Description: “This book was written by a very ingenious and techno savvy author … David Baldacci and Vince Flynn have competition.” Amazon reviewer

“This is an extraordinary action tale that spans the country from coast to coast. It is non-stop action replete with some pretty neat techno-gadgets. I marvel about the author’s ability to come up with so many adventures that flow seamlessly together. The characters, and their different impact on the story are a major high point in the success of the book.” Amazon reviewer.

"As someone that loves cars and machines, I particularly loved this line from the book 'A Kenworth is a thing of beauty, an audacious chrome juggernaut that hums like a B-52. With a control center like a 747', its so good, Theo Cage has a wonderful descriptive way with words ensuring that you can easily picture it in your mind. Books like this excite me so much, I couldn't wait to read the next page! Absolutely a 5 star book!" Sophie David, Goodreads

GENRE: Thriller in the style of Lee Childs, some violence and tough language.

Sergeant Major John Brown, a hard charging paratrooper, is about as political as a potato. He’s the last man anyone imagined inciting a revolution…

Young Sophie Kampbell, a social justice crusader, despises violence in every form. On the other hand, when tragedy shoves her into the arms of the mysterious “Freedom Brigade” militias, she finds that a rifle delivers a lot more permanent social justice than any picket sign…

Keep low, stay alert, and just maybe you'll survive a tour of duty in Operation: Enduring Unity.

About the Author

Marko Petkovic is a best-selling author, publisher and founder of Feelgoodrituals.com, dedicated to helping people achieve healthy, fulfilling relationships, personal success and abundance.

He believes that successful relationships are acts of doing, not having, and can therefore be learned.

Married for more than fifteen years to a beautiful woman who has a successful career of her own, Marko writes for modern women and men of the twenty-first century who struggle balancing their professional work with home and raising kids while trying to be good partners to their life mates.

A few years ago, Marko and his wife almost lost hope. Thankfully they scraped and dug their way out without any professional counseling. They found a way to crumble those walls between them and rediscover that connection they once had (and still have) and their marriage is now something they hold precious, and protect.

Inspired by their success, Marko wrote an Amazon Best-Seller Feel Good Marriage and the 47 Little Love Boosters For A Happy Marriage.

Marko believes seemingly overwhelming problems can and should be broken down into simple, actionable steps that anyone can start implementing immediately. In that spirit, he strives for all of his work to be practical and down-to-earth, teaching only things that work and pass the test of common sense.

Marko is also the father of two boys. He would like to consider himself to be a kickass husband and father, but he still screws up every now and then. When this happens, he says to himself, “Tomorrow, I’ll do better,” and sees those everyday challenges as inspiration for his own work. He starts his day early and believes that hope is not a plan.

Description: Trailer: http://youtu.be/2VfYxsHNlhc

This is the story of a lonely kid who develops a computer game, using what little of quantum physics that he has read, that renders game levels from maps of any format; the result is just a little too realistic. When he tries to combine this "World of Shawn" with a favorite game of his childhood, "World of One," he soon finds Worlds colliding, to the detriment of his friends. Shawn must step up and rectify things, rescue the princess and save the World.

The interaction and constant dialogue between the characters in this story, as well as the humor and action intertwined, have drawn comparison to that in such works as "The Lord of the Rings," "Harry Potter," and "Narnia," so if a reader has an interest in any of those, as well as an interest in computer programming or video games, either in the past or the present, it would be a safe bet that they would enjoy getting to know Shawn and his World!

"A brilliant and complex literary thriller ...”
Michael Gardiner, Penn Book Review

"A rich, entertaining read ... a book that readers will not easily put down."
Lisa Brown-Gilbert, Hollywood Book Reviews
(from the 5-Star Review)

"A startlingly well-written, fast-paced and exciting novel with a heightened emotional tension and a poetic, noir-like prose that lends the book an ambitious, propulsive pace — not to mention a plot twist that lingers even after the final denouement has played out."
(from the 5-Star BlueInk Review)

MORE DESCRIPTION:
"In this wildly complex and tautly composed thriller set in Southeast Asia, author Doug Greenall marries the ferocious beating heart of Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness ... to the exotic plunge into madness found in the 1990's cult classic The Beach by Alex Garland."

