About meI am a freelance archaeologist specializing in the medieval period. I used to work for the Museum of London, but now teach archaeology and run archaeological study tours in Europe.

I am the author and tutor for the University of Oxford online course “Vikings: Raiders, Traders and Settlers ”, and I am the director of the "Oxford Experience” summer school.

I also run the “Archaeology in Europe Weblog”, which reports news about European archaeology, and three specialist blogs: “The Anglo-Saxon Archaeology Blog”, “The Viking Archaeology Blog” and “The Medieval Warfare Blog”.

About my libraryAs you might expect, the bulk of my library consists of books on archaeology!

Welcome to LibraryThing.

Fascinating, enviable career you have. My mother once told me that had she been born a generation later, she would've pursued college and a job in archaeology. She's undoubtedly the source of my own love for history (one of the tags I watch via my home page, which is how you popped up on my radar). I have a part-time/seasonal job as costumed interpreter at a living history museum covering roughly 1840-1915 in Wisconsin's (USA) frontier and immigrant history. I get to cook on woodstoves, churn butter, make soap, garden, etc. Love it. Nowhere near the age of the history you experience, though.

So far no books in common. May change as I enter all my titles -- or maybe your library will affect my future book purchases....
