About meI'm Jenn, a recent graduate from the library science program at IUPUI. I am currently working as a reference librarian in my local public library and a library assistant at my local community college library.

About my libraryI read a lot. I mean a lot. Most of the books I own and have read are not listed here because I can't remember them all. As I wish to become a YA librarian, a good number of the books in my library are Young Adult. I have turned to a few Adult books here lately (maybe now my parents won't make fun of me for reading "kiddie books"), like Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.

I enjoy a good fantasy novel, provided it's not too outrageous, and I've been known to read historical fiction, depending on the time period and location. I like a story that allows me to escape the stress and drama of my everyday life, so I'm generally not too big on realistic fiction. Good characters are a must. Sometimes I will tolerate a less-than-stellar plot if the characters appeal to me.

This is my ratings system:

1 star - Forced myself to finish it or couldn't finish it at all.
2 stars - A mediocre book or one I disliked.
3 stars - A solid book, but nothing I feel very strongly towards one way or another.
4 stars - A book I liked and thought was good and/or one I could see the merit in and know that others would enjoy it.
4.5 stars - Excellent; ultimately a satisfying read.
5 stars - A book that I absolutely loved, would absolutely reread, and just all-around floored me.

Thank you!
Hi Cailiosa,

Quick question, how do you link another user's name on the threads when you reply to them? I tried with the name in brackets but that didn't work so I figured I'd ask you since I've seen you do it a couple of times :)

Hi. I received my SantaThing books today, and wanted to say thank you so much for picking them. I really enjoyed Uglies, and look forward to reading more of Westerfeld's work. Again, thank you, and I hope you have a wonderful year.
>Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore your message on audiobooks - I just saw it >today.

Don't worry about it! Are you enjoying your MLIS program?

>Both The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian and The Bartimaeus >trilogy sound like great audiobooks (and goodness knows I haven't been having >too much luck with those here lately). Bartimaeus might even be better to try >since I haven't read it yet and don't have my version of the character's >voices already in my head.

Wonderful. Let me know what you think. I'm just about to start listening to Heroes of the Valley by Jonathan Stroud (same author as The Bartimaeus trilogy).

>Are you enjoying being a YA librarian?

Yes!!!
I will reply more in-depth soon, but I wanted to invite you to the Attolia group I just started: http://www.librarything.com/groups/theattolianconspirac

No pressure if groups aren't your thing, but I'd love to have you there! :)
Fantastic review of Conspiracy of Kings! :)
Which one? Bartimaeus Trilogy or The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian ?

I love audiobooks! Message me anytime for recommendations. I finished the Library Science grad program from USF (Tampa, FL) last year and I'm a Young Adult Librarian now
: )
ps, i completely agree with you about twilight. there is absolutely no comparison to The Thief, Queen of Attolia, or King of Attolia. there is absolutely no comparison.

Hey,
I read a review you wrote about King of Attolia. I really liked it. It is my favorite book in the series. Actually, to be more specific, it is my favorite fiction book ever written.

Are you waiting for Conspiracy of Kings also? I have been waiting for the last three years when i found the books. i have a terrible confession to make: I didn't like the books when i started reading them. I know. i was an idiot.

Anyway, what are your thoughts?

I love your "I'd rather gouge my eyes out than read this again" collection. I totally agree with your comments on the Twilight saga. I read the first when it came out (before the movie and before anyone knew anything about them) and I thought, meh. The craze now is unbelievable! For such bad writing! And a truly horrible movie! I've been trying to figure out what the big deal is-the ideas are not very original, the writing is mediocre, and yet...oh well.