"Readers will find that they are both entertained and intrigued by the author's shining example of literary brilliance. This book follows the intertwined lives of the two primary characters Dr. Devon Clarke and "Magic" Magnus Larsen as they each embark on a life-altering journey that embodies spirituality, redemption, rebirth, love, and the dark side of the human psyche."

My Psychic War with Uncle Sam by E. Alexander Scianna (Harmonious Circle Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by alecazandre (publisher): E-book edition (.epub or .mobi) of our timely underground literary fiction novel My Psychic War with Uncle Sam.

We’d appreciate your sincere LT book-review, and if possible on Barnes & Noble (http://goo.gl/x1CnT) or Amazon (http://goo.gl/Z2rKw).

Regards,
Harmonious Circle Press
http://theharmoniouscirclepress.net

Description: An intellectual coming of age, My Psychic War with Uncle Sam swings from life on the military base with G.I. Joes in starched fatigues to the streets of Seattle where Dennis and Marcel encounter the hippie culture seeking nirvana on hallucinogenic drugs. The reader is taken on an exhilarating romp through western thought and history as the ideological struggles that permeated the 60’s generation are juxtaposed with the uncertainties of modern day life. With heavy doses of mysticism, drama, and humor—just to keep things interesting—the authors ask, “Who is Uncle Sam?”

Dennis DeLuccio invites the reader into his underground garden to rethink politics, war, sex, drugs, philosophy, religion, the occult, the origin of the hippie movement, and the meaning of a psychic war. Dennis drifts back to 1968 and his first assignment at Fort Lewis, Washington. He remembers Marcel Dreyfus, a young soldier who has just returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam. The many GI’s who say they don’t believe in the war, yet stand at attention, fall silent and follow orders even as they are shipped out to Nam, mystified Dennis. Marcel however cuts through the illusions of the so-called patriots with wit and rhetoric.

Packed with documented facts of U.S. foreign policy, paraphrased from the works of Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Bertrand Russell and others, as well as broadcast news reports of the period, My Psychic War with Uncle Sam infuses social comment with lived experience. Like Joseph Heller’s Catch-22, it fashions the account of a young army recruit living stateside through the Vietnam era into an eloquent and deeply funny plea against butchery in the service of authority. My Psychic War with Uncle Sam weaves historical fact and dramatic fiction into an essential storybook of our times that is both entertaining and enlightening.

“What a surprise! This is an exuberant romp through history, politics, and philosophy, through the eyes of a modern Alice in Wonderland. Escaping down a hole in his living room floor, Dennis seeks refuge from the horrors of 9-11 in his secret garden only to confront madness and paranoia, as he tends his garden and searches for an understanding of his experiences in the army during the Viet Nam era. The novel will keep you wondering what supposed masters of truth can be trusted to guide Dennis home in his psychic war with Uncle Sam?”
—Cynthia McKinney, U.S. Congresswoman and 2008 Green Party U.S. Presidential Nominee

“A dramatic account of one man’s psychic and political struggle against the cant and crimes of establishment institutions. Written with engaging candor and much human spirit.”
—Michael Parenti, author of Contrary Notions and God and His Demons

So far My Psychic War with Uncle Sam is earning mostly 5-star reviews on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, LibraryThing, and Goodreads. Here are some links relevant to the novel and its authors:

Back to Santa Fe by W.T. Durand (Smashwords)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Richard.Sutton (author): Book Available Free in any eBook format you choose: Use Coupon Code FN83Q at checkout.

I'm introducing my work under the pen name of W.T. Durand to Library Thing members only.

