Chelsea Cain Signs in San Diego
Mysterious Galaxy, Friday, September 19 at 7pm
As her online bio states, Chelsea Cain was not an ordinary child ...with her expansive pet cemetery and the deep interest in the local terror known as The Green River Killer. Later, as she worked as a journalist and PR firm’s creative director, she toiled away at fiction writing. While she wrote novel after novel, it wasn’t until she saw The Green River Killer back in the news, this time in hand cuffs, that she received the inspiration for her “gory thriller” that would become 2007’s Heartsick, an MG signed first edition pick. Five novels later, Chelsea launches One Kick, the first in a new series, about a former kidnap victim who has developed resilience and combat skills and uses them to find two missing children. One Kick is one of our Fantastic First selections for September.

Anna Carey and Gretchen McNeil Sign in San Diego
Mysterious Galaxy, Sunday, September 21 at 2pm
Gretchen McNeil Anna Carey Two prominent names in Southern CA young adult fiction come to visit us with their newest releases! Anna Carey, author of the renowned Eve Trilogy, studied creative writing at NYU before getting her MFA in fiction from Brooklyn College. Blackbird’s a protagonist has no memory of herself, but a curious tattoo on her wrist bears the likeness of the titular bird and the code: FNV02198. While this is mystery enough, the bigger question she faces is why everyone seems to want her dead. Before she was delivering splashes of YA horror, Gretchen McNeil was an opera singer and voice actress, most notably the voice of Mary on G4’s animated program Code Monkeys. Her fifth novel, Get Even, centers around a group of girls who have formed “Don’t Get Mad,” a secret group responsible for seeking revenge on bullies and crooked teachers. But when a dead body bearing a “DGM” card is found, it looks like someone wants revenge on them.

Preorder Get Even and receive something super special!

From Gretchen's blog:

In order to get the word out about my first-ever series, and as a thank you to you, the amazing fans who have been so supportive over the years, I've gotten special permission from my publisher to release the first two chapters of GET DIRTY on September 16th.

Why two chapters? Because a huge, massive, game-changing plot twist is dropped in the very last line of Chapter 2.

The chapters will be printed up in a signed, special edition booklet, along some Get Even bonus material and a signed Don't Get Mad bookplate.

James Ellroy Signs in San Diego
Mysterious Galaxy, Monday, September 22 at 7pm
James Ellroy is no stranger to humanity’s dark side since his exposure to the tragedy of homicide in his early years.
