My baby. I can't imagine my life without her.

Ok, I just have to say this. Please forgive me if I sound snippy. I no longer read reviews on LibraryThing AT ALL. I only read reviews of books I have recently finished reading. It amazes me that so many people have no clue how to write a review. One does NOT completely give away the ending in a written review. I repeat: DO NOT. If a person on here does not give away the ending; they instead give away major plot points. It is very, very irritating. If one absolutely must mention ‘give-a-ways’ in their review, it would be much appreciated if they would head the review with the a spoiler warning. Sadly, most people do not.
Alright, rant concluded. ;-)

HI this thanks so much I didn't catch that, and it's something that wold usually drive me nuts, thanks so much! Love the book quotes and avatars.
Hey there - thanks for the feedback. It is nice to know I am not alone!

One of the benefits of advancing age is acceptance of difference. It is also licence to work on curmudgeonly behaviour - at which I find am becoming increasingly adept! *grin*

I used to feel like I should whisper bad reviews - or say nothing - especially when everyone else seems to be raving about the book in question. But now I have decided I am grown up enough to be sure of my opinions - in the cliched 'I know what I like' (and don't like) mode. I am also comfortable with being not on the same page with majority opinion - to mix a metaphor.

There's a popular British TV show called 'Grumpy Old Women' which was a hit down here in the colonies too. I did not think they were particularly grumpy nor particularly old either. Harrumph.

Oh, and all that new age cosmic stuff simply makes my blood boil. I don't know why I even bother picking drivel like 'the Alchemist' up. Every now and then I think that so many good reviews can't be all wrong and weaken - and almost always discover I have wasted both good money and scarce time. One day I will learn!
Hi 777Penny,

My name is Dawn and I am a librarian and the host of Toronto Public Library’s online book club: Book Buzz and a fellow LibraryThing member.

This month we are reading The Time Traveler’s Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger I noticed that you include The Time Traveler’s Wife in your library and that you gave it a 5-star review. I’d just like to invite you to visit us and share your thoughts about Niffenegger’s book. It’s a friendly easy-going book club with over 800 members and we are always looking for new points of view.

We will also be hosting a live chat with the author, Audrey Niffenegger on:
Monday, December 15, 2008. 7-8 pm (Toronto time)

If you are interested, visit us at http://bookbuzz.torontopubliclibrary.ca .

Thank-you for your time,
Dawn

If the local villagers start chasing you with pitchforks and torches, Penny, you just let me know.

I'm glad to find anyone who disliked The Alchemist. We're a minority.
Thank you for the compliment a while back.
I've gotten fairly possessive after losing a few books I loaned out.
I like the 'book slut' mini-pic. verah cute.
Bibliophiles meet Thursday March 13th at 7 pm at Belle Isle Brewery near Penn Square Mall (in the restaurant part). If you hit the Local tab at the top right cluster of tags of your it will have the meeting info. You can also google Bibliophiles of Oklahoma and find the site, probably my blog, etc., etc. You're more than welcome to come!
Are you far from OKC? We're having the inaugural meeting of the Bibliophiles of Oklahoma this week, and you'd be welcome to come.

Hi Penny! Nice to meet a fellow Okie. So what do you think of Library Thing? I have been a member almost 2 years and have never had so much fun playing on a web-site. LOL sounds like I really need to get a life huh? I've added you to my interesting libraries also. =)
Kathy
Hey there, absolutely love the library photo. I will be building a house in the near future and have been looking at ideas. Where is that from someone you know? On another note how do you import the cute photos on your profile page?

Hope you have a great new year.
