About meYes ... I'm a doctor, no ... I'm not a medic ... I'm a teacher (amongst other things). I have a PhD in chemistry but after uni I worked in the computing/IT industry for about 15 years before leaving on the crest of a wave to spend more time with my family. I was then drawn into teaching through voluntary work. I trained as a science teacher here in London. Mainly I teach science and mathematics as well as things such as anger management, stress management (incorporating NLP)and, occasionally, yoga. A few years ago my previously analytical, single track mind bubbled through some kind of midlife adventure to become interested in philosophy, spirituality, psychology and the apparent interconnectedness of things. It's left me curious about how we can access or relate to the world through different frameworks of thinking, from logic to intuition with emotion and creativity plugged in somehow. That curiosity is reflected in my work looking at 'Learning to Learn' and an International Baccalaureate 'Theory of Knowledge' course which I've started to develop.

About my library'Library' sounds a bit too organised for my collection of books... I'm not a quick reader and rarely read non-fiction books cover to cover. Chemistry and biochemistry books are largely from university days; computers, networking and finance industry from my first career and teaching from my second career. Layered on top are fiction (where I enjoy mainly science fiction and detective stories). Other interests are evident from my tag cloud. The main growth area in the collection at the moment is a sub-collection to support Theory Of Knowledge, a course I am developing for the International Baccalaureate to be taught from September 2009. As I write this, I'm up to about 700 books. I'm estimating that the collection will plateau at about 1000.

According to this website you have the book 'Matryona's House and Other Stories' by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. I hope to take Russian at A-level next year and would like to acquire this translation of one of my set books. I have searched various bookshops and find that the edition is out of print so I was wondering if you would sell or loan me the book. I can be contacted on ToniKroger@aol.com or 01229-827439
Hope you're having fun teaching TOK! Maybe we should start a TOK group in LT.
