Hi, I just joined this site. I noticed that you're a poetry fan. Have you read Unexpected Light? Here's a link: http://www.cechaffin.com

David, Leodora & Polar Bear, I was delighted to be able to read Danny Gospel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately, just as I finished it, we had some unwanted excitement around here and I didn't get to write my review right away. This, however, gives me the opportunity to reread it (since I don't trust my memory to get everything right) before I write my review.
Hi Linda,

Yes, I love Library Thing, one of the more brilliant sites on the web. I read the amazing Don Quixote, or should I say went adventuring with him, in 1992 in Coralville, Iowa. I couldn't say for certain how Don Quixote influenced Danny Gospel, because the connections were not consciously drawn, and yet I can see them, the faintly shimmering quixotic lines criss-crossing through Danny's life.

Let me know what you see.

Blessings,

David
David, Ah, so you bit the bullet and got an LT account. Good for you! I'm about 1/3 of the way through my ER copy of "Danny Gospel." You had mentioned in your email to me that you almost called it "Danny Quixote" (I'm the person who had the "Don Quixote" quote as an email signature), and I'm curious about that. I assume you've read "Don Quixote." How did that book directly influence "Danny Gospel", because I'm seeing very strong parallels. - Linda
