--Grady Harp: AMAZON HALL OF FAME/TOP 50 REVIEWER/VINE VOICE

"Older couple Jack and Beverly had helped someone Libby Newton through a very awful tragedy, but tragedy then hit Jack and Bev sadly years later. So, Libby is called upon for help now and misuses the benefit of her job to hide the couple away in a timeshare home for the time being. By the way, old Bev is suffering from dementia! This leads to news of another death, then Bev's own death, which lead to the realization of a killer out there; possibly responsible for both murders. This tale explores the path leading to the killer, and it is quite a read! What unfolds is super clever, and I think you should read this to find out more. Recommended!" - Stephen V. Seebaran, Amazon

Description: Eight years ago, Michigan retirees, Jack and Beverly Donnelly, had helped Libby Newton recover from an unspeakable tragedy. Now the tables are turned and it’s the old couple who need Libby’s help when the most recent consequences of Beverly’s progressing dementia have left the old couple homeless. Libby, now the general manager of Banyan Bay Resorts, one of Orlando’s premier timesharing properties, secretly stashes the old couple in a new luxury unit intended for the resort’s VIP guests until she can find them a new home.

But the problems start almost immediately as Beverly’s dementia leaves her in a state of constant confusion over her unfamiliar surroundings and when she announces that she’s seen “Thanksgiving pilgrims” unloading boxes behind the resort’s pizzeria, Beverly’s announcement falls on deaf ears – until Rebecca Kendall, an attorney from Seattle, shows up at the resort a short time later, trying to retrace the last steps of her nineteen-year-old daughter, who’d abandoned her old life to embrace the Amish ways, only to be found dead in a south Florida motel six weeks earlier. Libby doesn’t believe the two incidents are connected until Beverly is found dead a short time later, the tragic victim of a double homicide.

With the help of her sister, Mia, who’s in Florida doing an exposé on one of the world’s most elusive treasure hunters, the amateur female sleuths retrace Beverly’s last steps – only to stumble upon a killer who soon has the sisters convinced that poor Beverly had been the sanest one of them all. In this wild ride of a murder mystery that starts in Orlando, the timeshare capital of the world and ends in a Key West adventure, the two sisters learn firsthand that honoring family secrets can be just as deadly as smuggling forbidden cargo...

A Suburban Tale by Robert King

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by RobertKing (author): I am the author of this flash fiction story. Would love to just get it out there and get some feedback. I hope you enjoy it!

Description: "A flash fiction look at a perfect life. Tom Hargrove has it all. A story of wealth, consumption, and in the case of Tom, an unfortunate consequence.

A potent look at American priorities, capitalism, consumerism, and its potentially deadly outcomes."

This story is a little different than my previously published flash fiction, in that it's more a contemporary look at a segment of American culture, as opposed to most of my other work, which falls into the realm of SciFi and Existentialism.

For those unfamiliar with flash fiction, I believe the following is a great description :

"Flash fiction is fiction with its teeth bared and its claws extended, lithe and muscular with no extra fat. It pounces in the first paragraph, and if those claws aren’t embedded in the reader by the start of the second, the story began a paragraph too soon. There is no margin for error. Every word must be essential, and if it isn't essential, it must be eliminated."

Offered by alecazandre (publisher): E-book edition (.epub or .mobi) of our timely underground literary fiction novel My Psychic War with Uncle Sam.

We’d appreciate your sincere LT book-review, and if possible on Barnes & Noble (http://goo.gl/x1CnT) or Amazon (http://goo.gl/Z2rKw).

Harmonious Circle Press
http://theharmoniouscirclepress.net

Description: An intellectual coming of age, My Psychic War with Uncle Sam swings from life on the military base with G.I. Joes in starched fatigues to the streets of Seattle where Dennis and Marcel encounter the hippie culture seeking nirvana on hallucinogenic drugs. The reader is taken on an exhilarating romp through western thought and history as the ideological struggles that permeated the 60’s generation are juxtaposed with the uncertainties of modern day life. With heavy doses of mysticism, drama, and humor—just to keep things interesting—the authors ask, “Who is Uncle Sam?”

