About meHaving always been a devoted bookworm since I can first remember, I have never been parted from a book. Due to the loving efforts of my mother, at a very young age I acquired a love for all literature. As I grew older I began to develop an interest in writing which my mother kindly assisted me in. Now, as a teenager, I find that my main hobbies are reading and writing. I prefer to read fictional novels and my favourite genres (in order) are fantasy, drama, horror, thrillers, mysteries, and the occasional comedy. My humble book collection is currently into the hundreds although I desire to someday build a library with thousands of books. I typically read upwards from four to ten books at a time depending on their length and genre. I have a dislike of paperbacks, although I will tolerate them if no other edition is available but I dream of seeing a sea of leather bounds in my future library.
There is nothing quite like a book. It takes the reader to new and different worlds, it comforts and enthralls. The very feeling of lifting a cherished volume and gathering a cozy kitty and a cup of steaming coffee to indulge in a few hours of unmitigated wandering in the realms of imagination is a feeling like no other. We, the devoted public of bibliophiles are the only ones who can understand this special aura that surrounds a novel as it daintily perches on a shelf in a favourite book store, eagerly anticipating that extraordinary individual who will find it and be drawn to its siren call. This love of literature has induced me to major in English when I leave for college in three months to pursue an education that will enable me to become a librarian and perhaps in some far distant future pen a novel of my own.
My favourite novels (in no particular order) are anything by Dragonlance or Ravenloft, David Copperfield, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, The Thing, Memoirs of a Geisha, Vanity Fair, Flowers in the Attic, most novels written by L.M. Montgomery, The Lovely Bones, Light on Snow, Chocolate Chip Cookie Murder, and numerous other titles. The list of favourites is always growing.
