About my libraryMy library includes many books on a particular topic of interest to me (for example, the history of China and New York's Chinatown, paleontology, etc.), as well as an eclectic mix -- from a volume of the "Sweet Dreams" series for young teens to "Remembrance of Things Past"; from "Critical Theory Since Plato" to "Teach Me Hockey"; and from classic tales for children to a late 19th century volume on Taxidermy from the Library of the Alabama Insane Asylum.
Since I worked in publishing from 1985 to 1988, I also have a slew of books I got for free rather than out of a passionate interest in their subject matter. While I haven't read many of these, I do go back and pick one up from time to time and often get a wonderful surprise at how much I enjoy it.
Since I also relish books simply as objects, I have volumes in my collection that I look at, but in all likelihood I'll never read. Motivated by that love of books in and of themselves, I've labored to have an image for each book in my library, whether I scanned it myself or used an image uploaded by other Library Thing members. Thanks to all of you book-scanners, your work made entering my library much less time-consuming!
Now that I have all my books cataloged in Library Thing, I'm starting on the process of writing reviews. This will take a while, especially as my collection just seems to keep growing...
