Description: Trailer: http://youtu.be/2VfYxsHNlhc

This is the story of a lonely kid who develops a computer game, using what little of quantum physics that he has read, that renders game levels from maps of any format; the result is just a little too realistic. When he tries to combine this "World of Shawn" with a favorite game of his childhood, "World of One," he soon finds Worlds colliding, to the detriment of his friends. Shawn must step up and rectify things, rescue the princess and save the World.

The interaction and constant dialogue between the characters in this story, as well as the humor and action intertwined, have drawn comparison to that in such works as "The Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter," and "Narnia," so if a reader has an interest in any of those, as well as an interest in computer programming or video games, either in the past or the present, it would be a safe bet that they would enjoy getting to know Shawn and his World!

Doctor Gillespie's Discovery by J. R. Duke (Smashwords)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by JRDuke (author): I'm giving away copies of my book Doctor Gillespie's Discovery and in return would appreciate honest reviews if you win one. Winners will receive a copy in the file of their choice (available files: mobi, epub, and PDF). Please leave reviews on Amazon (preferred), Barnes & Nobel, Goodreads, or LibraryThing. I can only hope that you enjoy reading my book as much as I enjoyed writing it. I call it tongue-in-cheek science fiction (a genre I may have invented!), but it has a serious timely message. It was my attempt at sending the pendulum of conventional 'wisdom' in the opposite direction which I felt was long overdue. I welcome any and all comments or feedback. Thank you for your interest! J. R.

Description: Research scientist Doctor Gillespie has made one of the most momentous discoveries about our existence: that there is a biological basis for sexual orientation, a longtime controversial theory proven by the doctor to be factual, which means we actually are born to be the way we are.

Doctor Gillespie's discovery could very well remain a secret from the world known only by a fearful few who have found out about it before being publicized and intend to silence the doctor by whatever means necessary including assassination.

The unacknowledged leader of this criminal opposition to the discovered truth is perhaps the biggest homophobe in the world, a prominent conservative religious-political activist holding the public's ear captive with a round-the-clock televangelism talk show who uses his media empire to manipulate his massive audience into sharing his beliefs.

Is he powerful enough to undermine the truth about who we really are?

"Doctor Gillespie's Discovery is not just a must read but it's a have to read. This book was so hard to put down. It's a book that will keep you on your toes and will definitely keep your curiosity peaked. It's a wild ride!" Amazon 5-Star Review

Stephen, always up for an adventure, wholeheartedly embraces the idea, while his skeptical sister Cathy is just along for the ride. Fall Far from the Tree by Amy McNulty (Patchwork Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by AmyMcNulty (author): Get a mobi, epub or PDF copy of my dark YA fantasy book, Fall Far from the Tree. Please leave a review on Goodreads and Amazon in exchange for receiving a copy.

Description: Terror. Callousness. Denial. Rebellion. How the four teenage children of leaders in the duchy and the neighboring empire of Hanaobi choose to adapt to their nefarious parents’ whims is a matter of survival.

Rohesia, daughter of the duke, spends her days hunting "outsiders," fugitives who’ve snuck onto her father’s island duchy. That she lives when even children who resemble her are subject to death hardens her heart to tackle the task.

Fastello is the son of the "king" of the raiders who steal from the rich and share with the poor. When aristocrats die in the raids, Fastello questions what his peoples’ increasingly wicked methods of survival have cost them.

An orphan raised by a convent of mothers, Cateline can think of no higher aim in life than to serve her religion, even if it means turning a blind eye to the suffering of other orphans under the mothers’ care.

Kojiro, new heir to the Hanaobi empire, must avenge his people against the "barbarians" who live in the duchy, terrified the empress, his own mother, might rather see him die than succeed.

When the paths of these four young adults cross, they must rely on one another for survival—but the love of even a malevolent guardian is hard to leave behind.

California in the '90s. On the Central Coast, middle schoolers Sam Ackerman and Tara Remedios meet for the first time. But at the same time, he isn’t. He eats and breathes, walks and talks, but to the rest of the world he might as well not even exist. He’s forgotten as soon as he’s out of sight.
A former cop, Robert’s arrogant ways led to him being possessed and then destroyed by an ancient evil, a demon that preys on man’s deepest desires. Now that same demon has led him to its latest victim, the first person capable of remembering Robert since his death.
Caleb Miller has made some monumentally stupid decisions, all before the age of twenty-three. He dropped out of college, is stuck in an affair with a married man, and struggles to make ends meet as a folk singer at the same coffee shop he slings drinks at all day.
When a handsome stranger shows up and claims Caleb’s been possessed by a strange sex demon, he’s obviously skeptical. But Robert turns out to be the man of his dreams, and Caleb can’t believe his luck. Too bad Robert has vowed never to touch him.
Forced to live together while battling their intense attraction, they must find a way to stop the demon before it’s too late to save Caleb’s life and his memory of Robert.

