Cloudstag cloud, author cloud

About meI'm an evangelical pastor's kid--turned church critic--turned advocate for thoughtful, intentional, compassionate faith.

About my libraryWhen I first set up my library here in 2005 I opted to post Amazon reviews for many of the books that I listed, just for my own interest and for easy reference. Now that I'm actually reviewing books *myself* I'll be removing the Amazon reviews so the two don't get confused.

I found this book helped me to understand many things about my personality. I was a TCK all growing up, and it hasn't stopped as an adult...turning my kids into the same thing. My mother also was a TCK.

This book can be very helpful. It would be great to get something like this in the hands of the military that are always moving their families. It good to have some insight not only into your own actions, but those of other household members also.
I put this book on my list becuase of my experiences going to high school in South America and living in Europe during my college years. Unfortunately, however, I have not yet read the book.
I guess I am a second generation TCK. Was able to travel at a young age, and have lived away from my home country for more than 22 years. Have also raised a family and managed to give my kids a Canadian identity (down to the accent) even though they have rarely been there.

On the whole, I would say the benefits out-weigh the downsides.

Cheers
I got Pollock's books aimming to understand in which circusntances is my daughter growing up. She is just 13 months but have been already in 4 different continents, holds 3 nationalities, etc - a huge gap from my own childhood - but hey, I have just found out she is not alone thanks to his books.
Dana! Glad to see you found this wonderful site of LibraryThing! I love it. -Debi M.
