I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply! My computer died on me a couple of weeks ago and long story, but I bought a new one last week, so I'm back, baby!!!
Your Ferlinghetti stories are superb. You could write about that, you know! BTW, do you read Poets & Writers magazine? He is in the latest, gracing the cover. I can't wait to read it -- just got it today.
I lived near The Buk in San Pedro (I was in Long Beach). I had his address, because we wrote each other. That's how I wound up with several autographed books and a t-shirt of his. Anyway, I used to drive over to his house and camp out, hoping to see the old man. I pussied out as far as knocking on the door, knowing how much he hated that. Never saw him, and now I really regret not having gone on to his front door after all.
Well, I could write more, but it's 2:35 am and I'm tired. You're right, though. It's rare, and might I say a privilege, to run across someone like yourself online. We should be at a bar someone, tipping a couple back and swapping war stories! Anyway, cheers!

Ferlinghetti was MY initial inspiration to write also!!! I got to meet him in January of 1994 and it was a real pleasure, and totally unexpected too.
I didn't know that goth rock book had become rare. I just went to Amazon, where I bought it 2-3 years ago, and you're right -- they are selling it for over $90! Craziness. But it is a good book, quite comprehensive.
I take it you've seen Ferlinghetti read? I saw Diane di Prima read once and missed out on a Ginsberg reading in L.A., which I've kicked myself for more than once.

I see you've got some San Francisco poets such as Ferlighetti and Rexroth in your collection. Have you read Kenneth Patchen? You might like him too....
