Thank you very much, Anita! Sending hugs back to all!
Happy Thingaversary, Anita (and Frank)! Have fun bringing more books into your home! (And kiss Ari and Chimay from me.)
ANITA!!! That is *the*best*news*ever!!!

So so so so happy to learn this before the Solstice Celebrations. Now I can give a hearty and happy thanks for another wonderful event.

See you in 2014!
Boo hiss on the reading issue, but...a big, big "but"...if that means your depression is under control, then everything else is okay! A lot of ear-schmoozling to Ari and Chimay, and hello to Frank,
RMD
In happy hopes that 2014 will bring ever greater pleasures to your reading world, Anita:

Celebrate the return of the light with feasts, merriment, and gratitude for all the wonders of this wide green earth.

I think of you often. How lovely to hear from you. You are missed!
hi Anita
Yes, I did enjoy Crusade in Jeans very much. it took a long time to track down a copy. hope all is well with you. I'm currently on holiday in Spain, and have a bad Internet connection! Also using an iPad which is more difficult. For typing. the book uncovered a little known corner of history for me.

Kerry
Hey Girl!! Was just looking for the threads I'm hoping to visit on occassion this year and didn't find one for you. Hope you plan to join us and are set up soon.

Thinking of you and hoping you are all well.

Anita

Thanks for sending positive energy Thursday, August 23rd. I'll be under anesthesia for six hours and I'm very apprehensive about that.

Much Love
How are you feeling today?
I'm facing multiple neck fusion surgery next Thursday, August 23rd. Please send up a prayer.

Thank goodness the attack has gone!

I suspect the connection with Rheumatoid arthritis is in the fact both are autoimmune diseases. I will be glad to offer any information I have if and when y'all need it.

Sending hugs and also a smooch to the pooches

I left this message on my thread, dear one, and will leave it here to be sure you see it.

>127 Oh my dear Anita! I am sad for myself, of course, but I'm *heartbroken* for you that the new medication interferes with your reading! It is a cruel cure that makes life's pleasures recede out of reach.

Come back soon. I will miss you. I know others will as well.

Hugs and love
RMD
I read about your medication issue on Richard's thread and am so sorry that it prevents you from reading. I hope to see you back on the threads soon.

karenmarie
I am very sorry to hear of this development where your medication causes such unwanted side effects. I will hold you in my heart, and sincerely hope this will be reversed. I know not reading is a terrible price to pay for the benefit the medication provides!

Be strong, and gain health as soon as possible!

Karen

what! no leaving! terrible!
I am so sorry.. isn't there a work around?
somehow? change the meds? something?

Anita,

It saddens me that you are feeling so poorly that you must give up reading since it obviously is something that you enjoy. I will keep you in my prayers so that hopefully you will be feeling better soon and can rejoin us in an activity that is special to us all.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to make you feel better.

Cheli
Anita, I had good intentions as far as a stress-free Sunday, but it didn't quite work out. I've posted a haiku about it.
Anita, thanks for leaving your thoughtful message to me the other day, and sorry it took me so long to get back to you. What you suggest would definitely help explain why I blew up the way I did on that particular day. I'll have to be careful on Monday evenings for the next 7 weeks while I'm forced to attend class with that annoying woman! :-)

Take care,

Ilana
Lilly is a hand full...lots of energy...lots of health..lots of affection.

How are you feeling? How is Frank?

HI Anita

Here is a link that Kath sent to me regarding a discussion of YA

I am glad you were able to extract my meaning from my clumsy words. I was laughing when writing that definition of "high woo", too.
Hi again!

Thank you so much, that was precisely the info I needed. I have now successfully replicated my ticker.

Take care!

Eph.
Hi Anita!

Thanks for your message about the ticker. I understood that it could be replicated somehow, but HOW? When you say to "copy and paste" do you mean to copy and paste the URL and add the link as with any other URL?

Eph.
sending love you way and wanting you to know I'm thinking of you and Frank.

Thanks for the heads-up on Sutcliff! Appreciate it, Anita. :) I'll give her a try.
Anita

I'm so sorry for your loss. Please tell Frank I'm thinking of him.

I send love
Ah, Anita...How very nice to receive such a kind message.

You are so special.

I'm still very sad and I know you understand this feeling. The loss of a pet kicks you in the stomach.

How are you feeling? How is Frank?

Love you lots,
Linda
just a note to say I'm thinking of you today
Anita

Thank you ever so much! Your image brought tears to my eyes. I cannot thank you enough for the lovely image of Simon with wings.

