About me Some things about me: I...am married to a wonderful man...spend far too much money on books...love my dog...would like to be lazier...have some terrific friends...like my music loud...get irritated by bad grammar...don't like bullies or bigots...never watch soap operas...love Ben and Jerry's ice cream...hate the tv show Big Brother...think that To Kill A Mockingbird is one of the best books ever written....hate raw tomatoes...think that American Psycho is another of the best books ever written...am quite shy in real life...think Homicide: Life On The Street was the best tv show ever...have a crush on Benicio Del Toro...rarely drink alcohol, but occasionally make an exception for a nice glass of red wine...probably should be working...love watching Jeff Bridges' movies

About my library I've only included books that are generally read cover-to-cover. I have several funny reference ones that I dip in and out of, which I have not included on here. Also, any books that I have read more than about 5 years ago, I have not rated, as I plan to try and read them again - at some point!

Hi Ruth,

I challenge you to read A Clockwork Orange because, if you haven't done so already, it's a book you just have to read!

Vicky
Hello to you too, thank you for stopping by. We do share quite a few books don't we? I'll have to take a look at your library in a minute.

I think that is the way with dogs, you say you are a pet owner but anyone who has one knows who's really in charge.

Hope to chat soon and also hope to discover a hidden jem in your library that I have missed, Take care, Jody
Great choice, thanks. We share a lot of books!
I'm challenging you to read Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. It was one of my favourite reads last year and so I hope you enjoy it.
Hi Ruth, I challenge you to read The Conjuror's Bird by Martin Davis. It made it to my top 10 for 2006.
Hi Ruth.. sorry you didn't make it back to the forum.
I was wondering, even if you don't like to post, whether you would like to become one of our reviewers. We now have a blog here.. http://bcfreviews.wordpress.com/ and I'm starting to get some books from authors and publishers, so we're on the look out for more people to join us. Let me know what you think. :)

Just passing and saying hello. We share a few books and are both West Midlanders, so it seemed only polite.

Ann
It's nice to meet you! I look forward to exploring your books.
Hi there, we share Andrea Camilleri, Ian Rankin, Ayn Rand, Alexander McCall Smith and Peter Robinson habits. I had just gotten on LT a few months ago and asked for suggestions and got a bunch of them, which is how I got into Inspector Montalbano. Maybe next time I'll just ask you for advice. great to meet you.
More than a member, I own it.. so get back soon! LOL Hope you had a lovely honeymoon. :)
Just saying hi, as we share a few books. :)
Hiya

Yeh as soon as I asked that question I wondered what I would answer if someone asked me the same thing - as you say hard to know - I do go on recommendations quite a lot and often find myself enjoying books that have won the Orange prize bit it is surprising how much influence a book cover can have!!!....perhaps wrongly so but there you go!

Just picked up Family Matters by Rohinton Mistry to read - how about you?

Do you have a wishlist on bookmooch.com?
I love your tags! "Over-rated", "inferior to his later work", et al...
Hi Ruth,

Yeah I'm surprised as well. I bought it in Bangkok and read it on an overnight train to Chang Mai about 10 years ago and could'nt put it down.

Hi Ruth

I am fairly new to this site so good to hear from you!

So what made you decide to read some of the 83 books we share?

Cheers

Milesy
Hello Ruth,
I have picked up on you through your review of Margaret Atwoods's 'The Robber Bride'(like most Librythingers we have a lot of current fiction in common) this led me to your other reviews and i wanted to tell you I fully agree with your comments on the superiority of 'Lucky' by Margaret Seabold. It struck me as a particularly stunningly honest recount of something quite awful to happen to a young girl. Beyond her ordeal, I was left with a pretty bad mood considering the role of the American legal system in such cases and its determination to win out at any cost. This skewering of where human concern should reach out to help is depressing, as time passes we should be raising our conciousness and to be fair we have, but there is a way to go yet.
best regards,
Freddy.
Too true!!!!