"A skillful tale that explores relationship nuances and redemption." -- Kirkus Reviews

"A gem of a novel, providing a deep and satisfying journey with flesh-and-blood characters, excellent writing that occasionally soars to memorable heights, and a fearless exploration of the complexity of falling in love with a person who, while irresistible and reciprocal, is also attached to a dear friend who deserves loyalty. Highly recommended!" -- The Columbia Review

"A deftly crafted, multi-layered, compelling read from beginning to end, Remembrance of Blue Roses establishes novelist Yorker Keith as an extraordinarily gifted storyteller." -- Midwest Book Review

Description: Remembrance of Blue Roses follows a man and a married couple in New York City, whose intricate relationship oscillates among friendship, love, love-triangle, and even obsession. Its romantic ambience is interwoven with classical music, opera, art, family legend, and international affairs, illuminating the lives of international civil servants at the United Nations and the UN peacekeeping mission in Sarajevo, and those with direct experience of the Israel-Palestinian conflict and the Holocaust.

Mark, the narrator and an American, works for the United Nations in New York as a personnel officer; his friend, Hans, German, also works for the UN as an economist; and Yukari, Japanese and Hans’s wife, is a professional violinist. One day Mark encounters Hans and Yukari in a museum. As Hans enjoys opera singing and Mark is into painting, the three foster their friendship through classical music, opera, and art. Mark resists feeling drawn to his friend’s wife. One evening over dinner, they discover that their families were acquainted generations ago. This bonds them together. During the summer, inspired by the beauty of Yukari in her light blue dress at the UN garden, Hans and Mark secretly plant blue roses there for Yukari. The blue roses later blossom sumptuously. The three enjoy their blue roses, the symbol of their friendship and bond.

The story becomes complicated by the involvement of two other women: Mark’s ex-wife, Francine, a Swiss, who is remarried to another of Mark’s friends in the UN, Shem Tov, an Israeli; and Mark’s high school sweetheart, Jane, to whom he was briefly engaged. Francine encourages Mark to be happy with Yukari, while Jane now wants to marry Mark. Yukari becomes pregnant with Hans’s child and happily settles into her role as expectant mother. Mark, Hans, and Yukari celebrate New Year’s Eve at the height of their friendship and happiness.

Then a series of tragedies shatters their joy and alters their future forever.

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by jkochanoff (author): Appreciate any feedback (good or bad) as I am writing the 2nd novel in series and would like to incorporate your suggestions. My email is j_kochanoff@hotmail.com

Always welcome reviews on Amazon (especially if you liked it). Whatever your input is, appreciate your interest and for taking the time to read the novel.

Description: Imagine a city with cameras on every corner, monitoring your every move. A world where no crime goes unpunished, no criminal can escape. No place you can hide.

I live in the safest city in the world . . . until I tried to leave it.

The story follows a young girl who witnesses an event that shakes her belief in the justice system. She resents the drones that keep her city safe and enlists a friend's aid to escape her city. Unfortunately, she learns that she doesn't stand a chance against the drone technology and fails any attempt to escape. It isn't until she receives some surprising help, that she finds the blind spot to escape their watchful eye. However, what she finds outside the city is not what she expected.

The novel “Drone World” is set in a futuristic dystopian city like the books of Divergent or Maze Runner. The book’s content is similar to the movies ‘Minority Report’ (predicting crime) meets ‘Logan’s Run’ (authority determines when you die).

This book is topical – it looks at a city where drone technology is common place. Today drones are part of our lives from the military to enforcement to entertainment. Not just outside our windows – everywhere we live, eat, shop and the many forms they take.

How to Raise a Good Kid by Starbuck O'Dwyer (Green Chair Publishing)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Offered by StarbuckODwyer (author): A smashwords coupon for How to Raise a Good Kid will be delivered to all winners promptly. Reviews on Goodreads, Amazon and Library Thing or the platform(s) of your choice are much appreciated. Please like my facebook page and follow me on Goodreads and Twitter for updates on new stories and books. Thank you very much.