Description: How did Maggie really die? Sullivan Ortega has just returned to his empty childhood home in Santa Fe, to pay his respects to the last of his family, his sister Maggie, killed in a single-car crash. He’s driven to try to put his life back together, but he’s saddled with a terrible temper. He has few prospects or real friends, a taste for too much beer and not just a few run-ins with the local police. Most of the time, he just doesn’t feel comfortable in his own skin. While bringing his pain and anger under control, he finds a series of tormenting clues left on his doorstep. It seems Maggie’s death was no accident. Investigating the shattering details of her hidden sexuality and tangled connections in the world of fine art, antiques and the scramble for status, Sullivan struggles with long avoided questions. He uncovers things about his family that have been buried for many years. In a turn of luck, he also discovers allies he didn’t know he had.

It’s a hard journey, and it may not lead him to a peaceful conclusion, but it is one he’s prepared to endure alone if he has to. While so much is beyond his control, maybe the struggle and the lessons are there for a reason. Sometimes, we all need to search for home and acceptance. One of the hardest things about that search is learning to recognize it when you’ve arrived. Back to Santa Fe begins a new series of modern fiction in Western settings by Richard Sutton writing as W.T. Durand, to separate it from his existing body of work.

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by erecstebbins (author): This is the combined trilogy of the books READER, WRITER, and MAKER. I am an indie author and I'm trying to find an audience for the story, which has been well reviewed.

Description: "Literary fiction that transcends its genre. Read this novel. Immediately."
—Portland Book Review of WRITER

Speculative fiction with time travel, alien armageddon, metaphysical mysteries, action, adventure, cosmology, cybernetics, religion, and romance! READER, WRITER, AND MAKER: All three novels of the trilogy in one book.

READER: From the future, a final plea. Out of the past, a last hope.
Ambra Dawn, a young girl born to die in freakish disregard. A doomed world, enslaved to forces unseen. A final hope beyond imagining. Become a Reader, because in the end, the most unbelievable step in the adventure - will be your own.

WRITER: From hatred, Love. From many, One.
Book 2 in the Daughter of Time trilogy: A love story and sci-fi epic about the beautiful and terrible destiny of profoundly star-crossed lovers with a galaxy's fate in their hands.

MAKER: Until all is lost, nothing is found.
Conclude the epic story of Ambra Dawn in the final installment of the trilogy. A story in which the one that was lost will be found. Where a thief will guide through chaos and time. Where all that was held dear will perish. And in that final and utter destruction—there will be a Creation.

"Deeply thoughtful and exciting, warping the expectations of the genre... reminds me of Dan Simmons' Hyperion." —San Francisco Book Reviews, WRITER

"A gripping science-fiction epic that will propel readers toward wonder" —ForeWord Reviews, READER

"Unique and altogether profound, reminiscent of Bradbury, haunting, thought-provoking and surprisingly philosophical" -San Francisco Book Reviews, READER

"A richly detailed, compelling story about the power of love." —Kirkus Review of READER

"Another epic story" —Midwest Book Reviews, WRITER

"Erec Stebbins concludes his Daughter of Time trilogy with a novel that manages to outpace its predecessors in its capacity to induce awe. Maker is a continuously rewarding science fiction work in which many surprises reach cosmic proportions. Exploratory fiction at its most powerful and intelligent. These are works that nurture wonder and sometimes break hearts. A brilliant conclusion to a series that tests the elasticity of imagination, with consistently stunning results."—ForeWord Reviews, MAKER

True Stories by Richard Milton

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by RichardMilton (author): Hi There. My book True Stories will appeal to fans of psychological mystery thrillers and offbeat crime stories. I'm hoping that readers will enjoy the book enough to leave a short (or long!) review here on Library Thing and on Amazon.

This is a very unusual collection of short stories, covering a multitude of sins. The book is available as a .mobi file for Kindle, or as a .pdf for reading on a PC or laptop.

Description: My latest book, True Stories has just been published on Kindle. It's a short story collection with a difference because the stories are based on real life cases told to me by police friends and fellow journalists, fictionalised just enough to protect the innocent - and the guilty.

Some tell of crimes that have gone unpunished by the law. Some are crimes against laws that are unwritten. And some are crimes that exist only in the mind.

Getting away with murder is easy if you know how - even easier if you’re a high-flying City trader like Terry Hills and have the help of someone who has been Yakuza trained.

