GroupsSpaniards who LibraryThing

About me Retired from Cornwall to Spain, wondering how I ever found time to work.

I enjoy gardening in this Spanish climate, cooking, photography (though not good at it) and spending time pottering about with partner and friends.

About my library An eclectic mix going back over 60 years, reflecting changes in my attitudes, life and interests. Many books ejected, given away, or not returned. As I get older I try to downsize my collection routinely, but it creeps up again.

Thank you!

That Maggie O'Farrell book does sound very good. I've had it recommended to me by Amazon and seen it about in the shops so may well get hold of it at some point.

Looking forward to perusing your collection!

Nice to hear from you Pamela, I didn't know about hot gardeners - will take a look. I do know all about hot winds from the Sahara - but in Madeira. We call it the "Leste". Brings clouds of dust and plagues of Locusts. will be in Valencia later this month for a Horticultural Trade Show. If you ever are in Lisbon drop me a line.

Hello Rainbow,

Thought I'd drop in on another transplanted gardener. You are the first "Spaniard" I have found with a common interest. I'm in Sintra, near Lisbon, Portugal. Though it seems we have few gardening books in common ... if you discount John Le Carré. Gardening in Cadiz must be quite a strain after Cornwall.

Hi Arco-Iris,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I regularly look at the site for which you provided the link, though mostly for news. I was born in Cornwall and migrated to Australia with my family as an 11 year old hence the interest. I have read some of the Poldark Novels and have seen some of the TV series. Among other things I enjoyed TV series such as Doc Martin and The Wild West. Since I'm also very new to Library thing I haven't added many of my books yet,
