Use the old design

The old design is no longer fully supported nor does it get full attention when we roll out new features. We strongly recommend using the new design.

About meClassifyThis is a group of four Pratt School of Information and Library Science graduate students interested in classification.

ClassifyThis is enthusiastic about joining the discussion and helping to develop the Open Shelves Classification System.

We've spent the last four weeks investigating and analyzing the BISAC, Dewey Decimal System, Library of Congress, and Universal Decimal classification schemes. We also used the Online Public Access Catalogs of the Brooklyn Public Library, the Pratt Library and the Brand Library and Art Center as resources along with the tag clusters in LibraryThing and Amazon’s subject headings. ClassifyThis has also been keeping up with the activities of the OSC by reading the forums.

Finally, ClassifyThis is ready to present our 2nd level suggestions for the top levels of Art, Design and Science.

We are eager to participate in the Art, Design and Science forums, anticipating lively discussion and insightful feedback from the OSC members.

ClassifyThis’s goal is to not only assist in the development of the second levels for Art, Design and Science, but to also observe and comment on the dynamic process of building a crowd-sourced, collaborative classification system that will more efficiently and progressively serve public library collections in this country.
