About mePrince Eugene of Savoy (Paris, 18 October 1663 – Vienna, 21 April 1736) was one of history's greatest military commanders. Born a Frenchman of Italian heritage, he served three Habsburg Emperors, fighting against the Ottomans and Louis XIV. The wealth acquired through success on the battlefield, he invested in building palaces and collecting art, exotic animals and books.
About my library After Eugene's death, Habsburg Emperor Charles VI. acquired the library, the Bibliotheca Eugeniana, with its more than 15.000 printed volumes, 287 manuscripts and large holdings of art. The collection, exhibited in the Ceremonial Hall, forms the core of the Austrian National Library. The individual volumes are bound in blue, red and yellow morocco leather, according to subject. This LT Legacy library will attempt to reconstitute the bibliographic information of the 15.000 print volumes of the library.