I know you lost a dear pet last year. You know how this feels.

I love you dearly
'Hoi' again Anita! I think I mentioned, some time ago, that my eldest (7-year-old Kidlet) is scared of dogs. This evening, walking home from school, we met a friendly neighbor who, it turns out, has a very old, very 'child-proof' dog (she has 3 children who, it would appear, have poked this poor, poor animal until it is completely 'child-proof'!) BOTH of my kids patted and stroked this dog. This amazed (and thrilled) me because Kidlet has a tendency to run out into a road full of traffic rather than 'face' a dog. Kidlet was soooooo very proud of herself for having stroked this dog ("My first dog friend ever!") We can but hope that the 'dog fear' has lessened somewhat now!
Bless you Anita! I really wasn't planning on joining the 75 book challenge this year but, as a result of your kind message, I am now a member! I had a bad year last year (family deaths, problems with the children, etc. etc.) but your message inspired me to read (and log) more books in 2012. Kisses and hugs. Linda xoxoxox

Dear Friend Anita

I am so sorry to be out of touch. The pain level is high and the energy is low. But, I hope you know that I think of you and send lots of love.

Linda

Thanks Anita
I've missed you. I'm having a difficult time controlling the pain in my neck and back and haven't had the energy to post alot on LT.

Oh, what a lovely, lovely dog!
Simply want to say what a kind, wonderful soul you are!
Vriendelijke groet, Leo
Thinking of you and hoping you get the rest you need after the dog show.

loved the photos of the flowers...and the dogs. You are so very talented!
thank you!
Brilliant. Thank you!
May I use this on the blog, referring of course to who did all the work!

Anita
Will wants to know your opinion of Geert Wilders.

He is curious regarding what people in your country think of him.

----------------------------

I'm also wondering how you are doing.

Hugs to you

Thanks!! That is so weird, I am in the middle of posting a hello on your new thread!
see http://wp.me/p42Yg-7d Thanks for the help! Maybe tell any contacts who you know enjoy Rosemary Sutcliff's work of the blog and they can help too?!
Anthony
I have posted stuff about the award at http://wp.me/p42Yg-73 which is on the Rosemary Sutcliff website I am developing, or rather the blog about her. I hope this is OK?
Anthony
Thanks for the message about the award which I knew nothing of. I looked it up and then put the Dutch text from Wikipedia into the Google translator. I was amused as I was enlightened by the translation:
QUOTE
The Silver Griffel belongs to the Golden Granger to the major literary prizes for Dutch literature.
He is every year since 1971 during the Dutch Children's awarded by the CPNB for the best written children's books are published in the previous year. From 1954 to 1970 was only an annual book award, the Children of the year. Since then able crayons in multiple categories and multiple authors to be awarded.
While the Golden pencil only original Dutch work is eligible, the Silver Granger also be granted to translations. In addition, there are Gold and Silver Brushes offered for the best illustrated children's books since 1997 and Gold and Silver Kiss, the best books for children over 12 years.
END QUOTE
thanks so much
may I re-post this at www.rosemarysutcliff.wordpress.com?
All the best
Anthony Lawton
I'm glad you rec'd. the books and that you enjoyed Number the Stars. Lowry is an incredible writer.
Rather than clogging up your thread, Anita, I'll just stop by here to wish you a very Happy Birthday!

Terri
Anita

I'll send the book to you.

Hugs and Love
I saw your post on the Newbery challenge group. I gave up on this group because it was not as active as I hoped.

I'm writing to say that I have a number of Newbery books obtained from my library on sale.

If there are some that you don't have and I might have, I'll be happy to send a copy to you. Simply let me know which one(s) you want.

Hugs
Linda
good searching....but....maggiee is not me. I am maggie1944 and live near Seattle. maggiee lives in Chicago.

close one! Thanks for your efforts.
Hi Anita, thanks for you comment. I see you are from the Netherlands. My Roorda family is from Friesland--my grandfather left there in about 1900, but many of the family remain. I'm really looking forward to this group!

Becky
Anita, what does YA stand for? Is this a dumb question?
Hallo Anita,

Ik wens jou ook een voorspoedig 2010! En hoop weer veel posts van je te lezen.

- boekenwijs -
So great to hear from you Anita!

I send lots of love and good wishes for a warm, bright and peaceful holiday.

Linda
Hi Anita

I'm stopping by to say I'm thinking of you and sending all good wishes for a wonderful holiday.

