About my libraryThe American Information Resource Center (AIRC) Lahore is a research and reference service for Pakistan government officials, journalists, researchers and others with a professional interest in the United States. The AIRC collection includes online and CD-ROM databases, an up-to-date reference books collection, video collection, recent U.S. government documents and extensive periodicals collection online.
The AIRC can assist in locating and retrieving information about the U.S, such as U.S. law or legal decisions, testimony before the U.S. Congress, U.S. policy toward Pakistan, South Asia or other regions, speeches and statements by the U.S. President or other U.S. officials, treaties between the U.S. and Pakistan, biographical information on American political, cultural and business leaders, recent articles from hundreds of American publications, web sites for official U.S. government policy and much more!
A qualified bilingual information resource specialist will assist you with inquiries and research by telephone, fax, mail or e-mail using the latest electronic resources. The Center can also draw on specialized materials through a network of U.S. Embassy Information Resource Centers and contacts in the United States.
The AIRC is an integral part of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate Lahore, which carries out a variety of activities designed to promote a better understanding of the policies, values, institutions, and culture of the United States. The AIRC aims to build bridges of understanding between Pakistan and the United States, bridges that will increase each nation's perception of the heritage, customs and culture of the other.
The AIRC is open on an appointment basis. Government officials, journalists, academics and other serious researchers wishing to visit the AIRC to use any of the materials can make an appointment by telephone 042-603-4243, fax 042-603-4220, or email irclahore@state.gov.