Description: Named a 2012 Indie Reader Discovery Awards finalist (parenting) and a 2011 ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year finalist (both humor and essay categories), How to Raise a Good Kid is not a conventional "how-to" but rather a collection of 23 humorous and heartfelt stories about the challenges and joys of growing up for both parents and children. By way of background, Good Kid is the first in a series of two books with its sequel, High School Dance, having just been released. The origin of the two books is as follows:

How to Raise a Good Kid and High School Dance are the culmination of a project that began shortly after my wife and I welcomed our son to the world. Like most first-time fathers, I felt a new and profound sense of responsibility and immediately became determined to pass along every lesson I believed was important. So even though my pride and joy was only drooling, pooping and sleeping at this point, and was years away from absorbing his dad’s hard-earned wisdom, I refused to let any of those pesky details get in my way.

First, I made a list of the events of my childhood that taught me the most, the ones that made the biggest impressions, both good and bad. This exercise forced me to revisit many harrowing experiences such as batting zero in little league baseball, my chronic addiction to a blanket, my disastrously unsuccessful try-out for the role of Winthrop in The Music Man, and the time I mooned the entire sixth grade. I wanted to let my son know whatever hardship he might face; his father had already been there, learned something of value and survived. I also wanted to let him know about all the fun and joy I experienced as a child and the love my parents showed me.

After compiling my list, however, I realized it wasn’t going to be enough. What if, God forbid, I wasn’t around to tell him the full story behind each enumerated item? I couldn’t bear the thought so I decided to turn the list into a book of stories about my childhood. Over time, the project evolved into two books: one about my grade school years, How to Raise a Good Kid, and one about my junior and senior high school years, High School Dance.

Few times in life are more memorable than our school years. Humiliation, heartbreak and failure are abundant, and that’s on a good day. No matter who you are, coming of age is exciting, confusing and sometimes downright dangerous, and I’ve tried to capture both the agony and the ecstasy. My wife and I were fortunate enough to add a daughter to our family in the intervening years and my great hope is that she and her brother will someday read these stories, learn a few lessons, come to know their father even better, and above all, remember how much I love them.

DEATH is NOT the END! by Eugene W Carmichael

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by eugenew (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

I hope you enjoy this book and post a review on Amazon.

Description: "You only have one life to live, so live it well!" How often have we heard that said? Most people have taken that as a given and have not questioned the statement, but others, going back to the dawn of man have always felt that there was a new life following the death and abandonment of our body .Our body serves as our vehicle for moving around, but it is felt that our core selves, being our soul, our spirit, our talent, our intelligence and accumulated knowledge; our very personality, in other words our Dna is all recyclable. They say that all of these things are energy and it appears that Mother Nature has deemed these to be part of The Great Recycling Programme. This is a deliberately short book because most people really don't want to even think of death. I don't want to drown you in a much more in-depth work, but rather I have collected sufficient evidence to persuade us that we are living eternal lives, one stage at a time.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by richardellis (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

I hope you enjoy this book and post a review on Amazon.

Description: This entertaining account of one man's journey through an extraordinary existence is compulsive reading. Focusing on the most memorable events spanning 50 years, these anecdotes are fascinating, funny, sad, thoughtful, and thrilling, and written with an honesty which is immensely appealing. They depict a life that began conventionally enough with school and a Medical training, but that branched out into all sorts of unexpected byways. The intelligence that can be sensed in this account is that of a person who was never going to settle for a conventional existence and who grabbed life with both hands in a desire to experience as much as possible. Even in times of sadness or setback, this writer finds resilience and has a wonderful gratitude for life. The author has a storytelling gift that cannot be learned, which lifts this autobiography above others as it requires no personal knowledge of the man or of the places and people he has written about in order to be thoroughly enjoyed.

Description: Big Sam scoffed at the concept of “the West Ham way”. He called the fans deluded. Along came Super Slaven Bilic to show everyone what it was. In Goodbye Upton Park, Hello Stratford, Richard Bennett charts the progress of the team game by game in the build-up and throughout the last remarkable season. Every match is covered as the author also reminisces about great games he has watched in the last 58 years, his favourite players and managers, the triumphs and disappointments. He adds his views on the controversial stadium move, match officials, video technology, media pundits, and other topical discussion points in the best Premier League competition in years. An excellent cup run, Premier League club records broken, no trophies, but the consolation of another European campaign in the first season at the new home. With the most attractive football seen in years the West Ham way was back.

Description: There are some for whom drive and ambition are incongruous… the trappings of a comfortable life by all means, but not at the expense of a hard day’s toil. Why bother putting shoulder to the wheel when life’s gentler souls often provided easier routes to self-fulfilment? For such slothful pariahs the notion of reflection is something to be avoided – why look in that emotive rear-view mirror knowing that the track is littered with the debris and detritus of so many ruined lives? To be impervious to the suffering of others can be helpful. Alternatively the spiteful, selfish schemer can always tell himself his own version of events with such regularity that in time he begins to accept his own yarns as a true image of the carnage he had so often wrought.
But he who dares not look back will never see the movement over his shoulder. He will never know again the previous victim who has relentlessly hunted him down to wreak vengeance.

