About meBibliophile, philologue, logomane, Mittellateinerin, Michigander-in-exile. The phrase "felix qui potuit..." is intentionally incomplete. Vergil finished it one way, Propertius, another, Boethius, still otherwise. As for me, I'm still undecided.

A medievalist and a fan of Wuthering Heights and Lebkuchen?! What excellent taste you have, FelixQuiPotuit! (Forgive the random commenting! Best wishes!)
Whoops, I guess Touchstones don't work in comment fields.
Of course! I knew those chairs looked familiar. My wife and I visit Interlochen almost every summer and usually take a walk around the campus, including going to the beach. Green Lake is pretty, but I've only seen it from behind Kresge Auditorium.

You really are into the Classical stuff! I'm reading a novel right now that has vague overtones and there is a small chance you might find it interesting: ["The Night Life of the Gods"] by [[Thorne Smith]] - he is the author of ["Topper"] among others.
The picture looks tantalizingly familiar. I am reminded of two places: Grand Traverse Bay, East arm and Cayuga Lake north of Ithaca, N. Y. Probably not even close, but your Michigan allusions got me thinking. Compare: http://www.pbase.com/hashiru/image/44036...
