Tags I use:

'fiction'/ 'non-fiction': Fiction is purely for novels and short-stories. Stuff like guides about imaginary things, I put in non-fiction.

'new' - new purchases are tagged 'new' to separate them from old stuff that I'm just cataloging. Use this RSS feed to see what I'm buying.

'recently read' - What I've been reading. "recently" is not really well defined but I guess I'll start removing those tags in a year or so. I also use the 'date read' field for sorting but I don't think it's possible to get the RSS feed to be sorted by that.

'currently reading' - I make no promises that I'll always keep that updated.

'unread' - Books I haven't read yet or books I'll probably never read ;)