Dennis DeLuccio invites the reader into his underground garden to rethink politics, war, sex, drugs, philosophy, religion, the occult, the origin of the hippie movement, and the meaning of a psychic war. Dennis drifts back to 1968 and his first assignment at Fort Lewis, Washington. He remembers Marcel Dreyfus, a young soldier who has just returned from a tour of duty in Vietnam. The many GI’s who say they don’t believe in the war, yet stand at attention, fall silent and follow orders even as they are shipped out to Nam, mystified Dennis. Marcel however cuts through the illusions of the so-called patriots with wit and rhetoric.

Packed with documented facts of U.S. foreign policy, paraphrased from the works of Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Bertrand Russell and others, as well as broadcast news reports of the period, My Psychic War with Uncle Sam infuses social comment with lived experience. Like Joseph Heller’s Catch-22, it fashions the account of a young army recruit living stateside through the Vietnam era into an eloquent and deeply funny plea against butchery in the service of authority. My Psychic War with Uncle Sam weaves historical fact and dramatic fiction into an essential storybook of our times that is both entertaining and enlightening.

“What a surprise! This is an exuberant romp through history, politics, and philosophy, through the eyes of a modern Alice in Wonderland. Escaping down a hole in his living room floor, Dennis seeks refuge from the horrors of 9-11 in his secret garden only to confront madness and paranoia, as he tends his garden and searches for an understanding of his experiences in the army during the Viet Nam era. The novel will keep you wondering what supposed masters of truth can be trusted to guide Dennis home in his psychic war with Uncle Sam?”
—Cynthia McKinney, U.S. Congresswoman and 2008 Green Party U.S. Presidential Nominee

“A dramatic account of one man’s psychic and political struggle against the cant and crimes of establishment institutions. Written with engaging candor and much human spirit.”
—Michael Parenti, author of Contrary Notions and God and His Demons

So far My Psychic War with Uncle Sam is earning mostly 5-star reviews on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, LibraryThing, and Goodreads. Here are some links relevant to the novel and its authors:

Breed the secret design to maintain racial inequality among the despised classes by William Chasterson (Smashwords )

Offered by william.chasterson (author): My name is William Chasterson. I'm the author of this book and I hope you enjoy it. I'm seeking honest reviews. Please also post to Amazon. Description: When Christopher Chambers, a bourgeois housecat decides to flee custody rather than be adopted by a new family, he unwittingly finds himself thrust into the position of deciding the fate of all of animalkind.

Told from the first person viewpoint of a housecat, Breed chronicles the incredible transformation of a cute and loveable kitten into a brutal dictator. Along the way our hero is forced to realize the complexity of the world he lives in as he is coerced to make one compromise after another. This Kafkaesque novel delves into the darkest corners of the human condition in search of the causes of racism and inequality. What is discovered is made palatable by coating it with an entertaining story about talking animals. In my first novel I attempt to analyze questions raised by Plato, Darwin, and Adolf Hitler regarding equality.

Thirty years later, he’s on the run from his partners in a Chicago museum heist in which a valuable ancient Indian artifact called the Shooting Star was stolen and two people killed. Michael escaped with the Star and his life, but he needs money to get out of the country. The Hangman's Replacement: Sprout of Disruption by Taona Dumisani Chiveneko (Chiveneko Publishing Inc.)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by Taona (publisher): I am the publisher of the book and would like to expand its readership by building a solid base of reviews, especially as a run-up to the sequel which is due in the next few months.

Description: SYNOPSIS

Zimbabwe’s last hangman retired in 2004. As the nation drifted towards abolition, no determined effort was launched to find a replacement. However, the discovery of carnivorous flame lilies at the Great Zimbabwe monument triggered a spirited search for a new executioner. Those who know why this discovery energized the recruitment effort refused to talk. The frantic attempts to find a new hangman were impeded by the lack of suitable candidates. Well-placed sources confirmed that the fear of ngozi was a deterrent.

According to this traditional belief, the spirit of a murdered person torments the killer and his family for generations. However, this is only half the story. Several promising applicants did come forward. None met the minimum requirements for the job. The selection criteria were designed to exclude the mentally ill, the vindictive, and the sadistic. However, they did not rule out the desperate.

