About me I'm 34, living in Georgia with my husband, Mike and three cats, Jack, Mina and Mojo. I'm originally from Newfoundland, Canada but have travelled quite a bit and ended up in the US where I met my husband. I'm an avid reader and writer, and also enjoy outdoorsy-type things like camping, geocaching and hiking. I have a severe case of wanderlust and love to travel. I'm actively involved in BookCrossing and I keep a book blog called A Life in Books where I keep track of what books I've been reading and other assorted book-related musings. My husband and I recently started a website called Bookwormz that locates independent bookstores throughout the US via a user-supported database. I also work at a public library, so between one thing or another, I'm pretty much surrounded by books 24/7 - and that's just the way I like it!

About my library It's a rather eclectic mix of classic literature, modern fiction, YA and children's fiction, history, travel, religion and spirituality, and other assorted nonfiction. Thanks to BookCrossing and having worked at a library, I'm trying to be more selective about what stays on my shelves, but I usually just end up buying more books. I don't list anything that I have set aside for BookCrossing (currently over 800 titles registered), as those books aren't in my possession for long.

Lesley,

I was just skimming your blog. Gosh, do you read a lot!!!! I'm going to email you soon, I promise. I hope Mike is enjoying his new job and things are going well with you.

Julie
Cinnamon-Girl.....your site Bookwormz is excellent! I just added a bookstore in St. Petersburg Florida. I've travelled & lived all over the United States and know of many independent bookstores. I'm so looking forward to posting them!!

I think that more LTers should know about your site. Perhaps you should start a new group?

Whatever you decide, please let me know - and I'm more than glad to help spread the news!

Many thanks to you and Mike.
Hi :-) Just wanted to pop in after a long time and say a quick hello. I still haven't read the copy of Stardust you so kindly gave me. I don't know why- I just haven't been in a fairy tale mood, I suppose. But hopefully I'll read it in 2007 some time! We still share an excellent assortment of books. And I lurk on your blog quite regularly so I can be sure of seeing reviews for ones I haven't read yet. I hope you have a great new year!
I did like Eggers book. I read it for a bookclub. I was the only one that liked it, as they thought it read like a blog. I liked the writing style, it was different. When they compared it to blogging, it sparked an interest in blogging for me. I didn't even know what a blog was until that bookclub discussion.
Hi Lesley,

Just hopped on while the website name was fresh in my mind. On the way home I received a call from the babysitter and Megan is sick, so much for quiet time. I can't wait to explore this site and your site more.

See ya later

Cinn. girl..at work today talking about this wonderful website and bookwormz...the owners of the book shop where I work also started the talk radio program The Book Report a few months ago...they have the bookwormz website on their webpage. The world is really small. good luck to you on your endeavors. the girls at Windows a bookshop.
I also thought {The Time Traveler's Wife] was one of the best of 2005..I listened to the audio. I lost a husband at at 25 and this book had me really thinking...I wish he could pop in and visit with two boys. BJ
cinnamon girl..I see we do share some great books. I did not like [Brick Lane] by Monica Aly and most people loved it. Did you? I loved [The Poisonwood Bible] and many did not like it either. I just started [The Memory Keeper's Daughter] and so far I am hooked. Have a good evening. Betty Jo
Hi Cinnamon,
So glad you accepted the UU Readers invite! I hope the group thrives.

My pleasure! I'm glad to have you join the Donne group.
I do love Terry Pratchett! Though I haven't read Good Omens yet. And Stardust has been on my wish list for quite some time. Eventually, I'll get it. I hope :-)
By the way, I love your website bookwormz! I typed in my ZIP code and my absolute favorite used bookstore came up! I added another one in there, too. What a great site- I'm bookmarking it, much to my sister's chagrin :-)
Yes, I did enjoy Never Let Me Go, though I think the climax could have been better done. It's written in very simple prose, and the audiobook version of it I had really captured my interest. I'm excited to read The Remains of the Day- some time :-)

It looks like we have a lot of books in common! I'm reading American Gods right now- have you read it? I like it a lot so far- the idea behind it is really fascinating!
Yes, I have read the sequel and it does leave some room for a trilogy. I sure hope Maguire doesn't wait 10 years to do it. It was not as good as Wicked, but definitly worth reading. Let me know what you think ~
I see we are both Maguire fans. Nothing will ever beat Wicked. Do you think he plans to make it a trilogy? I'd be interested in your thoughts.
I just discovered your blog and am happily reading the archives. I'm a courtly lover of books, too! We should have a support group; all of my friends think I'm a nut for caring about condition so much. Bookwormz is such a great idea, too. :)
Did you figure out where Maugham got his title for "Moon and Sixpence"?

I've been to Nfld, back in 1970 I think, doing mineral exploration. Lovely people. One of my teachers if Jr. High was Newfie and he was very nice.