Most of us have wanted Peace and quiet at some time in our lives. Simon and Petra found the perfect spot in the country - but there was a reason it was so quiet.

Neville’s job was keeping the books for dodgy loan-shark Harold Hole. It was a humdrum existence until a mad idea took hold of Neville and wouldn’t let him go. It was the ink. The Red ink and green ink.

When you’ve nothing else to live for, all you want is A perfect day to die. Finding one isn’t always so easy. Especially when someone else has got the same idea.

Everyone has a big secret. Little Freddy Martin’s was bigger than most. He could make money appear out of thin air.

It’s always nice to have A reminder of home. Unless you’re a crook who is planning the biggest con of his life - and home is the last thing on your mind.

It’s the hardest question for every woman. What do you buy For the man who has everything? Especially one who is too wrapped up in his business even to notice. Barrister Isobel Lang found an answer that made a new man out of her husband, Alan.

Nothing ever happens in Nogales - it’s just a sleepy Mexican border town. As long as you keep your wits about you, that is.

When Eric Lowe is made redundant from Sharman Brothers after 20 years loyal service, the last thing he wants is to Spend more time with the family. Eric cooks up a plan to avoid admitting the awful truth to his wife - but it backfires in ways he could never have imagined.

Like all representatives in India of Her Britannic Majesty, Queen Victoria, Henry St. John Fitzroy Outram always kept A stiff upper lip, even under the most trying circumstances. But would he be able to manage the banquet given in his honour by His Highness, the Maharaja of Kathiawar?

Life as a woman’s journalist held plenty of surprises for Jay. When she found the ancient stenograph machine with its dusty old records of long ago court cases she found she was poking her nose into a case of Breach of promise - with consequences no-one could have predicted.

Wherever Maddy Beale worked, she always stole something as a point of honour - Something worth stealing. When she got a position with the Earl and Countess of Marske, she stole something bigger than she had ever imagined possible.

One of the more delicate tasks of the Dean of Westminster Abbey is to provide a fit and proper Place to rest for the great and the good. But some people, however famous, are simply beyond the pale.

Derek and Maureene had their heart set on running their own pub - Maureene wanted nothing more than to stand proudly behind the bar serving customers. Eventually, they found a perfect jewel of a country pub - The Red Cow. There was just one problem . . .

Some men manage to get it all - the good things in life just fall into their lap. It was like that with Chief Inspector Ray Hedges. A beautiful young wife and a fortune in property meant he could leave the Metropolitan Police and live a life of luxury. Of course, there was still that one Loose End.

Some lies are so big they can put you behind bars if you’re caught out. Maria Childs had told the lie out of harsh necessity and now it was coming back to haunt her - and it was all because of the Recipe for marmalade.

The Glass Harmonica by Richard Milton

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by RichardMilton (author): Hi There. My book The Glass Harmonica will appeal to fans of psychological mystery thrillers and offbeat crime stories.

I'm hoping that readers will enjoy the book enough to leave a short (or long!) review here on Library Thing and on Amazon.

This is a very unusual thriller, set partly in London and partly in the United States. The book is available as a .mobi file for Kindle, or as a .pdf for reading on a PC or laptop.

Description: Julia Franklin is an international concert pianist who is losing her nerve. Thousands of adoring fans pack the concert halls on both sides of the Atlantic. But Julia can’t shake off her nightmares or the fear that her career may be over. What Julia doesn’t know is that stage fright is the least of her problems. She has no idea that she is heir to a 200-year-old bequest worth a billion dollars - enough to bankrupt America's oldest bank when the bequest it holds in trust matures.

Miles Bartholemew, son of the president of Bartholemew Equity and Trust, is trying to atone for his wild youth by working in the public defender’s office in Sacramento, California, helping kids get off crime charges. Miles is stunned to learn on TV news that his grandfather, Nathaniel Bartholemew, has blown his brains out at the age of 91. Miles hasn’t had any contact with the family for six years but now he receives a letter from his father in Boston. It contains a $1,000 dollar bill and a single line of shaky handwriting:

“I must talk to you urgently. Please come home.”

