About meI was born old, sentimental, and prone to laugh. At 53 I've stopped apologizing for my taste in books. I enjoy them. End of story.

About my libraryIt started the day we ordered our first book from the Scholastic Books catalog in grade school. I could own my own books? I was hooked for life.

Of the approximately 2,000 books I own I've only entered a few hundred here. These are the books I enjoy owning the most.

The 2 books we "share" in our LT catalogues are titles I inherited from my Granddad: Sullivan's In One Ear and Mauldin's Up Front. I've not read them yet, would be curious as to any insights you have on either author. I see you own another title of Sullivan's which you've rated very high.
Hi Al, I have always wanted someone else to have read Mr. Wilmer, just so I could chat about it. Such a funny, odd, charming book, I love to reread it. The sly, adult references hidden in the simple story are so much fu. Mr. Wilmer's life is suddenly turned topsy turvy like magic and reality blended in a way to make the book sound like the fiction it is and also like a little biography of a real person.
Hi, Al - Was looking at author Curtis Harnack and found your stuff. I only recently "discovered" Harnack. Just read/reviewed We Have All Gone Away and will begin his Persian Lions, Persian Lambs soon. I've written to Harnack. May be able to swap him a couple books for The Attic, his memoir sequel to WHAGA. I'm a Michigander myself, but love memoirs of all types. Recommend some to me, okay? Hello to Wisconsin. - Tim
