Works been stressful. Today is the first light day in a week. I'm taking advantage of it by updating my library holds and adding books "to read" to librarything.

Yeah, my library does lean pretty heavily toward male authors.

"The government, which was designed for the people, has got into the hands of the bosses and their employers, the special interests. An invisible empire has been set up above the forms of democracy."
-Woodrow Wilson

This might be an interesting quote to deconstruct.
"The government, which was designed for the people,"
The United States government that was designed for the people is a republic.

"The government, which was designed for the people, has got into the hands of the bosses and their employers, the special interests."
Our republic has turned into an oligarchy.

"An invisible empire has been set up above the forms of democracy."
Simply restating the last sentence that our republic has turned into an oligarchy.

A truly excellent example of this is the Kennedy family's constant involvement in the U.S. government.

I am hopeful that this isn't true and that we are still living in a republic but I do see the signs of the U.S. government being an oligarchy.
