Based on personal experience and family stories Mildred Taylor heard growing up. (1), Cap (Capricorn) lives with his grandmother on a hippie commune. He winds up in a regular school...culture shock (1), Unique situation...the living among the dead in a graveyard. Family (1), Classic Cormier. Tough. Sometimes brutal look at an all boy high school. For mature readers. (1), Excellent fantasy based on the gods of mythology. Fun (1), Free pony to good home! Wonderful story. Easy read. (1), Classic Hinton. Based on people she knew. Rival groups-not really gangs as we know them now-the haves and the have nots clash. (1), Hinton at her best. Rural brothers in very tough times. For all the conflicts Tex faces (1), he has consequences (1), both good and bad. Growing up poor with no parental help. (1), pranks ensue. Growing up 'normal'. (1), I think the best of the three. Easy read. Footnotes hilarious. (1), 'It was a pleasure to burn.' Bradbury was way ahead of his time. May be a realist view of our future! A banned book about banned books. (1), Bradbury WAY ahead of his time. Our future? Colonizing Mars because we've trashed planet Earth! Will anything change? (1), Vietnam. Brutal (1), realistic. What I heard from my friends who were there. Language. Graphic violence. (1), Fantasy/action (1), two points of view with footnotes for lots of humor. A study of prejudice-stereotyping-racism in upper class East coast life. Somewhat predictable. (1), during and after the event. How their lives intertwine over time (1), and how they deal with 9/11. Language and sexual situations. For older teens. Should have some knowledge of what happened that day to make sense of the novel. (1), Charming fairy tale about a mouse who doesn't belong. Trials and tribulations...a princess (1), a nasty rat and a quest! Fun (1), Non-fiction story that reads like fiction. About the Chicago World's Fair of the 1890s. Features the famous architect (1), Holmes. Estimate 200 naive women killed by Holmes. Combines history of the fair (1), Chicago and this nut case on the loose during the Chicago world's fair. It's ALL TRUE! (1), and the serial killer (1), A retelling of Rumplestiltskin. Very interesting slant on the fairy tale. 'Da' is not the ogre from the original (1), UNIQUE way to end the series! I loved the way Shan wrote this! (1), but has a good reason for wanting the miller's daughter's child. Easy read. (1), The world turns out to watch an asteroid hit the moon...with horrible results. The moon falls out of orbit and our world ends as we know it. Written as a journal by a 16 year old girl. (1), Unique look at the 'Manhatten Project'. Parents working on secret weapons...kids point of view along with all the normal growing up issues. Normal struggles in a unique situation. (1), nasty spiders (1), mystery...it's all here.
