About meI have two areas of interest: as a writer and editor on military ammunition and guns, and as an author of speculative fiction.
The fiction came about by accident. I have a particular interest in the Second World War and had spent much time pondering the "what ifs?" of that conflict. Eventually it occurred to me to write an alternative history of the war, imagining what might have happened if both Germany and Britain had received advice about the future, via a couple of inadvertent time-travelling historians who woke up in 1934. The story emerged as 'The Foresight War' in 2004.
My second novel, 'Scales', started with an idea: what would happen if a man suffered an accident after which he acquired some decidedly non-human characteristics, including a reptilian skin and the ability to sense and influence nervous systems? The first half of the story explores what might happen to such a man in present-day England, then expands to provide an explanation - which involves parallel worlds, non-human species and a major threat to our civilisation.
At the moment I am focusing on non-fiction, but hope to pick up the fiction reins again in the autumn. Details of all of my books (plus the first chapters of the novels) are on my website, plus a lot of other material.
I also maintain an SFF blog at: http://sciencefictionfantasy.blogspot.co...
About my libraryMy library is divided into two sections: military history and technology, and science fiction/fantasy. At present I have only included a small selection of my books, choosing the most representative ones, but I'll keep adding more!
On the fiction side, I particularly like the SF authors and stories of the 1950s to 1970s period, which is the period when I did most reading, before the demands of earning a living etc intervened.

Englishman Matthew Johnson suffers massive burns in a mysterious explosion and fire at his home. Recovering after months in hospital, he is greatly changed: his skin and hair have been replaced by reptilian scales, and he has acquired an acute sensitivity to other people's nervous systems, plus the ability to affect them. After initially spending time using his new ability to cure patients of nervous diseases, he is drawn into the dangerous world of counter-terrorism with tragic results. On restarting his life, he discovers the startling truth about his transformation – which includes parallel worlds, non-human societies and a threat to the existence of human civilisation. Only he can avert disaster, but time is running out.
You can read the first two chapters from the book on my website if you'd like to get a flavour of it.
Thanks, Tony

Your second novel "Scales" sounds fascinating. Could you give me more information about the plot? Thanks!
