About meDaniel teaches a variety of writing courses at a small college in Northeast Florida. An Oregonian now living in Duval County, he is an avid long-distance runner and outdoorsman. His stories have appeared in Redstone Science Fiction, Brain Harvest, Well Told Tales, Leading Edge, Dead but Dreaming 2, Something Wicked and Weber: The Contemporary West. Many of his stories, which are heavily influenced by regional history and local folklore, have been collected in These Strange Worlds: Fourteen Dark Tales and The Silver Coast and Other Stories. Daniel shares a small house near the Intracoastal Waterway with his wife, Jeanne, and his daughter, Lyla. He maintains a web journal on speculative storytelling at

About my libraryI read widely in the speculative genres, but horror stories are my passion. Most of the horror books in my library are either classical tropes or examples of mundane horror. I don't read much splatterpunk or gore, and I've never had much of an affinity for vampire tales. I like subtle, weird fiction with a healthy focus on atmosphere and conflict. I'm also a big fan of regional folklore and mythology.

I enjoy collecting physical books, but I've almost exclusively begun reading e-books in the last two years.
