About my libraryHISTORY
The Parish library is based on the donation of books from the library of the late John Meiklejohn. He was the Caversham Church organist. His book collection was gifted to the parish after his death. The books are mostly on theology and church history. The Meiklejohn donation is housed at the Caversham Church. It has recently been suplemented by a donation from the Rev. Geoffrey Vine. There are a large numbers of books on the Bible and devotional literature held at the three Worship centres of the Coastal Unity Parish. These collections have accumulated over the years. Inaddition there are the working libraries of the three ministers of the parish. The parish would be most gratful for any donation of either books or money to enhance the size and value of the book collection.
The library will have separate collections at the 3 worship centres of the parish. The main collection at Caversham Church is held in the St Andrew Lounge. There will be separate collections for the items held in the offices of the parish ministers. Within the collections books will be arranged in Dewey classification order. There will be separate sequences for over size books and double oversize books. The books ranging up to 23 cm. in height will be in the normal sequence. The books ranging from 23 to 28 cm in height will be in the over size sequences and books over 28 cm. in height will be in the double over size sequence. The over size sequence will be marked with a single cross + and the double oversize sequence will have two crosses ++
Membership is open to all members of the parish plus the adherents of the Presbyterian Church