Description: Driving Me Wild Jacket Copy

In a dating scene full of well-educated, ambitious and attractive players, is the "terminally single" woman her own worst enemy?

That's the accusation hurled at Aimee Chase, a young Chicago sports marketing executive who finds herself confronted with professions of love from Michael Blake, a handsome but bland high school classmate. When Aimee tries but fails to let him down easy, habitually nice Michael hits below the belt, implying she's too damaged to appreciate a good man. Check, please: An insulted Aimee showers Michael in her glass of sweet-but-smoky Merlot.

Truth is, Michael's accusations drew blood. With a romantic history littered with cheaters and bad boys–including a married one with a very big job who is still in her life–Aimee fears that she has sabotaged her chances of ever finding the right guy. Months later, as her career implodes and she finds herself enveloped in a high-profile scandal, she's not sure what to think when a suddenly captivating Michael reappears.

Thrilled to find that this "safe" guy now makes her weak in the knees, Aimee ultimately has her ecstasy interrupted by the revelation that Michael has transformed into a promiscuous, cold-hearted pick-up artist he thinks women like Aimee want. When he's caught with related baggage but declares his fidelity, should Aimee toss aside a promising relationship, or just accept that "it's complicated?"

Four months after the life-altering incident, all seems well, until an unforeseen figure reenters her life. Then she discovers that those memories weren't ever locked up. They had only been waiting for the right moment to take her down — beneath rock bottom.

Or so she keeps telling herself.

Offered by JeffMinerd (author): I'm giving away 10 promotional electronic copies of The Sailweaver's Son to interested readers. You can choose from MOBI, EPUB, and PDF formats. I will send the copies by email. Reviews would be most welcome. Happy reading!

Description: The Sailweaver’s Son combines traditional fantasy with a dash of steampunk and takes young readers to a unique world—Etherium. A world where mountains rise like islands above a sea of clouds and adventurers travel the sky in sail-driven airships.

When fifteen-year-old Tak rescues the survivor of an airship destroyed by one of the giant flammable gas bubbles mysteriously appearing in the sky of Etherium, the authorities react like a flock of startled grekks.

Admiral Scud accuses Tak of sabotage and treason. Tak’s father grounds him for reckless airmanship. Rumors spread that the bubbles are weapons devised by the Gublins, a race of loathsome but ingenious underground creatures. The King’s advisors call for war, hoping to win much-needed Gublin coal.

To prove his innocence, solve the mystery, and prevent a misguided war, Tak must do what anyone knows is suicide—visit the Gublins and find out what they’re up to. When the wizard’s adopted daughter, an oddly beautiful and irksomely intelligent girl from the Eastern kingdoms, asks Tak to help her do just that, he can’t say no.

The adventure will take Tak from the deepest underground caves to a desperate battle on Etherium’s highest mountaintop. It will force him to face his worst fears, and to grow up faster than he expected.

Tacking on the Styx: an Epileptic Sails the Facts, Fiction, and Philosophy of a Mental Illness by Jeffrey L. Hatcher (Author House)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Jeffrey_Hatcher (author): This is an ebook with both factual and fictional chapters. I hope people requesting it have a keen professional interest in the practice of psychology, know someone with such an interest, and/or are close to someone with epilepsy.

Description: This book discusses epilepsy as a chronic mental ailment. Its main thesis is that the medical community's reticence to label it as such has hindered sufferers from getting the optimal care. I wrote it with three audiences in mind: 1) advanced college students, especially premeds destined for psychiatry; 2) adult family members of victims; and 3) adult victims.

The book actually is both fact and fiction. I describe the disease in detail and review the medical journals to offer the lay reader details that physicians tend to gloss over. Topics include the effects of surgery on emotional states, sexuality, stigmatization, how the disease can be categorized in anatomical terms, and how different 'versions' of the disease affect the experiences differently for different people.

As one who has the disease, I discuss the concepts of cognitive modeling of memory, relate these concepts to mathematics and artwork, and describe the experience of seizures in their context.

Finally, I nest these factual text-book style descriptions and essays into a fictional novella. The story focuses on how seizures and memory impairment poses special professional problems that need reasonable accommodation for a young man. He repeatedly faces problems that a psychiatrist could help to address, but he never fully resolves these problems.

Much of the book is a view of the dirty underside of the disease. It is not meant to be uplifting. It is not appropriate for very young readers. I wrote both fact and fiction to be hard hitting. I particularly hope college - age readers will find inspiration in it to take a professional interest in epileptology.
