Hee, let me know what books you get. Btw, I have about 200 books in storage as well.... ;)
I imagine I'm too late to give you great information in time for your thesis, and I apologize - I haven't checked my profile in awhile! However, I don't mind letting you know why I read chick-lit. I read it because it is a fantastic combination of realism and romanticism, at least for me. The plots are romantic in nature, but the characters (especially the protagonist) are wholly realistic people. They make mistakes, they doubt themselves, and they generally make me laugh outloud at the things they do - because I've done some of the same things. C.S. Lewis said "We read to know we are not alone", and I read chick-lit because of that - it resonates with me because the plots and the characters are very similar to myself and my life.

Some of my favorites are Something Borrowed and Something Blue by Emily Giffen, Rachel's Holiday by Marian Keys, and most anything by Jennifer Weiner.

Hope this helps!
Dear chick-lit reader,

I’m a belgian university student that loves chick-lit. Would you like to help me with my thesis and write to me why you (personally) like reading chick-lit? What is it about chick-lit that appeals to you? What are your favourite books and why? Your help would mean a lot to me!

Best wishes,

Ester Wellens
