With all these Haiti books you might get a kick out of William Seabrook's The Magic Island. Its a product of its time, so its as much a document of a white American of the 1920s as it is of the Haiti of the time. Really well written fun book. The illustration style (which was probably considered daringly primitive) may offend some of today's sensibilities.
