About meI'm in my final year studying English Literature here in Edinburgh. Well of my undergrad, as I'm hoping to start a postgrad in September. Another way of making myself more qualified and less employable.

I've previously edited the Books section of the uni paper and did a brief stint of working for Canongate but it's just writing for now.

Hi Caroline,

Sorry about late reply, Have'nt checked this thing in a while, I finally got round to applying to Canongate and sent them some book reviews I had done, hoping to hear back from them soon. I'm done exams by may 6th and will probably hang around in Edinburgh over the summer. What are your summer plans?

Ewan
Hi Caroline,

Im interested in getting some more publishing experience before I graduate, Canongate is one of my favourite publishers and was wondering what kind of work you for them.

Ewan
Hi Caroline,

I love writing about books - although as with many of the most enjoyable things, it isn't particularly financially rewarding. I've been a journo (of a sort) since doing the journalism MA at Goldsmiths in 1999/2000... and it's been a bizarre and winding path into the book world since then, I guess. It's always been one of my ambitions, but really I'm only just starting out.
Had I not moved to London I was going to go on a special Akhenaten-themed tour of Egypt (he's the radical Pharoah who invented monotheism; Nefertiti's husband and Tutenkhamun's dad), but the London move took up the funds I was going to use. So, in the absence of Egypt, I'm just going to do my usual split between visiting family, in Manchester, Bucks and Basel, and attending board game meetings (it's not for nothing that I have a BoardGameGeek profile listed on my "Also in" section above). What are you doing with your break?
ha, you were in my list somewhere. greets, Klaas (Buffoon@Bowlie)
Sorry! Glad you found it interesting, however... Good luck with the dissertation!
Given that I'm here, you can see what I chose, having paid my money.

You're doing your postgrad in London, are you? Expensive choice.
Oh, that's very very bad of me: I assumed it was one of the ones I didn't use much that had been overlooked in the updating mayhem.

London is good and bad in just the ways you'd expect it to be. Good: rich cultural life; more people and especially more young people around (unlike Bollington). Bad: hideous expense, especially property; obnoxious people. You pay your money and you take your choice.
No, I left Bollington about four months ago for the bright lights of London. More fool me, I know. But lovely as Bollington is - and it is exceedingly lovely - it's just a mite quiet.

Which of my sites did you get that info from? I shall update it forthwith.
