About meI am a book lover, avid reader, news junkie, addicted to my Nintendo DS and I enjoy traveling where I try to be like Twoflower (The Colour of Magic and The Light Fantastic) but the reality is closer to Carolyn Blue (Crime Brulee, Truffled Feathers, etc…) but without any dead bodies. I always take my towel with me (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy) for its practical and psychological value.
And at all times I strive to live my life with all the dignity and gusto as befits a Queen Tammy (The Sweet Potato Queens’ Book of Love).
About my libraryEclectic but not a hodge podge…I read that somewhere…ok, maybe a bit of a hodge podge.
I have a lot of sci fi/fantasy, biographies, travel books, philosophy, mysteries, science and silly chick lit. Comedy is a common theme in most of my favorite books.
I seldom enter a book store without buying a book. I like to buy local books when I travel. I picked up my first Terry Pratchett book in London, discovered the wonderful Sister Fidelma Celtic mysteries in Galway, and thoroughly enjoyed the native legends by Velma Wallis when in Anchorage.

No chance of my forgetting you. Bummer that Spokane wouldn't work for you.

I read your post in the thread you linked to and I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. It's such a difficult thing to do. But I wish you all the best and hope for all good things for you.
Take care,
Alicia

Looking forward to hearing from the others. Visual images of NYC crumbling are kind of fun.

Thanks for the welcome in the travel group. I'm glad that I could pass on to you my interest in Pico Iyer, he is a wonderful and thoughtful travel writer. If you do get around to reading any of his books I would be interested to know what you think!

Thanks so much for your kind words. It's always rewarding to know that someone reads the reviews. I've been slack in entering them for my reading over the past 6 months or so. I must get back to it.
I can appreciate your thoughts on Hitchhiker's Guide. I enjoyed it but I think it's like many movies that you hear how wonderful they are. When you get around to seeing (in this case, reading) them, it's near impossible to match the hype.
Take care and happy reading! I hope to read your review of Brain Rules sometime soon.