The Sprout of Disruption (Book 1) introduces the universe of characters whose lives have been set alight by the plant which sparked the recruitment effort. It tells the story of the aspiring hangman who was obsessed with securing the job, the sympathizers who fought to protect him from his prize, and the anxious men who believed that emptying death row would end their horror before the meat-eating plants constricted around their necks.

Young’s The Reader and Lilia Fabry’s House of Tin, to the crescent stories of Imaginary Numbers by Corinn Heathers and The Color of Silence by Mandy Broughton—and set you safely among cerebral poems like those of Richard King Perkins II and John Grey. If you're a fan of historical adventure novels - especially featuring a strong heroine - this may be right up your street!

The book itself has been published as 3 separate short books, but I will send a pdf of all 3 as one book (requiring Adobe Reader on your computer).

If you're a fan of Jane Austen mixed with the 'Scarlet Pimpernel' and Patrick O'Brien, you might enjoy this read.

Description: England, 1790.

Eighteen-year-old Rebecca Somerville has inherited the bankrupt Somerville estate and is won in a wager with her guardian by the decadent Earl of Marshwood. On her way to marriage with the notorious rake, Rebecca's coach is waylaid by a mysterious brigand who is evidently targeting the earl.

Brought up by her family to believe that a girl has as much right to her freedom and independence as any boy, Rebecca's life changes dramatically after the death of her father leaves her an orphan and her uncle takes his children off to the new United States. Her guardian has a traditional view of the place and role of women, and is only too pleased when she is taken off his hands by the earl.

But what can the arrogant, middle-aged earl possibly want with her? He has always taken any woman whenever he liked, and as Somerville is bankrupt there can be nothing there.

As Rebecca finds new and unusual friends in unlikely places a picture begins to emerge. As the earl's true nature and purpose are gradually revealed, Rebecca is increasingly faced with stark choices, choices which will put both herself and her friends in danger.

When Robert, a childhood friend, writes asking for help to get away from his confinement by the revolutionary authorities in France, Rebecca must act - but anything she does will place her and her friends in jeopardy.

What is the secret of the Somerville Legacy? How can Rebecca escape her fate at the hands of the brutal Earl of Marshwood? And what can she do, a helpless orphan against her will betrothed to a man she loathes, to save the life of her friend?

The Somerville Legacy is the first part of the Somerville Trilogy. The Somerville Inheritance and the Somerville Treasure will follow.

The Trigger by L.J. Sellers (Spellbinder Press)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by ljsellers (author): I introduced Agent Jamie Dallas in Crimes of Memory (Detective Jackson #8). I had so much fun writing her undercover role that I knew she needed her own series. The Trigger is the first book featuring Agent Dallas as the protagonist. I hope you enjoy her as much as I do.

Description: Agent Jamie Dallas loves undercover assignments that get her out of the Phoenix Bureau. But when a woman and her baby disappear from an isolated community of preppers in Northern California, she knows the risk of infiltrating the armed group is dangerously high.

Once inside the compound, she discovers that the brothers who founded Destiny are scheming something far more devious than kidnapping or murder. Meanwhile, her local FBI contact, Agent McCullen, is pulled from her team and assigned to investigate the murder of a woman with phony ID, found at the bottom of a motel pool.

Soon Dallas finds herself in deeper trouble than she's ever encountered—with no way to reach her contacts. Can she break free of the bunker and stop their bizarre end-of-world plans? Will Agent McCullen identify the killer in time to help?

The Trigger is a gripping story that highlights our greatest fear—how a megalomaniac and a hacker-for-hire can threaten civilization as we know it.

Obviously I would like to attract as many positive reviews as possible, but if you genuinely don't like the book, I still encourage you to write a review. Dealing with criticism is part of what being a writer is all about.

