The Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre is dedicated to telling the stories of our mountains and our communities for present and future generations.
To enrich and inspire both residents and visitors through discovery and learning about the mountains and the heritage of Canmore and region.
The Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre acts as the custodian of the Town of Canmore’s heritage, maintaining and preserving its artifacts, archives and built heritage and interprets this heritage through exhibitions and interpretative programming for residents and visitors on a year round basis.
The Canmore Museum and Geoscience Centre acts as a repository of select geological collections and provides the general public, students and geoscience professional a wide range of exhibits, educational programs and interpretative services on the outstanding geology of the surrounding mountains on a year round basis.
To educate through community outreach programs with school children and adults.
To partner with and support local organizations, businesses and activities.
To sustain the Museum financially through fund raising, merchandising, grants, endowments and planned giving.
To celebrate the rich history of the Canmore region through such public events as Miner’s Day.
To become a prime tourist destination.
