Thanks for that, Ally! It's always good to have someone else's opinion of books I am about to read. I like to know a little about what Im letting myself in for. I'm sorry to hear you've been having family problems and I do hope things have now improved for you. Don't forget to take care of yourself too!
Don't be a bit sorry about the surgery - it was the best thing I've ever done and I haven't felt this well in years! The photo is beautiful - it's so silly of me to yearn for that kind of view so much because I live between the sea (though we don't have any beaches half as beautiful as yours) and the moors and have nothing to complain of there - except that or sky is usually so much greyer here than it is in your photo and that makes so much difference. I do rather hanker to see Sicily one day and I'm ashamed to admit I didn't know about The Valley of the Temples but I'm sure it would suit me fine as I do love the Acropolis with a passion.

We've been holidaying in Greece for about 15 years now - Crete, the Peloponnese, Athens, Kefalonia and Zakynthos but we're especially in love with Crete and 'our' particular bit of the Peloponnese so that's mostly where we keep heading back to. And wow, I envy you that bilingual-ness (if that's a word). I've been working on my Greek for a very long time now but it still feels and sounds very much like a (not very good) second language. I dream of just conversing without having to fish the words from the very back of my memory!

By the way, I'm interested to see you have Real World in your library. I'm not familiar at all with Kirino's work but I do have Grotesque on my 'to be read' pile. I can't quite decide whether it excites me or not so at the moment I'm putting it off for other things. Should I move it up the pile, do you think?

Hi Ally! I just noticed your favourite holiday spots on the thread about '3's and couldn't resist backing you up on those. I am crazy about Greece - both islands and mainland - and my husband and I try to visit there at least once a year. After that, I guess my next favourite place in the world has to be Italy, although it is many years now since I was there and even that was little more that a quick crossing of the border as far as Rimini. I did feel, though, that the whole atmosphere changed the minute we crossed over from France. It is such a beautiful country and I hope to visit there again one day. I am sick with envy at the thought of you actually living there! I've been trying to make out the writing on the sign in your photo as the scenery looks either Greek or Italian and makes me ache with nostalgia. We didn't manage to get to Greece this year as I was having soem pretty major surgery, but I can't wait to get back there!

Well, thank you! :)
I've gotten the book by Edogawa Rampo (Japanese tales of mystery and imagination) http://www.librarything.nl/work/8379237/... back from my friend. I will upload it on BM and reserve it for you :)
AllyBally- Yesterday, I received the book Deep River that I angeled for you. I have posted it to BookMooch reserved in your name.