I do ask however that you read the blurb before downloading the book or entering the Giveaway just to see if it is in fact your kind of book to begin with (i.e. Thriller, Drama, Suspense).
What do the first 100 Reviewers get in return?
A free e-copy of The Prediction book to begin with ;-)
If (when!) it is officially published - a free signed physical copy
A free e-copy of my next book (probably 2015)
A link to your blog (if you have one) on my website
Special mention in the acknowledgements section of my next book
And well, if I ever make it big and become a bestselling author, trust me when I say the First 100 Reviewers VIP list is NOT something I will easily forget! :-)

Description: PRAISE for "The Prediction":
"Gripping storyline, full of suspense and a most unexpected ending."
"An engaging suspense-filled book that kept me awake reading way into the night!"
"I finished it in one sitting - amazing. This book deserves to be read!"
"This is one of the most compelling, vivid, clever stories I've read in quite some time."

Nobody knows the day they’ll die... until now.

Mathematical genius Daniel Geller has developed a formula to predict a person’s date of death only to have it rejected by the faculty at Trinity College. Totally devastated Daniel turns his back on the world he once loved.

Twelve years on, Daniel’s old professor John Redmond and his wife are coming to terms with the death of their ten-year-old son. Could Daniel's formula have predicated his death? Revisiting the thesis, the professor makes an astonishing discovery: out of the five fellow students whom Daniel used the formula on, one of them died on the exact date predicted by Daniel. One more is due to die in six days: Daniel’s ex-lover Grace.

The professor draws Daniel back into the world of mathematics where he is suddenly faced with the dilemma of allowing someone he once loved to die to be one step closer to proving his thesis and enjoying a prestige he once dreamed of...

Set in the vibrant cities of Dublin and Amsterdam, The Prediction is a powerful story about coping with shattered dreams, the loss of a loved one, and an illustration of just how unpredictable the human heart can be.

Of Course You Can by John Sichel

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Recipient is asked to provide a review in exchange for this book.

Offered by JohnSichel (author): This book is available as ebook only in epub, mobi and PDF formats.

I hope you enjoy this book and post a review on Amazon.

Description: "It is often the case that parents of a child with a learning disability will focus on the achievements of the child, only intermittently stopping to celebrate their own achievements in raising that child. Creating a safe and supportive environment where a child with learning disabilities can feel not only loved, but valued, respected, able to make their own choices and decisions and reach their potential, is a great achievement and John Sichel and his family should be proud to have accomplished this. We all face challenges in life but it is how we deal with those challenges that make the difference. John and his family stood by what they believed was best for their son Robin and in doing so nurtured an independent, strong willed and confident human being. In writing this book John will help many other families who are faced with having a child who is considered different to others. There will be similarities and parallels to other children and other families, but John Sichel's book helps us recognise that all children are unique individuals, some more unique than others, but all with a valuable contribution to make." Description: The disappearance of his great-uncle Samuel during World War II has shaped the life of the young university lecturer, Shmulik Kaplan. As part of his Master's Thesis on the history of Germany between the wars, he sets out to try and discover what happened to his uncle – an outstanding athlete who managed to leave Germany in 1935, and yet incomprehensibly, returned to Berlin, and then vanished without a trace.

From his book lined office at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, to Berlin and to Mont St. Michel in France, and through the dusty WW II archives of the German army, the quest takes him on a rollercoaster journey of personal discovery and emotion. The search uncovers events and materials that no-one had ever heard of before, or seen, since the days of the German occupation of France.

Don't Judge Me by Sylvie Fox (Penner Media)

This book is an eBook, not a physical book.

Offered by Sylvie.Fox (author): Ebook copy of Don't Judge Me. I'd love to get your feedback and reviews on this new series. It's a sexy, contemporary romance.

Description: So far, Raphael Augustine’s ten year career as a comedian consists of a lot of ones: one night gigs, one night stands, and one night in jail. But he’s committed to inking a successful TV deal, nonetheless. He’s not looking for a relationship and certainly doesn’t expect to have his briefs tied in a knot by a prim and proper woman from Connecticut.

There’s not much to laugh about in Daisy Fletcher’s life. She never thought an Ivy League degree would land her work as an adult webmaster. Years later, fake chat room dates are her only companions, and a failing business her reward. Her father always told her men only want one thing. By selling that one thing to virtual customers, she’s lost faith in the opposite sex.

After Daisy catches Raphael’s shirt during a striptease at a gay bar, she’s tempted. Can a rakish comic change Daisy’s ideas about love and fortune?
