About meI have a Master's in English; I pursued a PhD in the same field and then stopped/quit/ditched out while a.b.d. I teach in the first-year writing programs at DePaul (full-time) and the University of Illinois at Chicago (part-time), while writing (speculative fiction) and taking more grad courses (linguistics/TESOL, information tech, psychology, and public service) in what I laughably call my spare time. I live the suburbs with My Three Sons, all of whom invest my life with meaning.

About my libraryIt invites you either to a. admire it, or b. suck it, and suck it hard.

Verklempt? Please. You should have passed the age of verklemptness a long time ago. If you are verklempt, please do not attribute this emotional upset to me. Look to your library. Mervyn Peake (with his horribly lugubrious young Titus) is enough to induce a state of permanent verklemtpness in the stomach of anyone. When I was a wee tot, I read the Gorminghast trilogy and had to be put to bed for a week on a diet of thin toast and weak tea. Only my remarkable powers of recovery saved me. I hope Gorminghast stayed a trilogy. So many works don't. It's shocking the way authors lead one on, promising that the misery will end with book three, and then, in a fit that I attribute to sheer self-indulgence, they go on to write twenty-four more book-length installments about the same characters. Really, someone should speak to them about this.
But you've always been so witty. And you clean up so nicely. I'm envious. Do we really only share two books thus far?
Wow! What can I say? This has to be the most interesting library I've seen in years. The possibilities here are simply endless. This library is beyond postmodern jouissance. By the way, your real name is not The Lord of Misrule. And . . . that is not your picture up there. It's way too flattering. I know who you are. You know who you are. Stop by and say hello. Don't pay attention to my recently added books. They're all dull. I've been doing some minor tweaking: scanning in covers for which none yet exist, adding tags, and entering miscellaneous books that somehow missed the great April/May entry frenzy.