Love
Linda
Wow! lovely that you found a copy of Frontier Wolf. I wish you luck with the last one.
Anita,

Have you read McCaffrey? I was 16 or so when I first read her. http://www.librarything.com/work/3391052 is the book I started with :)
I am so sorry about your dog and pup! Such heartache. I still miss my dog we had to put down in 1985 or so...

We had a cat go awol. (away without leave, i.e., missing) He's been seen since (no where close to home), so it's nice to know he didn't immediately get run over on our busy street or the other one he crossed to get where he was. Maybe he'll come home when the snow comes.

I saw an extended Kangoo somebody turned into a camping car. I really like the Kangoo. Hope you're loving your Logan. Did you read Lloyd Alexander's Book of Three? I'd need something like that when I'm feeling as I would be in your situation. Had a small disappointment last week and retreated to Donaldson's Mirror of Her Dreams. Really excellent fantasy IMO.

I do believe we say luxurious or luscious ... but with living in Europe in non-english speaking countries the past 10 years I no longer know my own language! LOL

Cheers -- bless you guys.

Susan
Thanks for stopping by! Stephane was glad you like the car -- it's very reliable. That's what we've been driving for the past 2 years too. Ours is light grey :) Yeah it's not really a bells & whistles kind of car (at least our model isn't), but it really does the job!

Cheers :) Hope you and your fam are doing great (counting the sweet pups as family :)

xox
Susan
Missing you and hoping you are ok.

Happy Easter Anita

I hope you are having a lovely day.

I recently read a book classified as YA that you might like. Alice Hoffman is one of my favorite authors. The book title is Green Angel.

Ok, Anita, I checked the site. I'll take seven puppies, fed express!

They are incredibly beautiful... I love the tiny little eyes, open to the world. Frank looks ever so happy holding them.
darker? Thanks for the warning.
I'll read the book and let you know my impressions. I'm sure I'll like it. I trust your judgment regarding Almond's books. You are usually right on target.

Anita
When I went to the library last week, I obtained a copy of Clay. I hope to read it tonight.

Anita
I'm simply checking in to see how you are today.

Linda
AMEN!!!
This is great, good news!

I hope you get some rest.

Hugs to you and to the precious little puppies!
Anita

Will you be delivering the puppies, or will you take Chimay to a vet? I've only experienced puppy birth once and my bichon had a very difficult time and we took her to the vet pronto.

Anita
I know you like YA books. I just finished Kira-Kira..A book I highly recommend.
How are you?
How is Chimay?
The pups should be born next week? right?
Anita

I cannot wait to see the photos of the new puppies. I eagerly await their arrival. I assume you and your husband are breeders and sell the puppies to good homes. I would find that line of work fascinating. But, I imagine it would be hard to let the puppies go once you have loved them for six - eight weeks.

I hope your weekend is a good one.

You can check out Lake Woebegone et al here: http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/

Even the name is a joke: Woe (sadness, sad times, evil things) begone (old english for 'be gone')

very droll.
Hi Fam
My apologies for not providing clarity regarding The Velveteen Rabbit. I'm sorry. Basically, as I understood the book, it wasn't until the rabbit was worn and torn that he became "real."

Take care.

I enjoy our communications.

Fondly,
Linda
The pond idea is intriguing--I think I'll try something like it, see what happens. I'll let you know what happens.

Fred assumes that pose all the time, so it's very easy to photograph him. :-) He's a dog who loves his comfort.

Joyce
And I love your dogs!

Joyce
How did you manage to do a POND in a large pt?? What a clever idea!

Joyce
I wouldn't think of being in the area and NOT letting you know! Count on it :)
Thought I'd move this here rather than on your thread -- I have friends in Utrecht, Den Haag, Haarlem, Amstelveen, Rotterdam, Ruinen (north of Zwolle) and though they've moved now, have visited friends in Arnem (that looks wrong... Arnam? I want an 'h' in there for some reason...) and Eindhoven as well. I love Holland :)
Anita,

I am so glad they got there! And early to boot! Happy early birthday!!

Stasia
Anita,

i was thinking of setting up a thread for the Don Quixote read, as stasia did for War and Peace, if i get a few people interested in the idea. it's going to be really informal --- just to "launch" it in January, with an open-ended finish date (well, at least, challenging all to finish within 2009)...

what do u think? would u be interested?

deebee
FAM,

Well, hopefully you will get the books in time for your birthday!

Stasia
Anita,

I checked Amazon's website, and the estimated delivery date is February 5th.

Stasia