His father tells Miles that the family bank was subject to a financial experiment by U.S. Founding Father Benjamin Franklin. Over 200 years, the small account left by Franklin has amassed more than a billion dollars in interest - and the account is due to mature in two months’ time. It will wipe out the family bank - unless Miles can find the beneficiaries of the Franklin trust and deal with them - permanently - before time runs out.

Julia hears disquieting news of a distant relative in the States who died as the victim of a bizarre “accident”. Other people are victims of equally mysterious “accidents” - a woman teacher drowns in a boating lake. An academic researcher has his neck broken by a falling window.

Julia tries to get the London police to act but the by-the-book inspector she talks to insists there is no evidence of foul play.

Julia has no inkling that a secret society has been waiting and watching in the shadows for two centuries for its moment to fulfil an ancient destiny by arranging fatal ‘accidents’ for all the beneficiaries of the Franklin bequest and claim the prize.

Drawing comparisons to Ender's Game as well as The Hunger Games and Divergent, Chimera has something to offer fans of Young Adult as well as readers of Sci-Fi, distopian, and adventure!

PRAISE FOR CHIMERA:
“I loved the world, and thought the authors walked the line between great description and action perfectly ... a cracking start to what promises to be an amazing series.”
—Tash McAdam, International Bestselling Author of The Psionics Series

“Chimera is an epic tale of rebellion, prophecy, and perseverance. With touches of Ender’s Game, and echoes of Asimov and Heinlein, this visionary story is a tense, exhilarating ride.”
—Richard Thomas, author of Disintegration

"The writing is vibrant and direct with young characters who show the same bravery, impatience and enthusiasm as their real-world counterparts ... a trait shared with some of the best work of Asimov and Anne McCaffrey. I highly recommend a trip into deep space on the Chimera.”

Description: On Tselaya Mountain, all humans transform into animals as a consequence of age — but for fieldwoman Esha, goat horns began growing in when she was just a child. Now in her forties, unmarried and alone, Esha scrambles to pay for her own retirement before she is more goat than person.

But when Esha stumbles into the wrong patch of forest, a wild phoenix steals her heirloom khukuri knife. Unwilling to lose her treasure before she can sell it, Esha forges a deal with Atarangi, a back-alley diplomat who speaks to animals. Together, the two women climb mountain plateaus to reach the wild phoenix’s territory. With enough tact and translation magic, the bird might be convinced to give Esha’s retirement fund back.

But the question remains: why did the phoenix steal an heirloom in the first place? What debt could a wild, free creature possibly need to pay?

Tinder Stricken is an adventure story driven by friendship, philosophy and language. It is set in a Nepal-inspired magical world that is populated by humans, phoenixes and other intelligent beings. This book is a stand-alone story with a clear ending.

Teddy Bear's Triumph: Tales from a Medical Allotment by Harvey Sagar

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by HarveySa (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

I hope you enjoy this book and post a review on Amazon.

Description: Doctors’ and lawyers’ eccentricity can border on farce; patients can be funny as well as sad; and the rigours of medical training and practice require means of escape and relief. “I blame my mother. And my teddy bear. Well not really, but without those two I wouldn’t be writing this book...” begins an account of the journey of a British hospital doctor from childhood aspirations to practising consultant. Told in the first person, the book relates the narrator’s observations on people and events around him as he journeys through the turmoil of medical education, junior doctor training and consultancy. The interactions with patients, doctors, nurses, drug companies and lawyers are outrageously funny but sometimes tinged with bitter-sweetness and light-hearted cynicism. The narrator includes anecdotes not only about hospital clinics and wards but also life as a medical student, emergency on call, visiting patients at home, research conferences abroad, the pharmaceutical industry and working in the USA. As an expert legal witness, he provides a witty insight into conferences with barristers, examination of cases in prison and attendance at court. After “coming of age,” a period as medical student in Oxford is followed by junior hospital doctor posts in Oxford and Sheffield, UK. The appointment to consultancy in Sheffield is preceded by a two-year period as clinical and research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and MIT, USA. The account of this period covers medical and non-medical experiences peculiar to the American life. Close to the end of the book, Miss Sanderson sums it up: “I’m sure Doctor that, like me, you’ve been around doctors, hospitals, patients and all the rest that medicine has to offer long enough to know that sometimes, as far as your experience is concerned, if you didn’t laugh, you’d cry.”

