for you. The stories are diverse and unrelated to each other. Winners of these advance review e-book copies: please read and review! I appreciate your honest comments posted on Amazon, LibraryThing, and Goodreads. Thank you for your interest. --V.

Description: Loves big and small, crimes forgiven or avenged. These are the themes that drive the eleven diverse stories in this new collection of psychological suspense from storyteller V.S. Kemanis.

Meet the husband and wife team Rosemary and Reuben, master chefs known to sprinkle a dash of magic into every dish. Lucille Steadman, a dazed retiree who can’t explain why she’s left her husband, only to discover, too late, the meaning of love and commitment in the most surprising place. Franklin DeWitt, an esteemed ballet critic who witnesses—or abets?—a bizarre criminal plot to topple a beautiful Soviet ballerina. Rosalyn Bleinstorter, a washed-up defense attorney whose stubborn belief in her own street savvy leads her unwittingly into a romantic and criminal association with an underworld figure.

These are just a few of the colorful characters you’ll get to know in these pages, where all is fair in love and crime. While the endings to these tales are not always sweet or predictable, and self-deception is rarely rewarded, the lessons come down hard and are well learned.

Get through the year celebrating (Passover, Pentecost, and Day of Atonement) and be the epistle, the Herald News unto all, that God is a God of His Word (Numbers 23:19). Nothing is more refreshing than tasting liberty at its finest, freedom like never before, and in actuality "A Miracle". After experiencing such a miracle, it shall birth a hunger for greater intimacy, relationship/fellowship with the Lord. The precious Holy Spirit will draw you to closer walk with Jesus. There has been enough devastation throughout the world, enough tragedy. Celebrate God and He'll celebrate you. Remember, precious Spirit of God goes where He is celebrated, not tolerated. Hebrews 11:28 By faith Moses kept the Passover and the sprinkling of blood, lest he who destroyed the firstborn should touch them.

Description: In 1983, Charlie Benson is ripped from between the sheets of her luxurious bed and plunged into a frenzied chain of life and death events where terrifying visions of another time and a dangerous entanglement turn her life upside down Almost twenty years before, Fiona Benson is being flown towards an incredible sunset over Lake Nakuru in Kenya when her plane is sprayed with bullets.... It's 1792. The drums roll, the conductor taps the lecture with his baton and the orchestra begins to play. Angelo D'Aria's body quivers with passion as he screws the tip of his toe shoe into the wooden boards, crosses himself and springs from behind the curtain. A captivating tale of how two restless souls from Venice in 1792, and two forbidden lovers in terror torn London in 1983 are bound by the blood-stained satin ribbons of a toe shoe and a deadly pledge.

Anchises Smith by Leo Salter

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by leosalter (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

I hope you enjoy this book and post a review on Amazon.

Description: Anchises Smith is an Sis operative in Palestine (1946; Zionism, opium, gun-running), Malaya (1947; removing Japanese gold from Soviet North Korea), Persia (1948; assassinating communist agents), Korea (1951; recovering a MiG-15) and Indochina (1952; heroin smuggling). Her hair lies black on the shoulders of her dress and she has a white water lily in her hair. And him, her partner, what to make of him? Not, Egyptian, not even close, louche yes, with a slight bulge in his jacket where something weighty lies. His eyes are everywhere but heavy, always coming back to rest on the girl opposite him, the girl who has the scoop neckline of her dress half unbuttoned, half-opened. His eyes are as dark as her hair and his face is thin, a young man with a thin face and ideally proportioned limbs, created for bed one might say. Looking at him, watching him, the spectator thinks, here is a man who makes his own history.

The Lost Thorn by Joshua P. Aguayo (Full Runa Transmedia Studio)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by JoshuaAguayo (author): Hello!

I'm Josh, author of The Lost Thorn, whole I continue to work on the sequel for this book, I decided to do another giveaway since there were a few who were left out from the last one due to the number of copies available.

I hope you enjoy the read, and if you do, a review would be much appreciated!

Best regards!

Description: The Lost Thorn is a science fiction novel with a strong and unstable female protagonist that fuses the ideas of cyberpunk with dashes of urban fantasy. It's a heart pounding adventure told from the perspective of a highly chaotic girl who has lost everything she held dear, leaving her with nothing but a powerful drug as a means to cope with the inescapable pain.

The novel is a grim, depressing, social critique that often becomes a foil for the protagonist, whose voice we hear guiding us through her story. She is spunky, easygoing, careless, and terrible at making puns. This is an adventure of contrasts from beginning to end, one that will leave you hanging and asking for more!

Description: Detective Sergeant Jim Broadbent was having a bad day with everything going wrong. Then to cap his day off the phone rang just as he was going home. He was directed to a local shopping parade where the body of a badly beaten man had been discovered in a commercial waste bin.

So another investigation began, but a wall of silence was evident as he was falsely led from one scenario to another. The body was unidentified as no one had reported him missing. No clues and nothing to pin point where he was from.

Then a missing person enquiry landed on his desk as the incident room on the murder was closing without a satisfactory result. Broadbent discovered he was crossing another MI5 investigation. But the secrecy of the Secret Services was hindering him, then he was told to back off.

Broadbent was being used again by MI5 as the deputy head was mole hunting with the assistance of the CIA.

That was not the way Broadbent worked so he carried on. What he found was extremely disturbing; then he discovered Tanya who was seeking retribution on many who had crossed her. She was devious using her looks and body to lure those into her lair. Who was she really?

This is a fast moving intriguing read with twists and turns; it is provocative with adult sexual encounters. It also sets the mind thinking, is it true or could it be true?
