About meRight Brain: I have an MFA (1995) in writing from Sarah Lawrence College and am published in American Literary Review, Prairie Schooner, Beloit Poetry Journal, New Letters, Italian Americana, and Glimmer Train, among others. I've received poetry and short story prizes from American Literary Review, the Center of Texas Studies, and the Glimmer Train. All this has been sooooo long ago. I'm trying to begin writing again after an long absence (See "Left Brain" below.) I am proficient at reading Latin but have significant troubles figuring out how to check my voice mail messages.

Left Brain: J.D. (2004) from The University of Texas School of Law. I practice business bankruptcy law (Are you still reading this?) in San Antonio, Texas.

I have a wonderful husband, 3 dogs, 2 cats and 5 koi. The first six answer to their names.

About my libraryI'm a picky reader. The books I love, I love intensely.

I've included books that I read and didn't like, as that's worth discussing too. Isn't it?

I'm trying to read more fiction, as my diet tends to be poetry and non-fiction.

Thanks, glad you liked it. And yes, that poem is one of those gifts that you just thank the muse for.
Hi Debra,
welcome to LibraryThing!
We do share an interesting mix of books – looking through the shared list, I have to restrain myself from saying "ooh, have you tried [insert title at random]"?
But hey, that's one of the best things about this place. So – have you read Li-Young Lee's latest book, "Behind My Eyes"?
Cheers,
Joanna
I see that we have much in common. Is Mark Doty still teaching at Sarah Lawrence? We went to school together (Drake U., back when I was skinny and he was married to a woman)--if he is, tell him hello from me. I'm writing less poetry and more criticism these days, as well as narrative journalism, but still get my daily poetry fix.
Best,

Kel Munger
'The Zero' was a very weird novel - glad you liked my review. I agree with your comment about the standard of LT reviewers. I reckon LT reviewers are more honest than most other reviewers - there are no expectations on us and we can be really upfront about what we think. I haven't visited Scrabulous yet - I play in some tourneys through Pixiepit. Thanks for the heads up. I'll wander on over there and have a look.
Debra,

Your new addition sounds wonderful. I love the name Dewey. I grew up with larger dogs, but also fell in love with toy breeds later. We have a hound-terrier mutt and three toy poodles.

So glad that you've started writing again! I can never stay away from poetry for very long.

Jayne
Hi Debra,

Thanks so much for saying hello! My career in mental health took me away from writing as much as I would have liked, too, but I eventually returned to it.

What genre do you write? Are you working on your own or do you prefer workshops?

Happy reading!

Jayne
