Learning to Read and Teaching Reading

This group has become officially dormant. It happens. If you want to revive this group, or create a new group on the same topic see this page.

The idea is to discuss resources that teach reading and help others develop an interest in reading literature.

Anyone can join, parents, teachers, educators, and writers. If you know of books that are good for teaching reading, bring them to the attention of the visitors. They can be for preschool, grade school, high school, or home school. They can also be for special needs students such as those with dyslexia, ADD, autism, and those who have problems with hearing and sight.

Tell stories that might inspire others. For instance, when is was in the army, I gave a close friend “The Old Man and the Sea”. He told me later that he stayed up most of the night reading the book and that it made him cry.

Did you teach your child with autism or dyslexia to read? If so, tell us about it.
