Book Sale
Winter Book Sale: Saturday, February 9, 2019 @ 9:00am - 3:00pm
The Friends of the Decatur Library will host a book sale on Saturday, February 9, 2019, from 9 am to 3 pm. The sale will be held inside the building, on lower level of the Decatur Library. Thousands of gently used fiction, nonfiction and children’s books, as well as CDs, and DVDs will be available for purchase. Only cash or checks will be accepted. Dealers must scan at tables. All proceeds benefit the programs and collections of the Decatur Library. Admission to this exciting event is FREE! Donations of gently used books are always welcome at library front desks.

Meet Historian and Author Jim Jordan
Liberty Books, Saturday, February 16 at 3pm
Jim Jordan won the 2018 Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council Excellence Award for his book The Slave-Trader’s Letter-Book: Charles Lamar, the Wanderer, and Other Tales of the African Slave Trade. These 70 long-lost letters detail the illegal landing of 400 African slaves on American soil by Charles Lamar who used the yacht the Wanderer as a slave ship dropping off slaves on Jekyll Island.
Gwinnett County Public Library, in partnership with Liberty Books, presents this author event with Jim Jordan on Saturday, February 16 at 3:00 pm at Liberty Books, 176 W Crogan Street, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. This event is free and open to the public.

Meet the Author: Jonathan Putnam
Aurora Theatre, Sunday, March 3 at 6:30pm
A recognized Lincoln scholar, Putnam’s research has focused on the young Abraham Lincoln and his defining relationship with friend Joshua Speed. Putnam’s books in the Lincoln and Speed Mystery Series include Final Resting Place (2018), Perish from the Earth (2017) and These Honored Dead (2016). This series has been a critical and commercial success. Doris Kearns Goodwin, Pulitzer Prize winner, writes, “Jonathan Putnam combines an historian’s understanding of character and context with a remarkable narrative drive that kept me fascinated from start to finish."

Presented by Gwinnett County Public Library, Putnam will speak on the topic “How the Young Lincoln Became Our Lincoln.” Hear him speak on Sunday, March 3 at 6:30 pm at the Aurora Theatre. Free parking is located at 153 East Crogan Street, Lawrenceville, GA 30046. Free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing courtesy of Eagle Eye Books.
