About meI feel about 40 or 45(tho actually 74).
9-24-09 I was born and raised a Roman Catholic. I attended church faithfully and went to Mass and confession regularly until I was 24, then decided I no longer could accept any part of it. I had been a theist as long as I could. I quickly went from Theist to Deist, to Pantheist, to Agnostic, to Atheist. Finally, I reached a point beyond Atheism. Whether or not God existed simply had no relevance to my life.
So, how do I live without a god or two?
I am an evolutionalist. I recognize science has shown we have all developed through thousands of generations from less developed primates who could not stand upright, and before that from even more primitive animals, generally in the manner described by Charles Darwin.
I am also an existentionalist. I owe my existence to my mother and father and to no other magical being. I think and feel therefore I know that I exist. I will struggle to exist until I no longer have the ability to do so. Then I will die and existence for me and my mind will be over. Period.
Merely to exist, tho, would be boring and meaningless to me so I use the oldest social rule, and likely the first: "Treat others as you would like them to treat you" as a basis for my life. I treat others as I would like to be treated."
Anything else? ,,,,Look for JOY! In these troubled times it may be difficult to find, but keep looking and you'll find it...
About my libraryMy library is an eclectic collection of a few thousand books, in five places: on proper shelves in the house, in a garage about ten miles away, in the basement, in a storage shed and in an old Dodge van. I can put my finger on most books I want. They are on the shelves by subject; Science and evolution, astronomy,History and human anthropology, biography, philosophy and Slovenia(history, poetry and novels).
