Radical Teachers

Description: For teachers committed to social justice and creating a more democratic and egalitarian society. For teachers interested in school reform, the fight AGAINST standardization, No Child Left Behind, "accountability," charter schools, vouchers, merit pay, high stakes testing, for-profit schools, tracking; and FOR stronger teacher unions, smaller class sizes, equitable funding, giving teachers more freedom and time for planning. And for teachers interested in pedagogies that are feminist, anti-racist, anti-heterosexist, anti-sectarian, anti-ablist, anti-anthropocentric, democratic, cooperative, student-centered, constructivist, neo-Marxist, post-Marxist, anarchist, environmentalist, or in critical pedagogy, as well as free schools, progressive schools, unschooling, Montessori, Waldorf schools, service-learning, place-based education, or the works of progressive/radical education thinkers and teachers. Or simply for teachers who want to help their students reach their full potential and empower them to take action in their communities to fight for a better world.
