Minnesota authors Faith Sullivan, Heidi Erdrich, and Shannon Olson will read from and discuss "Riding Shotgun: Women Write about Their Mothers," an anthology, at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26, as part of the Northfield Reads! communitywide book club. Place TBD.

Laura Goering. River City Books will host a book release party for Laura Goering, author of "Whistling Wings" at noon on Saturday, Sept. 27.
"Whistling Wings" is a children's book written by Goering, a professor of Russian at Carleton College.
