About meI *love* reading. Isn't it obvious?
I am especially preoccupied with literature from the 18th and 19th centuries - preferably British, Russian, German, and French.
I'm a great fan of historical fiction and have recently become interested in biographies of historical personages.
But to not dwell too deep into the past, I amuse myself with several modern or contemporary pieces every once in a while. I guess it's good to keep in touch with the times...

About my libraryWell... I'm a recent graduate of the English department of UC:Riverside (in California). That might explain some of the books that have found their way onto my library shelf. But I'm also a native Russian speaker - thus the numerous works of Russian Lit. Also, I devote some of my free time to the study of French and German, so that is why some of my language text books are listed in my library.

Noticed you liked Catcher in the Rye, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my novel since it's also about a disturbed adolescent suffering from mental illness. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm currently out of physical copies). If you're interested, send me your e-mail address (mine is mail@christophertusa.com), and I'll send you the e-book. Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to read more about the book before you commit:

Women, please let your own sun,
your concentrated energy,
your own submerged authentic vital power
shine out from you.
We are no longer the moon,Today we are truly the sun,
We will build shining golden cathedrals
at the top of crystal mountains,
East of the Land of the Rising Sun.
Women, when you paint your own portrait,
do not forget to put the golden dome at
the top of your head.

— Raicho Hiratsuka (1887-1971)
(From Women's Manifesto 1911 translated by Mayumi Oda)
As a person in love with "The Evasion English Dictionary", I'd like to know:

a. How did you discover this book? and

b, What was your experience- what did you think the book was about?

[Thanks for taking the time to reply]
I didn't expect to find anyone with this, but you are the only other person with "Deutches Lesebuch"--mine was published in 1931. I bought it for 50 Pfennigs at a flea-market somewhere in Germany (can't remember which one, I used to visit a lot of them).
