About meGrandmother to a wonderful little girl who already loves to "read" at age 2+. I hope she never loses this love of books.

I have been looking at the average ratings and reading a few reviews as I have been entering books, and I find that the average rating is pretty accurate (IMHO). As for the reviews I've read, the "bad" reviews usually have what I consider valid points, but the things that bothered those reviewers did not bother me as much. If you take the "good" and "bad" reviews together, you usually have the truth of the book.

I did a calculation based on what I have entered so far, and my (very rough) average of books read/year during my reading years is about 14. (My "reading years" start at about 8, when I started going to the library by myself.) There were a few years I read very little, if anything, to the point of it affecting my ability to spell correctly. I am currently reading 2-4 books/month.

About my libraryA mixture of my library and my husband's. We have, in some cases, similar reading tastes. (We have culled most of our duplicates by now.) I have included in "my" library those of his books that I like or plan to read.

My library is somewhat eclectic, but with a half-dozen types that I like to read: Historical fiction, autobiographies and memoirs, classics, science fiction, mystery, and a little bit of fantasy and horror. I have a weakness for books with lots of photographs, too (often known as "coffee table books").

My "To Read" list is for books that I don't own. Any books that I own but haven't read can also be considered to be part of my "To Read" list.
