Russia and America: Can We Get Along?
Folio: The Seattle Athenaeum, Wednesday, September 26 at 7pm
Experts discuss the turmoil Trump has caused and how to set a better course.

The end of the Cold War. The rise of Putin and nationalism. Questions about NATO. The wild card of President Trump. Add that up and Russian-American relations are in a sorry and dangerous state. What has caused this? Is Russia now an "enemy"? How stable are Russia and its former components? What mixture of cooperation and push-back makes sense for America? What is Trump's game and is he beholden to Putin and Russia's oligarchs?

To discuss these and other urgent topics, Folio has assembled a distinguished panel of Russian experts and national journalists. On the panel: Scott Radnitz of the UW's Jackson School and an expert on its border states; Robert W. Merry, journalist and historian with a specialty in foreign affairs; Lara Iglitzin, executive director of the Henry M. Jackson Foundation which focuses on human rights in Russia; Mort Kondracke, noted political journalist and author; and Bill Buzenberg, a former top editor at NPR who later oversaw the breaking of the story on The Panama Papers, tracking Russian oligarchs.

Complementary wine reception to follow.

$10 general; $8 Folio members.
