About meI'm an author, blogger, Technorati BlogCritic, advocate and speaker for the indie author movement, and founder of Publetariat, the premier online news hub and community for indie authors and small imprints.

About my libraryI'm primarily an author of comic fiction (see my website link), though I've begun work on a new novel that will be more serious in tone. As a reader, I enjoy a wide variety of books. In nonfiction, I like humorous essays and books about social and cultural issues, animals, nature, and books about historical topics and people that read like fiction. In fiction, I enjoy comic novels, historical, thrillers (ala Stephen King, not espionage-spy-mystery stuff), things that are offbeat and dark, and magical realism. Busy as I am, most of my "reading" these days is done via audiobooks on my iPod.

Two Wolves - A Cherokee Parable

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life...

"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.
"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.

"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather,
"Which wolf will win?"

The old chief simply replied,
"The one you feed."
Thanks for the add, hope to see you again in the Green Dragon soon.
I was just going to point out the thread about pod books in the Early Reviewers group but it looks like maggie beat me to it! Great minds... Here's a link to the thread:

:)
April - did you see in the Early Reviewers' thread of POD books that Abby is working on getting early review copies of books direct from authors, and maybe from some self publishers? I thought you would be interested.

best wishes for your continued success, Karen (aka Maggie1944)
I loved your Snow Ball novel, it was my first read on my new kindle. I hope all is well, I just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed your book. Keep up the excellent work, I really look up to you!
Hey, April, I think your welcome in the Green Dragon is pretty warm. On Fridays, sometimes, some people go to the Green Dragon chat room. You can find it by going to the Green Dragon profile page and read in the description where it sez something like "chat here". It is usually only a couple three people but it may be a good spot for discussion on how to accomplish your projects. Good luck.
Hey April I am currently a software engineer/web developer myself, although I must say I have days I wonder why oh why I ever got into the field. :) I am reading about 3 books right now but when I am done with those I will check out Snow-Ball. I do think there needs to be a better way for new authors to promote their works.