The Wizard and the Wood by Becca Price (Wyrmtales Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Becca7108 (author): This is a collection of fairy tales that takes place in the same world as Fairies and Fireflies. Ignore book 3 - Book 2 will be published in about 2 months. You do not need to read the books in sequence.

Description: Deep in the Wood, near a small city in southeastern Michigan, is a nature conservancy. There is a small education center and a gift shop that looks out at a bird feeder area with a pond. You can watch the birds and the fish in an indoor aquarium for hours. There are also walking paths, with interesting signs identifying plants and animals along the trail. Overlooking the children’s garden, a bronze statue stands of a little girl who died too young. And, if you come at just the right time of day and at the right season, you might hear wild Gypsy music faintly on the breeze.

There is also a secret, and the secret is this. In addition to protecting trees, birds and animals, it is also a safe, protected place for magical creatures such as elves, fairies, and dragons. To the outside world, it’s known as a nature conservancy. To the folk who live there, it’s the Wide Wild Wood.

Too Little, Too Late - "This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I don't normally read more than 30 minutes or so at a time. I started reading this book though and before I knew it two hours had slipped by. I just couldn't put it down. This book has great intensity that will leave you wanting more. An excellent read, Tandori is a highly imaginative author." - LA (Amazon)

The Ties That Bind - "This book is awesome, and filled with so many twists and turns.. deviousness, lies and secrets. No one in this book is innocent. I absolutely could not stop reading it. I can see now how little details in this story reach out into the rest of the books, it's really cool how intricate these books are woven. I could not stop reading once I picked this up." - mkittysamom (Amazon)

No Hard Feelings - "Worth reading I give it five stars great writing keeps you guessing what's happening next. Enjoyed the ending with all the characters." - Amazon Customer

Description: In this newest standalone addition to the Kate Stanton Hollywood Mystery Series…Thanks to the huge success of the year’s blockbuster civil war epic, The Crossing at Blaisdell Park, there’s been a resurgence of interest in the former sixties musical duo, the Paisleys, and its only surviving member, Kate Stanton, who had recorded an interactive version of the duo’s first hit single for the movie. With an initial worldwide gross of just under a billion dollars and a sequel already in production, it looks like the The Crossing – as it’s been dubbed by the press – is going to go down in history as one of Hollywood’s most successful film franchises – until tragedy strikes, that is. Just as Kate is about to unveil the Paisleys’ long-awaited star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a stolen cargo van jumps the curb a few feet from where everyone is gathered, killing a woman dressed as Charlotte Valcour, the heroine in The Crossing. The tragedy follows a series of disastrous events which have overshadowed shooting of the sequel, fueling rumors that the shoot is being haunted by the ghost of the movie’s dead heroine. Things become even more complicated when the director of the movie suddenly disappears during shooting of a pivotal battle scene. Kate soon realizes that Charlotte’s ghost may not be the only thing they need to contend with as she finds herself dodging a killer intent on exposing the truth behind The Crossing at Blaisdell Park.

——————————————————————————————

Lillie Voith—cherished daughter, wife, and mother of nine—is bedridden after a fall in her basement in 1933. Her memories tug at threads woven through a century, as the fabric of the family frays around her.
Family letters and diaries offer inroads to the thoughts and controversies of four generations, from her grandmother Mary Miller’s foreboding father, who forces the family onto a ship headed to America, to the Civil War doctor whose malfeasances remain a stain on the family name. Lillie pays homage to her parents, whose whirlwind courtship joined an ambitious young man to a self-sufficient woman who’d thought that her chance to start a family had passed, and who, instead, regained her youth through love of her daughter. And always, there’s Ferd, the husband who’d do anything for Lillie, even sacrifice his own dreams.
