About meI read history (British Imperial and American Ante-bellum) at university (University of western Ontario, Queen's University at Kingston, University of Toronto;Saint Micheal's College).
I presently teach in a Life skills class room which I enjoy doing. In my past I have been an Infantry officer in the Canadian Armed Forces an worked in an emergency room.
Anyway I am a member of the Folio Society and enjoy ordering books from Amazon since there are no real bookstores (beyond Chapters) in the city in which I reside. Folio and Amazon give fix on getting books. Every time the book boxes arrive it is like Christmas morning.

About my libraryAt present I have roughly 3 000 books and I may have to get a larger house soon. The concentration of books are history with a smattering of literature (courtesy of Folio as well as some Everyman's Library. I also have a growing collection of Astronomical/Cosmological and Natural history books.

Hi, Barton! If you're looking for second-hand Folios in Toronto, check out the Ten Editions Bookstore (Sussex and Spadina) and the BMV on Bloor (Bloor and Brunswick). The latter has the larger selection, but the prices in Ten Editions are unbeatable--every Folio I got there was priced at 15 CAD, and in excellent condition.

Eliot's (Yonge north of Wellesley) occasionally gets Folios too, but it's more hit-and-miss. He does get other fine editions too, last week or so an entire set of leatherbound Shakespeare from Franklin came in, and a ton of earlier (better quality binding) Franklin Library books too.
And now you understand the major problem in my academic life. ;) Actually, we're down to three bookstores now, as one of our local independents closed. I was sorry to see them go, but the best shop in the neighborhood is still thriving, thankfully.

I'm drooling over your Folios! What a great collection.

Cheers,
Medellia
Took a little peak at your library and found it impressive. I musst come back and check it out again soon and place them on my wish list. I have given my bookstore my library page. They will periodically look to see if they have any of the books on my wish list. I would like to get into more history.

Where the heck do you keep 3,000 books? How many of those do you think you have read? How do you have the catalogued? I would love to sit in your house all day and just go through them.

Okay enough of my dreaming...I was wondering if you would be interested in joining one of my threads. Check it out and let me know what you think.
